Re: Lancs League 16/6
It was quite a slow start today as well after losing 2 very early wickets. We have a pro now in Salpietro that scores quick and can be quite destructive. Tom Walker is also developing into a very useful all rounder. His second 50 this season.
Enfield are 24/2 from 8

Littleborough seem to be going well against Burnley. They are 92/1 in the 20th over with Hameed, who is sub pro, on 62.

Re: Lancs League 16/6
Another great batting performance from The House on what looked like a very green track.
A top five of Heap, Whitehead, Hassbroek, Salpietro and Walker are arguably the best in the league.
The blue and yellow Powerhouse juggernaut now rolls on to Norden.

What's the usual claim...
WIFI gone off in Burnley?
For what its worth I think Burnley are a good side and will be top 4, but if I was a betting man I'd happily take a bet it will be Darwen and Lowerhouse top 2.
The score rate from your pro always tells a story.

Burnley losing to Nelson in the T20 last night is up there with Wimbledon beating first division high flyers Burnley when Wimbledon were non leaguers!!! I'd be checking dodgy betting patterns if I was on the league committee!! Or maybe Burnley simply aren't that good!!!?

Re: Lancs League 16/6
Strangely Burnley’s two defeats this weekend have seen the pro Erasmus take a long time to get his runs. Last night in the t20 he scored 42 runs in 47 balls and that left the side high and dry in the run chase when the rain came, leaving them behind on DLS.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 8:54 pmBurnley losing to Nelson in the T20 last night is up there with Wimbledon beating first division high flyers Burnley when Wimbledon were non leaguers!!! Today he scored 69 in 116 balls. He hit one six but not a single four.

Re: Lancs League 16/6
My understanding is that was exactly why he was eventually not (controversially) retained by Lowerhouse. He's an absolutely lovely bloke, but in purely cricket terms I think the feeling was he "accumulated" an awful lot of runs, but wasn't "spectacular" or explosive enough for some when it was needed. I looked at the scorecard from Nelson last night and couldn't understand what Burnley were doing to have a good number of wickets in hand and yet fall short of their reduced target. Having seen Nelson play quite a bit I didn't feel their bowling attack was going to cause Burnley (or anyone else!) too many problems.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 9:12 pmStrangely Burnley’s two defeats this weekend have seen the pro Erasmus take a long time to get his runs. Re: Lancs League 16/6
There was never a reduced target for Burnley at Nelso, the rain came and robbed them of the last few overs although it was looking beyond tough by then. Burnley never really got to grips with a chase for a Nelson total that was more than it should have been.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 9:21 pmMy understanding is that was exactly why he was eventually not (controversially) retained by Lowerhouse. Today he held the innings together but in limited overs cricket his runs per ball was nowhere near.
I’ve never met Erasmus but I know a couple of Lowerhouse fans who don’t have a bad word for him but he’s definitely not an explosive batsman. Overall though he has done well for Burnley.

On the Lancashire League website it states that Burnley's target was reduced to 104 in 16 overs, which obviously they failed to make.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 9:27 pmThere was never a reduced target for Burnley at Nelso, the rain came and robbed them of the last few overs although it was looking beyond tough by then. And although I'm not claiming to know Oki well as such, I've chatted with him at various times over a number of years in different situations, including at a T20 just a few weeks back and he really is an absolute gentleman and a completely genuine guy.

I was only following it last night on play cricket but they were chasing 134 until they went off after 16 overs. Ah, I get it. They would have needed to be at 104 after 16 to be leading on DLS when they came off and clearly they weren't.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 9:43 pmI was only following it last night on play cricket but they were chasing 134 until they went off after 16 overs. Re: Lancs League 16/6
I watched Lancs League cricket from the beginning of the 1960s and went regularly for over 40 years. As a Burnley supporter we generally had the upper hand in the local derbies and it was one you always wanted to win more than any other with the exception of East Lancs.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 9:43 pmI like you as a football poster but you struggle with criticism if the cricket team lose, yet you’re always around when Lowerhouse lose? Always strange that some of the lads I went to football win then became enemies with some of us Burnley supporters and some of us Lowerhouse supporters.
I still enjoy seeing Burnley win and still smile when Lowerhouse lose but I’ve got so much more respect now for Lowerhouse than I’ve ever had having seen the results of the efforts of people like David Wren, who I knew really well, and Stan Heaton in particular.
But you can’t change your colours and it will always be Burnley I want to win.

Re: Lancs League 16/6
There is no doubt at all that he is a cracking pro but as has been alluded to he is more an anchor in an innings than a quick run scorer. Incredibly difficult to get out in general but he takes too long to get going if there is any sort of significant chase on. You need players around him that will do that work.I think after seeing it for several years the House faithful wanted to see a pro that was exciting to watch and a change in direction. We had a very exciting South African lined up for the first season without Ocky but then Covid hit and that never happened. Since then we played it safe with a home pro in Parry and then De Swardt. In Salpietro we finally look to have the pro we wanted when we moved on from Ocky.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 9:27 pmThere was never a reduced target for Burnley at Nelso, the rain came and robbed them of the last few overs although it was looking beyond tough by then. For what it's worth Burnley will be right up there. In my opinion they have the best bowling attack and keep it tight. They are capable usually of defending low totals. There isn't much between any of the leading teams and it is just a matter of consistency and luck with the weather.
I was looking at last seasons final table. House and Burnley both won the same number of games and House gained more bonus points yet we all know the outcome. House actually gained more points from the cricket. The difference being Burnley had more No results and Lowerhouse lost those games.
That is what it can often come down to and how tight it really is.

The pro Lowerhouse got in for the Worsley Cup final win at Clitheroe two or three years back was as good as anything I've seen down the years. He was sensational that day, but that was just a one off booking.
