Douglas Is Cancelled.

Post by Darnhill Claret » Thu Jul 04, 2024 2:53 am

I thought there was an original post, following the first episode, but I couldn't find it.
Just wanted to add that I've just binge watched the series and really enjoyed it, despite the disparaging remarks I read last week.
Maybe the comments I read were on X.

I will give it a watch on catchup, itv will be advertising it until Christmas because they have very few programs, they have become the equivalent of the odious 2BR radio station but to the televisual world.

Well, we started to watch the first episode and we both decided, about halfway through, to give it a swerve.

Thought it was getting nowhere fast, full of cliched, slick talking that smacked of self indulgence by the script writers. Just our opinion and observation you understand.

By all means give it a try and see what you think, but it certainly wasn't for us I'm afraid.

To be honest, we felt exactly the same after the first episode, but it did improve quite dramatically.

Hugh Bonneville is a very talented actor but this dog of a script challenged even his numerous talents.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an itv drama that’s been worth watching.

It’s like being forced to go back to 1997 all round at the moment…

Watching adverts 🤮

I found watching the hotel scene really uncomfortable.

The wife is watching and I fully agree. The daughter is particularly annoying.

It was odd early on, as they set the scene and got the characters set up, so you knew how they interlocked. Then the script became very sharp and had some real bite. A good end.
