Why was the betting suspended ?
Bookies probably couldn’t be bothered or don’t have the staff to monitor the market. Very doubtful that there’s anything to read into this type of market.

While I can take or leave Rosenior as manager, I’m really not fussed if he possibly once had a go at us fifteen years ago in the tunnel.

Has 53 pages of debate, reasoning, nonsense, constructive comments, criticism, perceptions, etc, etc, almost got anyone thinking they would now almost welcome and accept any half sensible prospective manager ????

Ghandis, why would Rosenior owe us any loyalty, 15 years ago?

As long as you have never done the same to any opponent, or indeed to our team or members of it, maybe you have some strange valid point, but I don't think that you have.

I understand that this week will be the second round of interviews that JJ was hoping to be involved in.
So it is possible that this week Alan will be choosing to interview those who have declared their interest already, and this will be at least the second time Al has spoken with them.

Potter now likely to go in as Leicester manager.
Hurzeler going in at Brighton.
Surely it's worth another conversation with Cooper to try convince him to join?

Seems strange to not appoint the best man possible if he'd agree to joining

Honestly don’t understand the hype around Van Nistelrooy.
Hasn’t proved anything as a manager yet.

If you want to go Dutch you’d better take a punt on Mark Van Bommel

I've given up trying to decide who I think is the best option.
I'm trying to watch and read up on the various candidates, to find positives on each option.

(The only one I'm struggling with is Rosenior as a lot of my family are Hull Season Ticket holders, so I've followed him closely, not a lot of positives)

Having just checked on Oddschecker all of the so called “candidates” can be backed at 2/1 or longer odds with at least one bookmaker. Rosenior whilst trading at 5/4 with Bet Victor can be backed at 5/1 with Sky Bet.
The markets have no real confidence in any of them being appointed or so it seems at the moment.

It’s understandable we all put a brave face on things and vow our undying support for the new guy. But let’s have it right, Lampard, Rosenior, Parker and Bellamy weren’t anywhere near anyone’s first choice’s when Kompany went to Bayern.

Corberan my number 1 pick. Overperformed at both clubs in this league based on budget. Tactically flexible manager who can play several different styles. Would be interesting to see him given the best squad and largest budget in the league. I also think he’s smart enough to adjust to the PL challenge should we get there. Not sure whether he could be prized out of West Brom though.

Stylistically Rosenior and Knutsen fit the bill. Both like ball dominant teams and the transition to their styles would be minimal. The former is a bit of a Russell Martin style risk though given, like Martin, he didn’t deliver play offs - albeit again the play style would be very similar, while Saints had to completely change their approach, perhaps reducing that risk a touch.

Absolutely not, if it took two months to find the right person then so be it, it’s why interims have been appointed.

A couple of weeks will see an appointment id guess.

Yorkshire Evening Post...

Rosenior then emerged as a lead candidate for the Black Cats but recent reports indicate the 39-year-old has turned down a second interview, instead preferring a move to Turf Moor, where Vincent Kompany has recently departed for German giants Bayern Munich.

Personally would much prefer Lampard over Rosenior.

Frank has managed far bigger clubs and has a much bigger profile to attract young players.

Would tie in with JJ’s ‘not necessarily the biggest name’ comments though.

Turning down the Sunderland job seems a strange move. Would he not be better to at least keep his options open?

It all feels very “meh”. In Lampard, Rosenior, Bellamy, I’m not sure that I’d feel overly confident of an automatic return to the Premier League, which has to be the target.

I’m not overly keen on Parker, but at least he has taken teams up. Perhaps he would be better for this season, with an eye on needing to next season, if he looks to be out of his depth. Not that I want us to have a high turnover of managers.

The ideal must surely be someone that we think can win us promotion AND keep us up the season after. Is that man in the list of names and still in the running - I have my doubts.

So would I.

Northern Echo now saying:

LIAM Rosenior is extremely unlikely to be the next Sunderland head coach - with the former Hull boss keen to assess his options amid strong interest from Burnley.

The Black Cats have held lengthy talks with Rosenior over the course of the past week and the 39-year-old emerged as a frontrunner to take charge at the Stadium of Light.

But in a fresh twist, Sunderland have now been forced to turn their attention elsewhere. The Black Cats want to bring a swift end to what has been a long and drawn out search for Michael Beale's replacement, while Rosenior is thought to be keen to see how the Burnley situation plays out.
