Maresca to Chelsea
Looks like Leicester are about to lose their manager (another crazy decision by Boehly), may well have an impact on our potential list of replacements.

I'd say maybe on David Moyes but that's about itVegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 2:06 pmLooks like Leicester are about to lose their manager (another crazy decision by Boehly), may well have an impact on our potential list of replacements.

Re: Maresca to Chelsea
Another bonkers decision.
Re: Maresca to Chelsea
Imagine getting rid of Pochettino, who’d just got the basket case looking really good, and replacing him with Maresca.
What on earth is wrong with these people.

Re: Maresca to Chelsea
What a basket case club, they have been swimming through treacle all season and just when it looks like they are turning the corner they go and shoot themselves in the foot again!!!
Re: Maresca to Chelsea
I'd have Poch at Burnley, sadly don't think he'd come haha

Re: Maresca to Chelsea
I know it sounds mad, but why would Maresca leave Leicester to go to that mess?
Is it just money??

Aren’t Leicester a bit of a mess as well? Points deduction heading their way?burnley007 wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 3:16 pmI know it sounds mad, but why would Maresca leave Leicester to go to that mess?

He threatened to walk out at Leicester not that long ago because the fans don’t like his style of footballburnley007 wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 3:16 pmI know it sounds mad, but why would Maresca leave Leicester to go to that mess?

Re: Maresca to Chelsea
Leicester will get points deduction so they are not in a great position as a club despite promotion

Re: Maresca to Chelsea
Pochettino reportedly wanted more of an input into the decision making of which players were to be retained and sold. The Chelsea owner apparently wasn’t prepared for Pochettino to have any say on transfer dealings leading to a parting of the ways.
Perhaps Maresca is happy to leave it to the owners making it a short list of 1. McKenna is still the bookies favourite for the hot seats at Brighton and Man Utd. A coach in high demand.

Re: Maresca to Chelsea
I agree with some points already made:
Chelsea started playing pretty well towards the end of the season (3rd behind Man C and Arsenal over the last 10 games) with Palmer blossoming into a top player - weird that they've potted Poch.
Leicester will very possibly get a points reduction next season and are thus clear favourites to be relegated (4/9 odds on)
I've seen it quoted that £10 million is the compo to Leicester (chicken feed Chelsea but possibly very welcome at the King Power).

Re: Maresca to Chelsea
Have Chelsea got the leeway to throw another £10 Million at the 'project'?
I know the PSR rules are changing again but they must be close to the limit?

Re: Maresca to Chelsea
I guess it depends on how much they rake in from outgoing transfers. Gallagher seems likely, maybe Sterling, Lukaku, Arrizabalage, Maatsen etc. Having said which, theyll probably want to spend most of that on new expensive overrated players (probably from Brighton

Re: Maresca to Chelsea
I read that Chelsea would have finished 4th had the season started on Boxing Day so Poch seemed to have got to grips with the mess he inherited and was showing signs of progress.LeadBelly wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 4:03 pmI agree with some points already made:

The squad he inherited was far too big and despite all these (over priced) signings, they didn't really have a centre forward other than Jackson.
This club demands instant success but are too stupid to realise that they've just voluntarily gone back to square one.

We’ve seen what happens when non-football people start choosing the players.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 3:42 pmPochettino reportedly wanted more of an input into the decision making of which players were to be retained and sold. Reports today that McKenna will sign a new long term deal at Ipswich although we know manager contracts are not worth the paper they are written on.
Re: Maresca to Chelsea
End-of-season results can be odd as many players are already on the beach and/or more interested on their next club.
However, Pochettino had given younger players some time and it was working. Fortunately, the board decided to sack him.

5 year deal, crazy. Will be surprised if he lasts a full season.

Re: Maresca to Chelsea
I was thinking would I like Maresca at Burnley ?
Don't know anything about him, but gaining promotion with Leicester should have been one of the easiest jobs in the league this season, so that doesn't really mean anything.
Doesn't appear to have a previous track record, so I would have been very surprised and underwhelmed if he had come to Burnley.
Chelsea are quite clearly bonkers.
