I think I'd have Scott Parker over Lampard as bad as that sounds. No to either of them!

Re: Next manager
Hasn’t Parker been sacked from the 3 jobs he’s had?
Re: Next manager
Parker and Lampard have decent records in the Championship but the problem for me is that we need someone to come in and be a strong enough disciplinarian to sort out the sloppy mess that VK has left behind.
Neither of those two fit the bill there and that’s why I’m still hoping for a Cooper or Moyes appointment. I think I’m going to be disappointed.

Yeah but he's had 2 promotions from the Championship. That's not a bad record.

Re: Next manager
The Fulham one through play offs he should have walked it with their squad and then Bournemouth they spent a fortune in the Jan and nearly got pipped by coopers Forest. Massively failed in his two spells as a prem manager.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 9:59 pmYeah but he's had 2 promotions from the Championship. That's not a bad record.
Another manager who can only do it with the biggest budget in the league
Re: Next manager
If that's that the case why don't we give Colin a call?CoolClaret wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 9:59 pmYeah but he's had 2 promotions from the Championship. That's not a bad record.
He got promoted mostly because he was in charge of clubs that were too good for Championship. He was awful in PL.

Not disagreeing - just saying that he's had two promotions.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 10:01 pmThe Fulham one through play offs he should have walked it with their squad and then Bournemouth they spent a fortune in the Jan and nearly got pipped by coopers Forest. Whoever takes the reins this time will have the biggest budget once again I'd imagine.

I can see why Parker has come up for consideration tbh but he’s not for me. Cooper remains the standout realistic candidate.

Cooper the obvious choice but I think they’ll go for a ‘bigger name’.

Scott Parker is a case study in the influence social media has on a manager’s reputation.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 10:03 pmNot disagreeing - just saying that he's had two promotions.

On paper, he’s not that bad. Not my favoured choice, but he’s younger that Steve Cooper and he’s had more promotions out of the Championship. Most folk wouldn’t bat an eyelid if we appointed Cooper.

Starting to get the impression that the likes of Parker are appearing on the list is because others (better managers) are turning us down.

Re: Next manager
Yeah, definitely. What with Kompany still not announced as the Bayern boss and it being a full 48 hours since the compo having been agreed, it really is time to panic and assume nobody wants our job.

Re: Next manager
The Burnley job will be a very attractive proposition for many coaches this summer .
Yes a bloated squad but this also has its positives….a big pool to chose from and some very capable players at championship level.

Parker in from 33/1 to 3/1 on Sky Bet. Maybe there’s something in this but I remember that Kompany wasn’t even in the betting. My money is still on OGS

Quite disrespectful for Burnley to be courting other managers whilst Kompany is still in his post.

The odds are utterly pointless. A tenner bet probably moves them significantly.

Apologies I misheard the pundit as I entered the room-you are right about the headline. Seems like him and Cooper mentioned in the article, but interestingly both journalists felt Cooper is a better fit for us on a coaching basis123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 10:41 pmI’m watching sky sports news and it says ‘franks lined up by clarets’ that’s completely different to ‘closing in’

If Scott Parker is appointed I am sure the club shop will be selling a nice range in cardigans.
It will make a change from a baseball cap.

We might have sounded 1 or 2 out by 3rd party, but I'm fairly certain that our chairman will not have contacted anyone himself at this very, very early stage in developments.
Re: Next manager
Really hoping it’s Graham Potter, but him turning down jobs competing in Europe doesn’t suggest he’d be willing to drop to the Championship, even for a side expecting to bounce back.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 10:59 pmNixon yesterday after his cooper and Lampard news saying Burnley willing to offer good wages and bonuses for someone significant is interesting

If it’s Lampard we are doomed!
Hopefully someone intervenes before its too late!
One thing Garlick and Kilby were good at and that was choosing managers.
