Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Kompany is now Bayern's "preferred solution" according to the Sky Germany reporter.
He is in "concrete and positive talks" with Bayern

Potentially poorly timed YouTube upload onto the clubs channel at 13:00 - ‘Vincent Kompany reflects on the season and looks to the future”.

I don't think he has said VK is the "preferred solution" before. That seems significant.
Wasn't he just 'on the list' of options?

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Shows us what a mess Bayern are in. Vincent will be very good in 5 years time, good enough for little old us now, but it way short of what is needed by Bayern. Most issues this season were ones of judgement - transfers, tactics, plan B, selections, subs. He won’t suddenly have overcome that inexperience overnight.
Bizarre but looking likely to go. Puts him on a similar path to a Lampard, fail at a big club (likely given the chaos at Bayern) then struggle to establish yourself anywhere else afterwards, the failure starts to become your CV rather than your heroics as a player. Whereas, fail with us and who remembers? For example, Lampard at Derby I can’t even remember how he did (and he was then still older than Vincent is now).

That video will look pretty interesting if he now leaves. Very strange of the club to put it out in the midst of the noise.

Clear the video was filmed before forest game but you’d imagine the club would delete the scheduling of the release of the video due to what’s going on

Just watched it and absolutely weird to have that go out?
Is it just a pre-recorded interview released to an agreed schedule that wasn’t cancelled or just us using some final Kompany content before it becomes irrelevant.
Absolutely bizarre timing given all the noise.

Unless....(and yes, I am in full 'tin foil hat/moon landing faked' territory here
), the club kept it scheduled and maintained putting it out to paint Kompany as the bad guy in this should he leave.

You are right in your thinking-I find it interesting that with such strong and widespread rumours that have persisted for the last 48 hours, that no statement has been made by AP. After all the precedence in making statements re VK potentially moving, have previously been set by APashtonlongsider wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 11:51 amNot sure if I'm missing the point or being naive here but VK signed a long term extension last summer. Yes there may be 'get out' clauses suiting either party but I would have thought us as a club are in a commanding situation when it comes to dealing with any potential suitors. It's not as if he's only got 12 months of his contract to run.
The board appear to have been unwavering in there support for VK during this very difficult season and have, in Burnley terms backed him to the hilt. Surely that must carry some weight should, and I emphasise should he be considering what options are out there.

Most bookmakers now in agreement ( bar a couple of lesser ones where Kompany doesn't even make the list)
Best price appears to 5/4 but most sites are evens or odds on with Bet365 at 1/2
Very telling imo

So it looks like things are progressing
Being on a four year deal we must be looking at £10m pay out if he goes surely?
Alan needs to play hardball here, time to show his business teeth.

Vinny leaving and £10m + comp is, for me, the absolute best case scenario anyone could have envisaged at the end of this season.Superjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 1:25 pmSo it looks like things are progressing

You would hope after the interest shown in him last summer that we have a shortlist ready to go.

I would hope, assuming the odds have it right and he is going, that we're already in active dialogue with Moyes and Cooper (as they're out of work) and have sought to speak to Carrick, Robins and Edwards.

I'd be amazed if there isn't a lowball clause in his contract allowing him to speak to a club involved in European competition without much fuss.
Brighton might have to pay £10m, but I doubt Bayern Munich will.

Looking at the record fees paid for managers 10m seems about the going rate these days.

Perhaps instead of buying and selling players we might be better doing this with managers?
Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
What was I saying about failing forward?
Great Championship season, a horrendous Premier League season whereby his baffling team selections, tactics, substitutions, player hoarding, bad transfers, man management and the overall feel of players not wanting to run through brick walls for him have been laid bare for the entire world to see and the talk is of your Bayern's and Chelsea's been in for him.
Football is absolutely mental, there really isnt another industry like it.
Now that the speculation has developed, and we know more my stance on hoping he's staying has now changed.
Were I Pace, I would now be looking at managing him out of the building by whatever means that doesn't cost us anything, whether that's giving him permission to talk to whoever he wants to and getting us some sort of fee, or if that fails then a mutual termination if he'll accept it.
There is absolutely no way that his head and motivation is there for the upcoming season after all that's come out about this. He's wanting to cut and run so let him. If we're not already making enquiries for the next gaffer then we're well behind the curve.

Serious point though: if you go for young up and coming managers they are potentially tradeable in the same way as players. Pace deserves some credit for the appointment in that respect alone, if we get a decent fee.
I think we were quite unlucky with Dyche not to receive a fee from someone, actually.
Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Hopefully he comes in with a bid for that £100 million pound player, hiding somewhere within our squad.

I find it absolutely bemusing that he’s even on the shortlist for a club of that size after the season he’s had.
I can’t quite work out if it’s a measure of the batshit crazy goings on at Bayern or I’m clearly missing something massive in what has happened here this year!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if there isn't a clause like that, but I suspect it will be attached to a clause about compensation fee. There would be no reason to put that in about Brighton et al but not the richer clubs.distortiondave wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 1:32 pmI'd be amazed if there isn't a lowball clause in his contract allowing him to speak to a club involved in European competition without much fuss.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
It really is puzzling.
This is side that didn’t win the Champions League with Pep and his brand of football. A brand of football that the Bayern fans and german football didn’t take to as much as we have or the Spanish did.
Surely Bayern have got a deal in place with VK along the lines of “Our man isn’t available so come in for a year and let’s see” kind of thing.

They want a 12 month stop-gap, VK will be thinking a solid 12 months there brings him right back in line and stock raised for another big job/Peps successor or whatever.

I am with FeedtheArf. Completely bemused, we have a retained list that VK was involved in, Assignon and Larsen negotiating, JBG and Jack leave. What is going on! Can we bring Jack or JBG back if the new manger wants to? Bayern must be mad to take a punt on a Premier Zone failure

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
It would be nice if we could receive north of 15 million if he jumps ship. That would at least recoup a fraction of the money he has wasted.
The more this story is gathering legs, the more it smacks of a lack of integrity on his part and the more cross it makes me.
Kompany did indeed do well in his first season once things just clicked on the pitch. It was a combination of judgement and luck in my opinion. He did find two or three relatively unknown players who had a good season, coupled with a few excellent loanees. Tella, Maatsen and Harwood Bellis to name three of them. The football was great, the team spirit was great and we could visibly see this.
This season, I don’t know if it was his ego getting the better of him but he just thought he could do well in the Premier League with all of this unproven talent he bought largely from the European Leagues.
He has amassed the largest and most expensive squad in Burnley history, which Alan Pace and the board readily sanctioned thinking the bloke could almost walk on water. These players were largely sourced from Kompany’s MUD analytics football scouting business, which again doesn’t sit well with me.
After an abysmal season, where he wasn’t appearing to learn from his mistakes or know what his best line up was he now looks to be wanting to jump ship leaving Pace and co. with a massive headache. The headache won’t be trying to recruit a new manager, as I’m sure our stock will still be very high and there will certainly be good candidates for the manager job.
The headache however, will be from trying to trim this bloated squad to a sensible level with some cash return, and at the same time keeping hold of players like Berge who will be integral to us competing in the Championship next season.
If this Bayern gig doesn’t come off for Kompany, it would be great to see him hold a press conference to say he is staying at Burnley to finish off the project that he has started. However, I won’t hold my breath.

If he is offered the job he has to take it.
If he wants out then we should get this done as soon as possible. We are a week or so since repeatedly hearing give him 10 games next season and if we aren't top or near then sack him so we may as well get some compensation as oppose to pay him to go.

Lets not forget that Bayern Munich were required to pay up to €25million – a world-record fee by some distance at the time – to RB Leipzig for Nagelsmann’s services in 2021... and then Chelsea and Todd Boehly actually sanctioned £21.5million for Potter’s services.
Lets see how much they want VK and take it on the chin

Always love the people “in the know” Done Deal and think they look good when it goes through and disappear when it doesn’t. Looking like it will at some stage but be surprised if it’s signed sealed delivered by this stage
Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
I would very much like VK to stay, but can't imagine he will. All I'll say is I trust the boards of Munich and Chelsea when it comes to spotting managerial talent more then the loud voices on a supporters message board. Maybe, just maybe he really is a talent. Absolutely last season didn't go the way all of us wanted it to. But obviously clubs with a lot of money, and a lot of success in European football think a lot of his abilities if these rumors are true.

Loud voices on a messageboard are simply commenting from a supporters eye view.
Kompany was a talent as a footballer, an outstanding talent.
He may make the grade as a talented manager. However, if he does jump ship and go to Bayern at this early stage in his managerial career he is destined to fail.

Good transfer if completed. Not sure he man affect Bayern, although you never know. The players wanted Pich. Poch wants MU.

I have absolutely no idea if VK is leaving for Bayern but if he does, he goes with my best wishes.
He hasn't done anything wrong at all. He hasn't said that he is nipping up to see his family in Scotland or told any other lies. He has behaved the same way Dyche did whenever there was any speculation about his position by maintaining a dignified silence.
If true, we are talking about the possibility of him going to 1 of the biggest clubs in world football. Can any of us really begrudge him that opportunity?

The price drifted overnight but heavy support again now. Even if Bayern had fallen through I have always been consistent in my opinion that he wouldn’t manage us in the Championship again.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
VK lost me several months ago but I never wanted him binned until he had been given a decent chance at getting us back up. I feel though that this is a good outcome for all and he wld go with my best wishes. I think he has done loads wrong and blown a great opportunity to establish us in the Premier League but he thought he was too clever by half and he wasn’t. If he has learned something then he may flourish but I have a feeling he hasn’t and will continue to overthink things and not do very well but hope I’m wrong. His backroom staff can go with him for me as I felt they didn’t stand up to his stubbornness, tactics, weird selection and substitutions.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Did well getting us up I don’t think his style is suited to keeping us in the prem so it’s win win for me if he goes.
We need a pragmatic manager that plays with what he has and can wheel and deal in the transfer market.
A manager that has a solid idea of who and what to play with what he has available.
