Really fear that we’ll miss his dead ball delivery and creativity next year.

Thank the lord, Vegas.
Wouldn’t call 5ft 10 a midget
From all accounts he chose not to renew. Maybe he'll have a change of heart now Kompany has left the building. We could certainly use a player of his calibre and experience.
Yes he looks pretty tall. I was referring more to his build. I think most of our squad need to get in the gym and build up a bit.

the very little feedback I've seen floating about from Ajax fans is that he isn't up to much - pretty much what you expect tbh from other fansNewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 1:12 pmThank the lord, Vegas.

Just had a watch of him. Observations are that he’s very Maatsenesque - an attacking full back with an eye for goal. More lightweight by the looks of things but some of that footage may be old and he might have filled out a bit. Also seems to have played lots of positions so potentially versatile.
Would be a good signing on a free.

Sky sports now reporting Everton do need to sell before 30th June, along with Newcastle, Forest, Chelsea, Villa and Leicester.

Aged 31 now and deceptively slow, I can't imagine what they see in him.

Twine is miles down the pecking order and tbf he weren’t banging them in from angles last season.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 10:54 amIt's a shame if we sell him as now JBG has gone we have no dead ball specialist. We need to keep him as our new manager can develop his skills the way VK was incapable of doing due to his obsession with Magic Mike.
On face value I understand your reckoning, for me the biggest single problem with tempting JBG back would be contract length and wages (given he was on PL wages). I would have hoped to keep him on but that ship has sailed. Twine is different we have not had a chance to look closely at him for a season and while he did not appear to pull up any trees while out on loan the potential for him to have filled out and strengthened over two close seasons should not be ignored out of hand. For me the new manager needs to bring him back in pre-season and look at his development before judging. Central midfield is not an area we need to be further culling, when we are not short of excess in other areas of the field.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 6:30 pmWhen posters start making a case for keeping JBG, and wanting to give Twine a chance in the new season-just glad these guys are not responsible for culling a hugely over sized squad. Some tough decisions need to be taken, and no time for sentimentality
You can reasonably assume that jbg would have had a contractual drop in salary following relegation so you’d think he’s looking for longer or a fresh challenge before he retires.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 6:50 pmOn face value I understand your reckoning, for me the biggest single problem with tempting JBG back would be contract length and wages (given he was on PL wages). Totally agree Holtyclaret with your proposed departures, with probably a few more names as wellHoltyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 7:29 pmYou can reasonably assume that jbg would have had a contractual drop in salary following relegation so you’d think he’s looking for longer or a fresh challenge before he retires.
Twine has done nothing in 2 years and if as rumoured above we’re about to receive a £4m bid I’d snap their hands off. hell have been v closely monitored last season. Lightweight and with a mid championship ceiling, if that.
The more chaff that can be cut from the squad the more better players can be retained.
Twine, Bastien, churlinov, vignoroux. Weghorst, obafemi, Delcroix, Costelloe,McNally , Roberts and possibly bpf should all be moved on for starters.
Doesn't actually say that. Just says that is what we paid MK Dons for him. I'll be surprised if we get much over half that tbhHahaYeah wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 6:42 pmSunderland and Birmingham City in for Twine at £4M.

Cannot say I have strong opinions on any of the above on your list, nor given the offer would I have a problem being sold; if it is deemed correct by the staff of Burnley. However, I am loath to add him to the bin list simply because of the disruption his career has had due to injury. So far at the higher level he has looked too lightweight, but he has time on his side and demonstrated when fit and enjoying his football has some serious ability. IF and accept it is an ‘if’ at this point he is able to add body-mass and strength to his game then a I think he could yet become a top player, under the right manager and regime… something we clearly have not yet looked to do, given the way his development seems to have hit a brick wall since joining us.Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 7:29 pmYou can reasonably assume that jbg would have had a contractual drop in salary following relegation so you’d think he’s looking for longer or a fresh challenge before he retires.

Does he really have time on his side? Twine will 25 when the season starts. He’s only really got 5-6 seasons of peak football leftelwaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 7:49 pmCannot say I have strong opinions on any of the above on your list, nor given the offer would I have a problem being sold; if it is deemed correct by the staff of Burnley. Or even better just offer them Obafemi and Twine for ConwayWoodleyclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 1:24 amConway at Bristol looks a decent prospect cash and Twine maybe worth a bid ?
Bristol City do want him. They have told their fans that they are trying to get him but said the £5m fee might be too much.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 7:42 pmIf Scott Twine had the potential to make it, the Bristol City manager who brought him in on loan for 5 months, and who previously managed him at MK Dons , would be pushing to get him back. Our club will have had people watching him during his Hull and Bristol City games, where he had the chance to shine at two mid table sides. He seems a lovely lad and seems to get on with everyone, but a bid of £4m is seriously worth considering
ONLY? That’s two three year contracts hitting his peak in three-four.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 8:01 pmDoes he really have time on his side? Twine will 25 when the season starts. He’s only really got 5-6 seasons of peak football left
If so the balls in their court to negotiate. Its never stopped us going after certain players where the club wants more than we expect to pay
Agree with the crux of this Holty but I think Delcroix would **** the champ in all honesty. Be absolutely fine as backup CB/LCB/LB. He was good when deployed at LCB at Villa/Spurs (cup)Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 7:29 pmYou can reasonably assume that jbg would have had a contractual drop in salary following relegation so you’d think he’s looking for longer or a fresh challenge before he retires.
