Next manager
Re: Next manager
No to Rooney, Fabregas or any other ‘name’. I don’t think we can afford to be messing around with another experiment.

Steven Defour could he return to Burnley
Re: Next manager
The next manager, and their summer dealings, should tell us a lot in terms of any longer term plan that Pace and Co. actually have.
If we are in the market for other clubs, we will surely be looking for a manager that has a good track record with recruiting and developing younger players - players that we can send to these clubs for first team experience.
Does that mean that we need another ‘name’ to attract these players?
If we go for a steadier hand with Championship pedigree, who recruits experience to aid the younger players, perhaps giving us a better chance at promotion, what does that say for the model that has been talked about?
The two aren’t mutually exclusive, but it doesn’t half narrow down the market if we want something of a half way house.

Was it? I read his departure was similar to this one - that he could've been potted before leaving as he wasn't meeting the expectations there. However his brand of Pep football wins over his admirers.Roosterbooster wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 11:14 amKompany came after a very respectable managerial stint at Anderlecht.

David Moyes remains the standout svailable candidate. He would bring structure and purpose to our young bucks, if they are not already all sold.

Re: Next manager
The board needs to learn from an experienced operator who's seen it all. David Moyes #1 without a shadow of a doubt for me.
If they do go with a new young manager, then they need to get an experienced #2 in or some other experienced football men in senior backroom positions.
Last season was a naive young manager and a naive young (in british footballing terms) board, both needed reigning in at times but non had the nous to.
UTC.

He had West Ham playing decent winning football with a blend of experience and youth. Many are calling for young up and coming coaches to take over but we need an experienced manager with contacts who can rebuild the scouting network and backroom staff as well as instill confidence in the players with a huge season ahead.. he's just won a European trophy and he's available with no compensation.. I also think AP would welcome someone he can trust

Re: Next manager
This nonsense about Cooper spending tons of money ...
Simply untrue - it was the board and the owner's son primarily to blame.
Pace better get a move on as there will be a vacancy at either Leeds or Soton soon.

Agreed. Moyes won't mess with the club. Like Mr D, he cares about the clubs he manages. He would get Burnley and restore order and belief.Woonderbah wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 12:16 pmHe had West Ham playing decent winning football with a blend of experience and youth. Moyes will not join a Championship club after all that time in the prem. It just won’t happen irrespective of whether he would be the best man for the job or if we offered a massive contract. The guy has earned millions and clearly doesn’t need to be farting around in the Championship with a load of foreign youngsters. It would be like Gordon Ramsay going back to Le Gavroche to work as a sous chef.

Why would you say that ? What do you know of Bellamy's involvement with Kompany's decision making ? Could Bellamy have recognised some of VK'S mistakes and perhaps know how to correct them ? Might he have a better relationship with the Squad when not under VK's direction ? He may be jiust the right person to offer both continuity and improvement. I don't have the knowledge of Bellamy in his workplace that you might have so I woukd value your wisdom on this >

From The Athletic 20 minutes ago:
Craig Bellamy will not be joining Vincent Kompany at Bayern Munich should the German club’s negotiations with Kompany proceed as expected.
Bellamy remains assistant at Burnley and is likely to be a contender for the vacancy at Turf Moor once Kompany’s move to Bayern is confirmed.
Bellamy, 44, has worked alongside Kompany previously at Anderlecht, the two men having played together at Manchester City and formed a close relationship.

GO DEEPER
Why do Bayern Munich want Kompany?
When Kompany took over at Burnley in the summer of 2022 Bellamy went with him to Lancashire as assistant manager and was part of the club’s Championship-winning set-up.
It was thought Bellamy would follow Kompany to Germany once news of Bayern’s interest became public but the Welshman’s preference is stay in the UK and continue his coaching there.
Burnley are negotiating a severance package for Kompany and once that is concluded, there will be a focus on who succeeds the Belgian.
Burnley, relegated from the Premier League, are returning to the Championship after one year back in the top flight.
I thought he'd left, but not according to that.

Moyes hasn't had much love of late.. since Sir Alex's glowing endorsement to be his successor he hasn't been afforded any stability.. hounded out of Old Trafford and the London Stadium despite in hindsight comparable records to more glamorous managers.. yes he might not fancy the Championship but if he sees us as a Premier League club playing in the Championship for a season then the stability and trust that comes with managing Burnley might definitely appeal

Re: Next manager
The Bellamy rumours concern me. We should be going for a known managerial entity - Moyes, Cooper, etc. We should be looking to **** the Championship not experimenting with an unknown. Bellamy has enhanced his reputation for me whilst here. He has come across really well and played a substantial role in a great promotion season. But, having him stay as one of our coaches would be preferable.
Re: Next manager
Moyes would be perfect for us. His style of football is under appreciated.
Don't think he'd want to come though, but it's worth an ask.
Just as an aside, when we played West Ham just after Covid, he walked along the bob Lord from the Jimmy Mac corner and got a really good reception, which he seemed genuinely appreciative of.

Re: Next manager
I wouldn’t be so against this - knows the system, staff, players and formula for getting promoted from the champ…
Which other managers being mentioned like Robins and Rosinior do not.
Just posted on another thread but although this couldn’t have come at a better time in the season my big worry is we’re now at the start of a manager search that if Kompany’s appointment is anything to go by could take some time. But also should NOT be rushed.
One thing I’d be fine with is Bellamy being appointed interim manager so that we don’t have to rush anything and make mistakes.

There’s just something about him I cannot warm to.
He always looks like his face has been slapped or he’s in an abusive relationship or something. He just doesn’t scream ‘leader’ to me.
Will say that with his championship experience and premiere league experience I’d prefer him to all this Robins, Rosinior talk. Definitely.

They need to replace a full recruitment team, sell god knows how many players, recruit players they want, replace the backroom staff.

The thing with Moyes, is we aren't the prettiest lass at Studio 54, but we are, arguably, "Miss Lancashire".
We are very local.

It would not surprise me if Moyes really fancied the Burnley job. A club and fan base who appreciate pragmatism… evidenced by the SD years, a young squad to mould and expected challengers for an instant return to the top flight. A chairman that has already showed he backs his manager to the hilt and little chance he would be shipped out for a glamour appointment when successful. All an hour from his family home.
