From the list posted above it looks like we may have missed the boat on Wayne Rooney (favourite for the Plymouth job). :P

Just had to look up Will Still. I'd never heard of him but appears favourite for Norwich position.
Hoff Thorup is odds on favourite for the Norwich position with Will Still now second favourite.

That list of odds for 'next manager' is overround at something like 269, so completely made up by someone who has no understanding of making a 'book'.

If we appointed OGS, it would probably help us to keep Sander Berge for another season.

I thought it looked odd as though the names had been plucked from this message board and the odds made up. Well spotted.

Well Kenton, I know you know your stuff. I saw you trying to explain to the message board about 'Next manager' odds. Shame some still wanted to shout you down when you were just trying to explain the process.

Moyes was mentioned a couple of days ago, but I can't see him dropping to the Championship. Dyche was the same. Dyche would have got plenty of offers, but he waited. Hope I'm wrong, though. I would love to see Moyes here.
Can't see Moyes getting offers from any current PL clubs, so surely Burnley would be the best offer he could get- especially as. he has a house in the North West. and many connections in this region

Having a home in the North West is neither here nor there when it comes to people who can afford to travel about the country in private charted air taxis, but I hope you're right. I would love to see him here.

I've given it some reflection and Ive come to the conclusion I'd prefer Moyes.

There just really isn't an outstanding candidate and he's the best of the bunch with a proven record.

I'm doubtful he'd get another role directly in the Premier League.

    A huge NO from me.

She is a talented, intelligent tactically astute manager in the female game.

    However

I have no desire for us to be the ones under the microscope of being the first side in the men’s top 2 divisions to appoint a female manager. It would once again be all about the publicity and the manger (we’ve had enough of that) and if it went wrong we no doubt would be beaten with the stick of wanting her out ‘because of her gender’ and how they’d love to beat us with that stick and tar us. I also unfortunately think some men’s players would lose respect for their manger very quickly if things weren’t going well because of her gender and changing room rifts would occur quickly.

I just want a unassuming / not controversial manager for a bit after all this.

He seemed happy enough working for the owners of West Ham for a few seasons. Didn't they control most of the signings in and out of the club?

The tactics would be the same in male and female matches so if you are a good coach it shouldn't really matter. I would think that Sarina Wiegman would get the respect from the players due to what she has done in the female game and being tactically astute. Not that I am saying we should seek her out, just that not everything is against a female manager in the mens game. It will take a brave club to try it but it will eventually happen.

Just checked and Forest Green put Hannah Dingley in interim charge in 2023.

Well if the owners of West Ham chose which players came to the club they did a fantastic job when Moysie was there but not so well when Moysie wasn't there.

I think David Moyes would be an excellent recruit but I'm not sure he'll want to play second fiddle to a DOF.
If things do go badly, who will be held accountable, the higher placed DOF responsible for recruitment, or the very experienced manager,, now downgraded to head coach or first team coach.
In their defence the DOF will say the coach should have got more out of the players and the Head Coach will say they weren't his choice of players.

Where are we getting this DOF from? Jenkins is more DOF transitioning the academy to first team I thought.

Oh! Right! Let’s go for underwhelming appointments all the time then because one turned out ok.

Also, ftr, the last year and a half of Dyche was shocking football.

No denying it'd gone stale, I wanted him to go myself in the final season the time was right.
Doesn't mean we write off what he did for the club.
Not saying go for one everytime I'm saying don't write a manager off when we don't know what could happen.
The interview process is there for a reason, if he blows them away like Dyche did then who knows how it could work out.
I've said he wouldn't be my first choice but I also wouldn't be writing him off instantly.

The interview process (if not conducted correctly) gives people with the gift of the gab a huge and unwarranted advantage over others. I’d rather we headhunted someone for our own needs than just listening to people who are excellent at promoting themselves and sounding great.

Amazed at the number of people who want Moyes.

Would be the sign of a club without any direction doing another 180 on approach (on both playing style and transfer strategy) just 2 years after the last one when going from Dyche to Kompany.

Last season West Ham were defensively worse than us and averaged only 41.1% possession (17th rank). Which wouldn't be terrible if they created chances despite it but they didn't, ranking 15th for non-penalty xG, that with players such as Kudus, Bowen and Paqueta.

After 5 years of his management West Ham also have the second oldest squad in the PL.

Moyes isn't a fit for what the club is purportedly aiming to be.

Nail on head. That’s before you factor in he won’t need or want to work at a level below where he has worked for the last 20 years plus. Unreal the number on here that can’t seem to grasp it.

Dyche only got the job because he blew them away with his interview when he gave them a presentation, it isn't like your day to day job interview.
