A few replies to me post totally missing my point, and that is yes I know it's a bit of fun with the players we've got playing but this is a PR exercise in america and getting battered every game in the name of Burnley football club is a waste of time

The tournament organisers probably. But it really isn’t going to be enough money to worry about one way or the other.Blondeclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 11:56 amMy concern would be who is footing the bill for this little exercise?

Re: TST
Well that really would follow the story of this season with the women’s team delivering the only good form

But seriously, women’s football is also very popular in the US so that wouldn’t be a bad thing at all either!

I'd be more worried about the players on upwards of £30k a week and not even getting in the side.

Re: TST
you know that it'll not even get mentioned again? I hardly think that the football league show will start saying that we have had a horrible preseason because we were battered by 7 goals twice in a 7 a side league in America with bunch of celebs. From a PR stand point in America I'd say this is ok, we've sent a side there, got the relevant sponsorships etc. Puts our name out there, the results dont matter and dont count towards anything. Think you're probably taking this far too seriouslyAGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 11:36 amA few replies to me post totally missing my point, and that is yes I know it's a bit of fun with the players we've got playing but this is a PR exercise in america and getting battered every game in the name of Burnley football club is a waste of time

Although i agree with 95% of what you've said and that the results don't really matter, but i would still suggest winning a game or two would improve the image.clarets1978 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 12:10 pmyou know that it'll not even get mentioned again? That’s not there fault though is it? If someone offered any of us £30,000 a week we wouldn’t turn it down. Football is a short career and most of the monies go into pensions etc.KellyClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 12:07 pmThe cost of this is a drop in the ocean compared to player wages.

£30,000 is quite low really compared to some of our players wages.

Re: TST
After watching some of the other games, it seems a little bit more than just 'a bit of fun' - the teams are playing hard and look up for it.
Of course, having JJ run around like a bull in a China shop gets eyes on the club etc but I don't see how getting properly whipped helps in any which way.
If we're to have some fun, I think having a team of 'freestyle' footballers that attempted skill moves etc all the time would have been at least highlight worthy. We were genuinely dross, like, hard to watch.

You spent the whole of last season complaining and claiming you were done with the club or modern day football, now you are doing the same over a tournament that Marvin Sordell and Vizveh are playing in. I am sure you could find something productive to do with your time.

Too easy for people with lets be honest, a fleeting grasp of how the football schedule actually works, to mistake this for yer actual BFC

Shock I complained about last seasons car crash. Yeah I dislike modern day football, but I still have passion for the club, forgive me.

Least you will soon have a new manager, signings and the kit to moan about before we play any proper games.
As for passion for the club

Yeah, you are a snide.
Lets hope to see an ounce of positivity from you between now and May 2025, who knows you may even take in a game live of the club you are passionate about rather than illegally streaming them and contributing nothing.

What would you have, people just agree and be happy with everything that the club is doing?
I went to around 10 games live last season thanks, as always I said I'd be happy to email you my receipts and my clarets points total.

Agreed!
The tournament is still in it's infancy but I think has scope for growth - it's quite entertaining, especially in the extra time (one player gets removed every 3 minutes) . I flicked through a couple last night and Villarreal vs ComoCagliari had 3 vs 3 in extra time end to end with Villarreal eventually scoring a cracker.
Yeah it's a bit of fun, but there's teams really going for it and some games are enjoyable. Reggae Rovers were entertaining yesterday.. just not for us!

Holy sh-it it’s a kick about in the park with some b list celebrities…..are Michael Le Vel and Gino De Campo playing ?
How the feck can people take this seriously or criticise the club in any way ?
And the fact that the yanks will stump up any old amount of cash to the winner means nothing.
All that said if we don’t win are next game I’d get JJ Watts to step down and his dad Curly to take over….that will pump up Le Vel to play better.

Some of the comments on here and social media especially the clubs official channels about this tournament and results so far are mind boggling.
We must have some of the most miserable ‘fans’ on the planet! God knows how they react to any real adversity in their lives.

Re: TST
Prize money equates to around 720k pounds, it’s hardly that important in the grand scheme of things, there are actually American 7 a side teams in this tournament who play together week in week out in America who are obviously going to be better and not full of what you would call veterans.
If you were to put this Burnley team up against the Wrexham team or the Dortmund them it would be a much closer game
It clearly isn’t serious if we have vizeh playing in the team but fair play to him for getting the call to go over, if anything a young lad is going to get his social media profiles boasted from the tournament

You're not factoring in the American attitude to winners and losers. Getting pumped 7-3 and 7-1 is bad publicity. It Is What It Is wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 10:03 amThis TST tournament has yet again put Burnley FC and JJ WATT on the American Sports map.
There are thousands of Americans who had never heard of Burnley FC 24 hours ago.
Any publicity is good publicity.
