Not sure it’s as straight forward as that Vegas,

I remember there was quite a significant bust up between him and the players (as well as a few coaches). If memory serves I think they briefly touched on it during an interview with his assistant manager after he left where he effectively said the role was untenable due to this falling out with the players.

Which is strange because it looks like he had quite a successful time there.

Must admit though not sure he’s even on ALKs list.

Only watched them a few times and that was in the Europa league.

Funnily enough last game I saw was against Amorim (sporting Lisbon) because that was a manager I wanted to take over VK back in January.

Play nice attacking football. Not sure it would work very well with our squad though, they play a relatively narrow 442 in diamond shape. Would mean getting rid of a lot of our wingers

Parachuted to a powerful Chelsea and about par to finish 4th in prem , next season disaster sacked in Jan when mid table , horrific time at Everton ( he looked utterly broken) then dumped after a very brief caretaker return to Chelsea .
Brilliant professional as a player but hasn’t created anything or exceeded his remit wherever he’s been .

If Lampard is appointed it will be ALK’s Brian Laws moment and by far the worst managerial appointed since Laws . Would be an absolute disaster clueless appointment. Appointing a manager that virtually every fan doesn’t want will also create a very low threshold for discontent from the fans when things inevitably go wrong.

Burnley fans were very patient last season not shouting for VKs head when things were going badly. That patience wouldn’t be there next season with Lampard.

I think the choice AP and the Board make in the next manager will provide a clear indication of what he has learned from having VK at the helm for the past 22 or so months. It could of course be an opportunity to get the majority of our fans behind them, and reading this Board since news of VK's departure broke, a huge amount of our posters seem to favour several names that are being quoted, and many would be happy with either

Van Nistelrooy is at least 'exciting' and comes with at least wining a trophy and is a 'name' that the board would probably like to use for marketing/advertising etc.

I do believe we should have Moyes/Cooper if possible, take the 'glam' off the appointment but have a decent operator in and just concentrate on being a football club.

But if we are to go left field then I and imagine the wider supporter base would get behind Ruud; I'd even appreciate the directness that's bound to come from him. Gives an edge having an ex United player as manager as well after having ex City - something else for the media to use.

The one thing I'll say for Lampard, he seems to work well with young players (Mount at Derby/Chelsea, Abraham etc.) and bring them on. He'd certainly have plenty to go at here.

Haven’t seen much of his football but having just read a few articles it seems it would be a decent extension, albeit slight variation, on Kompany. Been no links though as far as I can tell?
