Which airline are you flying with and where from please?
We're flying out from Manchester on the Saturday and flying back on the following Tuesday. This is with Ryanair. £250 all in

Interesting that the academy are also playing fixtures against Celtic and Hearts. Would the first team be on the same dates meaning both teams being both their squads at the same time?

I've also been looking and there's no direct flights to either Seville or Jerez from any airports other than down south.
Where you flying to?

There are direct flights with Ryanair from Manchester to Seville, but it might not be played anywhere near Cadiz so I’d hang fire booking.

I wonder if the Cadiz game came about through the Pires negotiations? Or is it just pure coincidence?
Whenever Cádiz mentioned Burnley they called us their close friends after the friendly at the Turf, saying how well they were treated etc, great feedback about our staff & owners. I hope & have a feeling that the training camp will be at Estepona as the facilities are top notch. Only an hour away from Malaga, 1.5 from Cadiz & Saville, as for fans a fantastic town & easy location to get to & 10 mins for me.😀

Details revealed for Burnley's friendly fixtures under new Head Coach Scott Parker

Burnley FC are pleased to confirm our pre-season preparations ahead of the upcoming season.

The Club will be playing a number of behind closed doors games at the training ground, including fixtures against Barnsley, Celtic, Hearts, Newcastle, and Spanish team Leganes.

The Clarets’ game with the newly promoted La Liga outfit will take place before the squad fly out for a training camp in Spain.

During their time in Spain, Scott Parker’s men will finish their preparations with a game against Cadiz on Sunday 4th August.

Please note, the venue for the Cadiz match is still to be confirmed and supporters are advised not to book travel arrangements at this stage. The Club will provide a further update in due course.
Presumably we'll be starting these friendles any day now, with 5 to play before the training camp in Spain ?

We've played all five, with five defeats, no goals scored and 45 conceded. Parker's sacking to be announced this afternoon.

As the friendly at the end of the training camp in Spain is on Sunday August 4th I'm assuming we're heading out there somethiing like Monday 29th July ? If that is the case we have less than a fortnight from today to play the other 5 friendlies

What is it with the club not playing close season friendlies at the Turf - it was just the same last season. All the pre-season matches were played abroad.

You would have thought the club could benefit by holding at least ONE game at the Turf if only to test out ground / pitch facilities ahead of the new season - on the pitch and off, and make a few quid in the process.

This must surely be a board decision.

I just don't get it.

Pitch and its surrounds aren’t ready. I looked at it on Saturday and there’s still quite a bit to do.

Can’t this year. We asked for an away game on opening weekend to give the new pitch an extra week. But this is now the third year without one on the Turf and there’s only been one public away game in the UK in that time, the one at Shrewsbury two years ago.

I mentioned this last season - the players didn't get a game on the Turf until they faced Villa, City and Spurs and got thumped each time.
You'd think a friendly at home would benefit the players - certainly the new additions to play on the Turf at least once before the season starts for real.

Amazes me Hugill was getting on the pitch for the first team given the size of the squad we currently have.

I suppose the beauty of the new manager is that he has to look at absolutely everybody at his disposal. Maybe he seems someone in our youth setup who might work well with a more experienced player?

Blank slate manager not a bad thing for us at all. Intrigued for the first game.

Any details on the team or who played Tony?

3-1 defeat not ideal unless it was heavily rotated/younger players.

(I am a bit panicky about the Parker era)

Given Huggill was our goalscorer and he's probably our 6th/7th choice midfielder I'd say it was heavily rotated with players probably getting no more than 30 minutes each.

I've no details at all - but I wouldn't be concerned about the result at all. We don't have a clue who played and for how long etc.

Yeah I agree. I’m not bothered about watching them at all.

Not that I’d object to one against a big European team at Turf Moor once a season, but otherwise have little interest in them.

I'd have to disagree. With the exemption of the big club foreign tours, i think most clubs would be more than happy to have their entire pre-season behind closed doors.

Not sure how you have come to that conclusion, there are very few clubs who don’t play public friendlies.

Not sure how you have come to that conclusion, there are very few clubs who don’t play public friendlies.
The management and players, you'd imagine, would prefer to prepare without the crowds cry arsing if they don't see a particular player or they don't show match intensity.

I wouldn't mistake doing something for being happy about it. I work from an office park, i'd much rather WFH, for example.

This view of football, where the fans are a problem and not the only reason for the sport's existence, is bizarre to me.

If they wanted them behind closed doors they’d do that. Playing in front of crowds is better preparation.
