Out of interest, how many of those were corners, does it break them down. Because I don’t remember us conceding very many directly from a corner at all.
Sorry I don't know. I can think of a couple v City, 1 v Liverpool, 1 v Arsenal away and possibly Everton at home, might be wrong though.

If Trafford goes to Newcastle, he’ll be their cup goalie for a couple of seasons. Just like he should have been here.

7 penalties ? Do they count as set piece goals?

At Newcastle he wouldn't be in the team. It's very possible he'd be a really good signing for a team who can afford to wait years for him to be ready to play in the Premier League. We were not that team.
Pretty certain he would be starting his fair share next season

Is a sale likely without any involvement of a new manager or is this likely to be purely financially driven by the board ?

I would think the player would want the move regardless, head turned by being in the England camp.

If we sell Trafford for the figures reported that would be the best part of 30m with the VK deal minus any sell on city may have. A couple more sales plus the parachute payment means the new manager should get a decent budget to work with.

Given we've already committed £25 million for Esteve and Tresor. And have offers on the table for Assignon and Brun Larrson the thirty million is already long gone albeit Assignon looks like he is not coming.

And we may well have to pay for a new manager depending on who it is...!

And without getting into another stupid conversation it's quite possible even if we got £15 million for Trafford we wouldn't get £15 million in cash for reasons so obvious it would seem almost impossible to get into an argument about it but nothing is impossible on here.

I would have thought the 30m would have been from the last PL budget, but I’ve no idea. I wish we would get a move on though and appoint someone.

What I don’t understand is apart from Trafford all the Newcastle transfer talk is about having to sell one or two quality players for FFP but are willing to pay £15m for a squad player and potential. Am I missing something?

I don’t understand lots of things about Premier League football and FFP these days. It is indeed strange.

It’s because he’s more than likely not going to be a squad player.

Because some people on here insisted we'd take a huge loss on him. Some nasty things said about the kid on here last season. And of course the fee represents how much other clubs value him.
The only fee represented by another club so far is apparently £15 million though isn't it?
We don't even know the correct figures yet what we actually paid so doubt we'll ever know if we've taken a loss, made profit or just broke even

I don’t personally think he’ll go for £30m unless we get a proper Chelsea/Newcastle/Bayern bidding war which is pretty unlikely, but to answer your question…

It would just underline that those who said that we would make a big loss on him if we wanted to sell really don’t understand what they’re talking about. There was a lot of nonsense written about him on this board last season.
VK didn't help him at all last season but personally I never saw anything from him that made me believe in the hype.
It's typical of English fans to over hype our own

£16m is the figure I keep seeing but I'd have thought we'll get more. We aren't going to be suffering a huge loss anyway.

If Alan Pace can get the deal done soon for the amount quoted or a little bit more, it will at least remove one headache for the incoming manager.
Muric has his faults but he is perfectly adequate for another season in the Championship.

Unless Peacock -Farrell is to become next seasons number one , hence why we have offered him an extra year. :o

Sell big, buy cheap
That’s what Newcastle will do

They’ve got several players worth in excess of £60 million in their squad

Remember Pope suffered another dislocation last season. Will he remain 1st choice there for long if he's vulnerable? May need to bring in someone as more than an understudy.

The apathy when his name was announced, the jeers when he touched the ball and the lack of support. Can’t recall any occasion when, for example, his name was chanted or sung about.

It may well have been Kompany’s fault for persisting with him but the response of the fans was not supportive. Did you ever chant James James James Trafford?

The fans jeering was brought on by VK’s shocking mismanagement. That’s why it would be a hard road back for Trafford. Time to recoup the money and move on.

I was at a couple of away games where “Super James Trafford in goal” was sung (to the tune of Rockin’ all over the world” . I never heard anyone other than the odd individual handing out any audible abuse and I think most people blamed VK for exposing Trafford so much.

Was it not rumoured/reported at the time we signed James Trafford that City would have first dibs at buying him back for some ridiculous fee circa £40m? 🤔

Regardless of how he played:

He was never treated badly by Burnley fans
He should never have been bought
He didn't fit into our style of play
It was completely unnecessary spend
He should never have been given the shirt
Muric should never have lost the shirt

That is all on Kompany, not James Trafford

Absolutely battered on here week in week out by bumba and his mates, groans when his name was announced in the starting 11 and the moronic chants of muric muric muric.I agree with the general consensus though that he was terribly mismanaged and should never have been thrown in at the deep end.

All I'll say is that if it's true that there's a release clause his contract circa 21-22 million and that City have a 20% sell on fee, then it's an even stranger, more pointless signing than what was first apparent.

He does good, release clause triggered, we make minimal profit and lose a starting keeper in the process, or he doesn't do good and we've taken on all the risk when we had a perfectly fine keeper there anyway - really, really strange.

We are nowhere near the size of a club that can take risky, expensive gambles in positions that aren't imperative to fill.

The club truly got ahead of itself last summer, trying to run when it needed to walk, undoubtedly due to Kompany's delusions of grandeur that he sold to Pace and the board.

Given its reported we want £30m it suggests there is no release clause. It’s not been reported anywhere there is a release clause. If there is one then it would be on relegation, there is next to 0% chance we paid 14m rising to 19 with a 20m release clause active in the PL. Also the 20% sell on is always on profit, so you still make £5m or so on the £14m purchase fee even after paying the 20%, if the sale price was 21-22m.

Yeah, relegation release clause and I'm aware the sell on is on profit only. Even with those factored in it was a bizarre deal that looks more like a gamble than anything and for me isn't how a club of our size should make signings - it's careless.

If Trafford becomes our number 1 again next season and has another bad season, he will be worth £5m this time next year. Cash in now, he's not good enough.
Not good enough? Based on what?

He was playing as a PL goalkeeper at 20 years old…..

What were Pope and Heaton doing when they were 20/21?

I smell bulls**t here. Never heard him booed once, more a half hearted yay when team read out on big screen. Maybe the odd individual perhaps?
You're welcome to not believe me, but he was definitely booed before the home game against Bournemouth when his name was read out and was then replaced by Muric for the next home game.

Not good enough? Based on what?

He was playing as a PL goalkeeper at 20 years old…..

What were Pope and Heaton doing when they were 20/21?
Pope might have been delivering milk

Would he have been playing premier league football last season if our incapable manager didn't buy him and select him weekly?

His performances showed he wasn't ready for that level yet.
Macheda was scoring winning goals for Man Utd at 19 he's done nothing since.

You need to decide whether it's Trafford's inability, the manager's insistence on playing him, or the terrible tactics employed?
Plenty of choices there.

And you are almost certainly right.
The whole realm of transfer business needs looking at.
The way deals are done, and payments are structured, is a joke.

This is just untrue. He was booed at Turf Moor when his name was read out.
If he was booed when his name was read out it must have only been a few morons doing it, because I never heard anything.

I never heard anyone boo Trafford when his name was read out at TM Rileyb, I am a season tkt holder and attended all but one home game last season ... So which match(es) are you talking about 🤔
