Find your own way in life, not wait for handouts.
Quite right. You’re getting it! Time to free yourself from those masters of yours, then.

Would you like to elaborate?
What's there to elaborate on?

You have been conned to thinking some people barely getting a few hundred quid a week are the reason the UK is in decline, whilst ultra wealthy individuals that have been handed our infrastructure from their Tory crook mates make hundreds of millions every year whilst putting nothing back in to the pot.

My advice would be to stop reading The Sun, The Mail and watching GB News.

The rich aren't being taxed properly at all
Then why are we now the third worst in the world for millionaires leaving the country then?...

Those millionaires take with them, the money they spend here, the money they spend on British goods, the tax money they contribute, growth, entrepreneurship, innovations, inventions, employment and many other benefits to the country!...

It is getting worse, I have never known as many people in business who want to leave... In my industry, and near enough everyone I know who is dynamic and creates jobs and growth in this country is planning to move their company abroad and I have been researching moving to Dubai...

I also network with thousands of entrepreneurs across the UK and it's the same, they are all sick of our record taxation and with it being one of the highest-taxed nations in the developed world...

Everyone I speak to says the same, they are sick of high taxes and it is just not worth growing a company in the UK anymore. It is easy to build tiny companies up to 80k in the UK but scaling it is a nightmare under our crazy high taxation structure!...

There is plenty of money going into the pot, it's mismanaged... That is the problem!

I don't read any of those things, but thanks.

I've not been conned, the two are not connected. The benefits system in this country is allowed to be exploited. People capable or working, but refusing to shouldn't be an option. It's too comfortable.

I don't want to see people homeless or hungry, just people to pay their own way. If they get houses, give them vouchers for a limited time until they find their way.

Lazyness is passed down generation to generation, because it's too easy.

You have totally missed my actual point. I'm talking about the uber wealthy.

For the rest of it - Brexit has caused huge issues. Funny how other powerhouse European Nations doesn't struggle with their taxation system, just mighty Blighty.

We have quite literally seen wages stagnate and house prices / other commodities massively inflate relative to wages. People are struggling to find their way because they can't afford to live - what are you not grasping?

I can't be bothered to go back and forth on this.

You hold ignorant opinions that are based in your own prejudice and no actual evidence or facts. Keep punching down mate, the Rishis of the World love you for it.

Because you just make it up as you go along.

I spend half of my year in "European powerhouses" and they have the same problems as we do on these topics, probably more so in some areas.

Most developed countries don’t have a cash cow to feed
And we are not comparable with small nations like Sweden

What an utterly depressing thread - as we always get with these type of threads it does not take long for the bigotry and prejudice to come out.

The fact that this gang was allowed to commit so much fraud of taxpayers money before they got caught tells you everything about the last 15 years of austerity. The country is on its knees in every single respect - it’s f’in broken. And it was all started by Osbourne and Cameron who are 2 of the most corrupt and incompetent politicians this country have ever seen. The decisions they made have messed up at least 2 generations of this country.

But to see those same old comments akin to Norman Tebbit’s ‘get on your bike’ nonsense tells you why these idiots have managed to stay in power for so long.

I’m all up for anybody committing benefits fraud being given appropriate punishment - as long as those people who handed out the PPE contracts, or committed tax avoidance, or fiddled their MPs expenses etc are given commensurate punishments. Let’s punish them based on the value of the money they have stolen. Unfortunately we have no police to investigate them, no justice system to try them, or prisons to put them in.

Explain how you would tax the rich properly without scaring them off
We are pretty close to that now where for £1 earned many will pay 47% in tax and NI and already pay an extra £5656 per annum as a result of the emergency tax measures by Alistair DarlingThey have also lost the right to any child benefit thanks to the emergency measures of Camerron and Clegg
Passive income to be taxed at the same rate as earned income would be one option

How come as soon as you question why a gang from Bulgaria were able to rip off the system with ease you are automatically declared as racist? What about black and Asian heritage British people questioning it, are they also racist, simple question.

PIP fraud is 0.4% which is extremely low. Its funny when people think disabled people have it easy with their 'free' cars and 'perks'. They dont stop and think of the 30 plus pills they take every day which as well as control their conditions also cause a multitude of others like depression, stomach issues, heart problems, strokes, early cancers etc. Endless appointments in a c*** health system where its literally a lottery if you will get decent doctor. Then to top it off they have to deal with morons who luckily have never had to deal with anything more serious than a bad cold. People pay into the system so that when the worst happens their is a safety net there to catch them. The majority of disabled people would give up the threat of an early death, painful life to live an ordinary one. Luckily I have my health but I certainly don't begrudge paying for those who aren't as lucky and hopefully ill never have to be one of them.

Astonishing that this has occurred/is occurring under the driest Tory governments since Thatcher.

Valid points if true but only partially true
I would wager many on 30 tablets per day don’t take them all and tbh are more likely to feel better if they don’t
Too many people with chronic pain are on drugs they shouldn’t be taking
And as the poster points out the side effects may be far worse than any perceived benefit
We need signposts outside all health institutions as follows
“There are some people we cannot help, but none we cannot harm”

I don't think that was the point being made. Maybe it was though?

It came across as more of an expression of exasperation.

The poster themselves would have to explain but it might aimed at the fact that British nationals aren't given any priority in the benefit system? The fact that being a British national isn't even a qualifying criteria? Or even just exasperation at a lack of (perceived or otherwise) integration amongst certain nationalities or groups.

I took it to be along some of these lines, but I don't think it was intended as "don't speak English = fraudulent".
