Rumours that he could be coming back anyone else heard of this rumour, if so just shows how toxic things became down at the Turf...

Re: JBG
Superb news if it happens, he was outstanding in the VK championship season.
Re: JBG
I would certainly have him back on a 1 year deal at the right money. Squad needs the experience, and with question marks over Tresor/Amdouni staying along with Ramsey's fitness we may well need him in that number 10/central role.

Even if Joey didn’t like VK it hardly constitutes it being toxic.

Re: JBG
I've said on this board before that JBG created more chances than anyone else last season despite nowhere near as many minutes as other players.
Goes under the radar. Fantastic player and someone to set an example to our younger players.

Re: JBG
Excuse me for being a cynic, because I liked JBG and he has been a fabulous player for us, but this sounds to me that his agent has in 6 or 7 weeks been unable to find him a new club, and contact been made with ourselves by him or his agent-he may be even training with us in the absence of not having another club.We had posters on here saying he could easily find a PL club. With our squad size, for me I think this would be a backward step as you are denying progress in many of the wide players we have if he plays, and even the likes of Ramsey and Massengo could be denied opportunities

We need to move on.
The squad needs trimming.
A fantastic servant but let’s look to the future now.

Re: JBG
The only teams I’ve seen him being linked with have been Oxford & Portsmouthwarksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 11:46 amExcuse me for being a cynic, because I liked JBG and he has been a fabulous player for us, but this sounds to me that his agent has in 6 or 7 weeks been unable to find him a new club, and contact been made with ourselves by him or his agent-he may be even training with us in the absence of not having another club.We had posters on here saying he could easily find a PL club. He has a young family and is reluctant to move so far away from the area
I’d be happy for him to resign

Superb signing if it happens - totally capable of being one of the best centre mids in this league.

Re: JBG
If JBG is to come back, I wonder if that means 1 or 2 wide men leaving for a fee.
Re: JBG
Mentioned on the other thread, can see him playing centre mid like we saw under VK in the latter half of the promotion season. Parker typically plays with two 8’s alongside a more defensive sitter (Cullen). I’d be happy with this albeit does suggest outbound movement in that area (Berge/Brownhill), could be wrong.

Not sure why it suggests outbound?RVclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 11:58 amMentioned on the other thread, can see him playing centre mid like we saw under VK in the latter half of the promotion season. Starting-
--Berge--Brownhill
------Cullen
Rotation-
-Ramsey--Guddy
----Massengo

Aye maybe you are right. Not sure Massengo is a natural DM though, but take the point.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 12:03 pmNot sure why it suggests outbound?

Re: JBG
I don't think he had an option - clearly the Kompany/Bellamy relationship had broken down irretrievably.

Re: JBG
Could it be he’s seen the rates of UC and thought better accept any deal which has been on the table.
Definitely don’t need a 33 year old winger on the books move on.

Re: JBG
I thought that's exactly what Massengo is? I recall him sitting just in front of Brizzle's defence when he came on against us at the Turf.
There's also CJ Egan-Riley, who could be a rotation option at DM. Who knows, I wouldn't completely write him off.

i think he had a offer from Germany but was waiting and not rushing into anything and if he came back for a season i thi think with is experience and knowledge will benefit the younger players..

Re: JBG
I'm not so sure about the comparison between the two.
Barnes was always the dressing room nutter, always involved in anything going on, with Tom Heaton often his victim (although Tom thinks the world of him). JBG is very much a quieter guy, always called Smiler by Sean Dyche because he doesn't very often. But I do think the dressing room benefits from strong, experienced players.

Re: JBG
Not met either but Jay seems even quieter than JBG but two elder statesmen better than one.
I suppose it depends why JBG would come back- no other local opportunity or happy VK gone and Bellamy back?

Re: JBG
JBG in the champ is a cm or number 10, if signing JBG back clears the way to sell twine for 4 or 5m then it’s worth doing
Re: JBG
JBG was one of the few who looked like he cared last season. He suffered less with injuries and he did well given his age and the level.
He may be quiet but he'll be respected.

Top quality in this league. Top, top.
Re: JBG
I have the feeling this might be what CT was alluding to.
Would be a brilliant signing, and a clear sign Parker is an upgrade on VK if he can recognise the value of experience over youth and getting the right age balance in a team.

Re: JBG
We have countless players who’s days are to come, but running low on the experienced ‘been there, bought the T-Shirt’ types. Let us remember priority 1 is promotion. Whether we need JBG beyond that is up for debate.

Not in isolation but changing room cliques and openly unhappy players go somewhere to create a toxic environment.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 11:42 amIt is a bit laughable

Kompany made a mess of things I just hope Parker can bring some sort of stability to the squad of players.

Re: JBG
Just to counter the above arguments; he's a great passer of a football( and they are in short supply at Burnley currently), rarely gives the ball away in tight situations, is the 'game up' for all 33 year old? Don't think for a moment he would be employed as a winger but if he did find himself out wide he can cross a ball better than any of the other '8 on the books'. A popular player with .much still to offer both on and off the pitch.
Anyway, it's a yes from me.
