9/4 in a next manager betting market pretty much means they have no clue.
When they have no clue they simply create a market and swap around the favourites to try and suck punters in to thinking they know.
If someone’s odds shorten from say 10/1 to 3/1 that won’t necessarily be because there has been money placed on a candidate - it’s to make you think there has been !!

Only when you see a manager going to very short odds on is there something concrete happening - and then it’s usually in the public domain anyway.

That’s how I always look at it. With the first link of VK to Bayern I saw he was 3/1 and then went 13/8. Suddenly he was 1/20.

I’ve just checked Sky Bet. They had Bellamy as favourite an hour ago, now he’s fallen back behind Parker, Lampard and Van Nistelrooy. As you say, they are shuffling the pack.

Bellamy now gone out to 5/1 someone must have cashed out :D

Worth noting also that in the current odds, nobody is as short a price as Cooper was when he was 6/4

The worrying part is Lampard and Parker haven't left the top 3 yet!

I posted this earlier, but BFS was favourite at this point last time and VK wasn't even in the odds.
I wouldn't be surprised if it is Still or Wicky.

These markets are a really poor indicator therefore at this point I would take no notice of them or take notice but read nothing into them.

It's only one game, but I saw Chicago Fire (Wicky's team) a couple of weeks back. They played in the same style as Burnley, but slower and less incisive. It wasn't good.

Wicky hasn’t managed Chicago fire since 2021 so whatever you saw wasn’t his team

These odds just show that gambling only produces one winner and it isn’t those parting with their cash.

I really don’t want either Lampard or Parker but if it is either of them I’m sure the majority of supporters including myself will give them all the backing we can. I still think it will be someone that’s not really been mentioned, I’m not saying that because I know more, I don’t, I just think Alan might surprise us and pull a rabbit.

Just watched the 1 hour plus interview by Steven Bartlett (Dragon’s Den) with Frank Lampard last year. You know, just in case.

Was quite interesting. Does seem a decent guy, very private, family man, would find it hard living up here again I suspect. Married to a TV presenter, living in a big house, four kids from two relationships - it would beg the question how committed he would be for more than a year or so.

More interesting were the bits about coaching and motivation, keeping a squad happy. Seems to believe in a hardcore of players, a bit like our old Dyche signings. A hard taskmaster too. Made me think too, whoever we get, there should be as assistant manager someone who can speak a few languages, he said Cech was useful for that at Chelsea.

When Lampard’s name cropped up last week the above was exactly my thoughts at that time. On reflection though if he got us up next season and wanted out then that would be fine by me, we’d then attract a better Manager in the PL.

When Cooper was being linked I said I had fears about the CFS singing the super trooper song for him

I can however see the CFS singing "10 men couldn't lift, couldn't lift Frank Lampard" so maybe this has legs

Is he the best available to achieve our target, which surely has to be promotion? I have my doubts.

Lampard or whoever it may be, they deserve a fair crack of the whip.

I also think it will be Lampard.

As a case for the defence, I think a lot of our players will want to play for him, and he always comes across as intelligent and generally speaks well. Some clips from Everton positioned him as a good man-manager, too, especially with the captain. His managerial record is undeniably disappointing, but he has knowledge of the league, and he was a whisker from promotion out of it.

I think somebody else made the point, but if it is him, I'd really want to see either an experienced Director of Football or assistant to accompany him.

Spoke to an Everton friend about Lampard. Says it's great when they are winning, but when they lose a few he has no clue and it all falls apart.

It would have to be a no from me, we must be able to do better than Lamps.

Think it would be a mistake appointing Lampard. The moaners are out in full force on this one and it would turn sour very quickly if we suffer a poor result or two.

Surely JJ Watt, Alan Pace etc. must be able to guage the general feelings and likely outcome if we appoint Frank Lampard?

They must realise it could quickly fall apart if we don't start the season well.

JJ Watt and Alan Pace won't care one bit what a football forum thinks.

I always find fan's views at the game are quite different to the negativity spouted on here a lot of the time.

Whoever it is needs backing from the fans, but some have already made their mind up.

Possibly, though Sunderland fans were the same towards the Mick Beale appointment last season and the owners still went with it.

Wouldn’t shock me but if we’re going for ex players Scott Parker would be by far the better bet in my opinion.

The problem we have is that we’re going to have to say that we’re going to sell our best players before the season starts. That could put a few off.

Don’t think it will.
The only thing bigger than guys like Lampard, Parker and many others egos are their bank balances.
Most of the managers being linked with us have had failure aswell as success so doubt many are that bothered about ruining their managerial reputation or record. But they do harbour ambitions of restoring their reputation and getting a promotion on their CV.
And if they fail and get sacked they end up with even more millions in compensation it’s still likely another club will give them a chance and their egos mean they are confident they will still succeed at some point.
