Re: Our Affluent friends down the road.
I’m surprised women get paid to play football and more surprised that someone would pay to watch them play. You might as well go up Towneley on a Sunday as it’s a better standard. There’s a massive difference between men’s and women’s football that doesn’t warrant them getting a big wage at all (if any) since the commercial value of a women’s team is probably zero compared to a men’s team.

Women don’t deserve big money as they aren’t good at football. They’re getting paid minimum wage because they are minimum wage players.

Let's hope this scaling-down of funding reaches the mens team as well.

Paid more than top earners at clubs like Padiham for playing a lot lower standard, if they don't like it don't play

Shouldn't this read ... " our Affluent effluent friends down the road " ?
Re: Our Affluent friends down the road.
No doubt the eye watering sums the venkys have thrown around keeping the men's team afloat has had a knock on effect on the women's team
Same old bturds, always spending other people's money and always wanting more

I will repeat from another thread, reading the highway code and watching 3 episodes of Judge Judy does NOT make you a Solicitor.

Next season Arsenal women's team will have a higher average attendance than Burnley men's team.pushpinpussy wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 2:50 pmI’m surprised women get paid to play football and more surprised that someone would pay to watch them play. Those who don't understand the commercial appeal of women's teams are, to be generous, out of touch.

Arsenal womens SEASON tickets last year cost less than an Arsenal mens MATCH ticket

Re: Our Affluent friends down the road.
To be fair aggi, I'd expect dwarf-tossing and hunt-the-thimble would attract packed crowds if they were hyped and promoted to the extent that womens football was.
Re: Our Affluent friends down the road.
It’s all horses for courses I suppose.
Re: Our Affluent friends down the road.
Sadly, there are a lot of the usual comments on this thread. We know Women's football isn't as fast or physical of the Men's game but why does that matter? Football isn't always entertaining, whether it's men or women. For example, the knockout phase of the Euros has been a borefest. Why is this not getting the same scrutiny?
The Women's game is gaining more and more traction with every passing season. The standard will improve over the coming years and it's appeal will get greater. My best mate is running an Girl's team and they're having a great time. The atmosphere seems very different from the Boy's game - it's a lot more encouraging and enjoyable from coaches and parents alike.
The sad thing here is Rovers not backing their Women's team. This shows the attitude a lot have towards their game. It's seen as a dispensable part of the club, but it shouldn't be.

Re: Our Affluent friends down the road.
They will do, but if you make it virtually free to attend an event at the Emirates people will watch anything.
They also had 7 home games which attracted crowds of just over 3,000 each time last season for games at their home ground.
Re: Our Affluent friends down the road.
Neither are the women playing for Blackburn ladies or they'd be at a higher level getting paid a higher wage
Re: Our Affluent friends down the road.
i'm pretty sure the braindead ones who slag off womens football have never genuinely watched it. They just think its cool to slag it off. look at me, what a lad. waheeey. same characters that slag off the mens team too btw.
thick as 2 short planks the lot of them.

3,500 is the capacity for their other stadium. Next season they are moving to having the vast majority of their games at the Emirates which will see their average attendance have a hefty bump.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 8:38 amThey will do, but if you make it virtually free to attend an event at the Emirates people will watch anything.

From what I remember tickets are something like £10-£20 so considerably cheaper but you're also getting 50,000 into the Emirates buying drinks, overpriced twixes, pies, scarves, shirts, etc.

Re: Our Affluent friends down the road.
So how many do you have to watch to qualify? I know it's an awful programme, but them Solicitors make a good wedge, I reckon I could stomach eight or nine episodes (maybe a dozen if I'd a case of beer) if that'd get me a soliciting job.Volvoclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 9:05 pmI will repeat from another thread, reading the highway code and watching 3 episodes of Judge Judy does NOT make you a Solicitor.
