This must be how Paula Vennels feels
I have no recent knowledge of Paris Hilton and am totally unaware of any Paris Hilton based browsing that I may have accidentally performed

Not that long ago Joey Barton was second favourite behind VK for the Burnley manager position.

Always interesting when members of Mensa Clarets post on here…ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 5:36 pmI've seen some thick posts on here, but this one might take the biscuit. Repeating a libel on a thread about the original tweeter being found guilty of that libel.....

Joey's going to lose his house if he carries on like this.
Compo and legal fees will wipe him out.

Re: Jeremy Vine wins libel case against Joey Barton
As an aside it is interesting that a word invented by Ronnie Barker for Porridge, because it sounded like a disgusting insult has now been found to be a disgusting insult in a British court
Re: Jeremy Vine wins libel case against Joey Barton
Always thought the word nonce was an acronym for 'not of normal criminal element' invented by prison officers.

Nonce was invented by Ronnie Barker? I don't believe you.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2024 5:23 pmAs an aside it is interesting that a word invented by Ronnie Barker for Porridge, because it sounded like a disgusting insult has now been found to be a disgusting insult in a British court

'Nurk' was a Ronnie Barker made up insult but I don't remember him using the word nonce.

'Not on normal courtyard exercise'.cbx750 wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2024 5:54 pmCorrect, nearly.

Never heard that but it would make much more sense.
"The programme shared the the acronym N.O.N.C.E was marked on the cell card of any prisoner who may have been in danger of violence from other prisoners. It meant staff would not open their doors when other prisoners were out.
The acronym NONCE stands for 'not on normal courtyard exercise', according to the documentary, and apparently was first coined at the jail in Yorkshire."

We use the term in computing to denote something that can only be executed once.
It's very surprising, in this day of wokery, that the term has not been phased out. Far less offensive phrases have been banned
