Massive name in global football, mid forties, great experience on and off the pitch as a top class striker, player and club manager... and a bloody decent bloke.
Even mentioning RVN' s name as a potential Burnley FC manager shows massive intent and how far our club is going in the football world.
We have to stick by AP and the board whatever, ( I know making them and their investors money is the name of the game), but I think their passion and commitment is admirable.

It wasn’t a question of what football I wanted to play, though. It was more about, with the players we have, what is the best strategy to get the maximum out of the season? We knew we had to sell players for massive amounts of money, and that meant selling our best players in the winter break. Yes is the answer but not the same as in the Premier League. You need a Pro Licence to manage in the Premier League but a UEFA A Licence, the one lower down, is sufficient to manage in the Football League.

Most managers bring in their own people. When Dyche was sacked, a lot of his back room team went with him, but Kompany came in and replaced even more such as Mark Howard who is also now at Everton.

Because I think most have taken to Bellamy in the way he conducted himself in Kompany’s absence.

Plus I think there’s a lot to be said for continuity since he was part of a team that romped the Championship. He’ll know all the training routines, the patterns they were working on, the players, any issues they’ve had and conversations they’ve taken place, their strengths and weaknesses, the summer transfer plans, etc, etc.

I think you can get a lot of that from Jackson if he stays too, but think there would be a lot of benefits to keeping them both.

That said, I expect he’d want his own team and I’m not sure Bellamy would stay if he were rejected, so it’s unlikely it would just be my preference.

RVN has achieved more as a manager than what kompany had when he joined Burnley, with RVN it’s less about the fact he’s a big name ex player than what Lampard is or Tudor who has managed 10 clubs in 9 years

Thanks for this, really interesting read. Some of the things I really liked:

- clearly very interested in learning about how the tactical side of the game
- has learned from so many of the worlds best managers - Hiddink, SAF, Pelligrini, Ancelotti and from coming up against Slot
- prioritises winning above philosophy but likes attacking football
- the pride/enjoyment he clearly gets from coaching younger players
- talks about his career being a gradual build through the levels and how that benefited him, perhaps the opposite approach of Kompany
