Remember a time before the internet when we'd be oblivious to all this?

Burnley fan walks into a pub, "I've heard that Kompany is going to Bayern Munich"

In unison....... " Ha ha ha, get out you f***ing melonhead"
Exactly. Or you'd just read it in the paper. I lived in Tokyo in the early '90s. During our promotion year, in a Roppongi bar on Sundays, I used to read the back page of the Exeter sports paper [faxed over by a mate's dad] to get the football scores. I used to wonder who the free-scoring Mike Conroy was.

If Pace wants 20 mill hold out for it. Numerous coaches have already said no to Bayern..... they are getting desperate, and have found someone who has said yes in Vinny.

Depending on Vinnys contract, get every penny we can back for him.
Exactly, they were happy to pay £15m for Glasner who was going for free a few months beforehand. Bayern is a s**t show right now, they are in turmoil and will have to save face big time if they mess this one up, make them pay £15m minimum.

Could part of a deal be to become a feeder club to Bayern?

Depends which Burnley turn up to negotiate… for years we had this lot:
BFC- we want £20m
BM - we’ll offer £2m
BFC- we want £18m
BM- we’ll offer £2.5m
BFC- ok.

Squeeze what we can out of them. Can’t believe the “know it alls” aren’t banging on about the release clause they KNOW to be part of his contract…

How does that benefit us exactly? They take our manager, most of the back room staff and get first refusal at any talent we have? Crikey

I suppose the good news is that if we get near the 20m we would pocket 125m for the season instead of 110m.
Not bad.

Sell a couple of keepers and the numbers rise considerably. Half a dozen wingers and we, sorry Mr Pace's lenders, will be quids in.

Good times! Will always remember my mum who had zero interest in football (bar checking the result to gauge the mood me, my dad and brothers came home in) ringing me at uni to tell me we’d signed Ian Wright. I wouldn’t believe her until ceefax confirmed it page 312 news in brief.

Aye, Mum's can get things wrong and be quite hysterical regarding football.

Mine heard on the radio that there was a fire at "the" Crewe match in 87 (there was a small fire behind the goals at the derelict end).

This was just a couple of years after the Bradford fire and she spent the whole night till the next morning wondering if we were still alive. No mobile phones then, the lazy techy barstewards,

Meanwhile we'd found a pub in Sandbach that didn't mind us blowing froth off a few until late, drowning our sorrows like.

And so what happens if he doesn’t get the job? I’ve read that they’re also interested in Thomas Frank. Does he just stay at Burnley and pretend that nothing has happened?

Is that sufficient to write him off?
well we don't have much to go off, it's a fair observation based on what we've seen from two of our players, he got nothing out of Twine or Zaroury.

I doubt he'll be here when the new season kicks off now.

There'd be too much negativity around the place for him to still be here.

You'd hope that we have already got the wheels of his replacement in motion.

I just can’t see past OGS. Available, on the look out for the right club, has the warm and fuzzy loyal feeling about him, the media love him and as the ex United manager has a big enough profile for investors to know of him. He’s got the big club knowledge, proven that he can bring the feel good factor back, admittedly short term but also been successful with a smaller club with a smaller budget.

It feels like he would tick a lot of Alan’s boxes

Why? Would be a very similar appointment to Russell Martin going to Saints last summer.

Young coach who young players like playing for ✅
Plays a similar style of football to VK = smooth transition ✅
Helped take Hull from 18th to 7th ✅
1 of the worst defences in the league to 1 of the best ✅
Able to attract good young players (Carvalho chose them over Saints) ✅

There are doubts whether this job comes a bit too early for him but I’d be surprised if we aren’t at least considering him given the above.

I don’t think it even remotely fits ALK model.

They want a European manager with lots of pull in the lower markets (IE Belgium/netherlands/Austria). I also think they will have learnt from Kompany and maybe go for someone with more top level management experience.

Rosenior, has no top level experience, no links to European markets and I personally don’t think he’s marketable.

Said it before but I think Alexander Blessin, Christian Ilzer are all much more likely candidates. They are well thought of in the type of markets we will be shopping, some European and top level management experience, low salary, both just had some excellent seasons.

Left his last club for failing to achieve what the investment suggested they should….. plays the right way eg doesn’t win enough games but is pretty…… I can see why you’d be a fan.

They had less investment than every single club they finished below (Ipswich aside), who all had parachute payments. But good try.

Not a chance he’ll be here. Whilst both he and Pace could have been shell shocked by the approach his agent will have been putting his name about as being interested in other clubs. The trust Pace has put in him and their project has gone. We need to start the season with players, fans and a new manager being together.

Xabi Alonso currently 33/1 with William Hill and a whopping 40/1 with Sky Bet.
Xabi Alonso gave them the Spanish Archer when last interviewed confirming his intention to spend one more season at Bayer Leverkusen.

‘To substitute the Belgium coach’ then said Andy Dawson.

Just shows what a forked tongue Kompany has, if he is spinning a line about using his Championship side. They disappeared overnight!

Clearly didn’t watch us did he.
Gullem Balague has fashioned a career from being a global football pundit who's generic expertise doesnt stand up to scrutiny.

He does keep the plebs watching adverts on Sky Sports News though... ;)

Has he gone yet?

The absolute last thing we need is him coming back with his tail between his legs. Get bloody gone.

Latest confirmation that our start point is £17m for the manager and staff.

Don't think we should be hardballing this at all. I can understand Pace and co want to show they're not pushovers, and will see Bayern as a bit of a cash cow, but Kompany at Burnley is as good as done now anyway. Get what you can but don't break the deal over it.

Hull fans wanted him out at Xmas,

Hull fans wanted him out at Xmas,
There are Burnley fans who wanted a Championship winning, 101 point manager, out after 5 games of this season.

It's all gone eerily quite in the last 24 hours after the hourly updates since Tuesday....

No problem it's just the usual negotiations at manager level.
