See there is this kind of speculating which is basically saying what you have heard rather than being like other posters with cryptic posts as if it’s a coat of armour to have some inside scope.NewClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 1:44 pmSo only info I have been given on this was weeks ago and I was told a Dutch manager was in the final 5 but not RVN. CT has just said his plan was RVN so that makes my info duff, but if RVN prefers a coaching role at United over us then so be it. I’d only want someone fully committed, not someone who was going to be so attracted to (lesser) roles at bigger clubs.

It doesn't particularly bother me if people want to make crap up. But I do think it's a pretty weird thing to do. If you're self-confidence is so low you need to pretend you know something you don't for approval, you probably need to read a self help book.

I think some of what you heard about a Dutchman but not RVN is likely to be good info. But it seems Pace then went down the RVN route. If RVN has gone for a coaching job above a manager job he would have jumped at the first opportunity. Not what we need. Not really sure he offered that much as a manager but was just a profile. Hopefully Pace knows what he is doing but I have this picture of him running around like a headless chicken and flying here there and everywhere listening to loads of BS from possible applicants.

My worry is Pace might have gone all his eggs in one basket, so who does that leave us with.?

Mark Van Bommel has recently left Antwerp, will know a lot of our players from his time in the Belgium league, would also fit in with the ex player name.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 2:18 pmI think some of what you heard about a Dutchman but not RVN is likely to be good info. Not sure if his ambitions would be to manage in the championship first but I’m sure someone can start a rumour on it

Re: Next manager
For me the 'committed' thing is tricky. By committed do we mean unlikely to get their heads turned by a perceived bigger job? Because in some ways if we are going to get someone who goes on to be successful for us, they equally are likely to be offered roles that a truly ambitious manager would be unlikely to turn down.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 2:18 pmI think some of what you heard about a Dutchman but not RVN is likely to be good info. I'd almost look for a manager who is absolutely committed to being a successful top level manager, and have a structure where we benefit from that, but equally are prepared to replace when ultimately their achievements with us see the big boys calling.

Re: Next manager
A couple of names I've not seen mentioned:
Max Verstappen, Dutch, proven winner, perhaps looking for a new challenge, big name. Unlikely to be able to afford his wages.
Steve Clarke, Not Dutch, mixed results, limited European experience, may well be looking for a new position shortly and we'll need to watch out for other potential suiters like St. Mirren.
Over to you AP.

Re: Next manager
From 3 hours ago :
Fabrizio Romano "Van Nistelrooy - keeping options open".
'What I'm hearing is that Ruud van Nistelrooy is very tempted by this possibility to go back to Manchester United.
“He’s still keeping his options open, but in the last 24-48 hours, van Nistelrooy is really tempted to make this new experience as an assistant coach. So I think there’s a very good possibility.
“I think it could also not be the only addition to the Manchester United staff because there is the intention to change something.”
After confirming Ten Hag will stay as manager for next season, United now look to undergo changes within the backroom staff with the pursuit of van Nistelrooy.'
I wonder if RVN is waiting on the OK from Burnley, and Man U assistant is his back up option.
