He conceded a lot of goals in the early games and then he seemed to suffer for that.
Having said that, he never managed to do what Muric did against Everton & Brighton.

He may not have, but he forced others into mistakes by loitering on the ball and making some poor passes. Whether it's because he's still very young or down to his stature the main issue I could see is a lack of commanding his area which will always be exploited by opposition.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 5:45 pmTime will tell with Trafford but he wasn’t helped last season with the ridiculous decision to leave him in as long as we did. I think he was very lucky to get so much faith put into him by Kompany. He should learn from those bad times. I just don't really see any evidence to show his potential. I hope he proves me wrong!

That might have been true 30yrs ago, but now goalkeepers are better with their feet, most back passes go between the sticks, you only need to watch England, city, Liverpool etc to see proof.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 5:52 pmOne goal was a million to one chance rebound and the other was a a bad control yes but that back pass should NEVER of been on target, it should be wide just incase that happens

Two horrendous errors and the one at Wverton came after he’d got away with it twice. And the second one was downright shocking which I think Josh Cullen summed up better than I can.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 5:52 pmOne goal was a million to one chance rebound and the other was a a bad control yes but that back pass should NEVER of been on target, it should be wide just incase that happens

Two questions.
1: How tall is he.
2: Can he use his feet (no silly replies please)

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets add new goalkeeper with signing of Hladký
I think Trafford should go for three reasons.
The first is that he will bring in a lot of money, around £20m if reports are to be believed, and he's one of three players we've got who will command that sort of fee.
The second is that if he plays again and makes a mistake, the fans will be absolutely all over him. As others have said, he was absolutely hung out to dry by his so-called manager, but too many fans were all too willing to take the opportunity of having a pop at him.
The third is that we now have an experienced goalkeeper which is what we probably need above a developing youngster.

Yes he can use his feet
With a normal tape measure he's 6ft 4
With the tape measure they used on Trafford he's 7ft 3

Good signing, especially with no transfer fee involved.
Agent fees/signing on bonuses.. but at least there's no transfer fee ontop aswell.

Hladky should have come in last season when we were linked and been number 2 instead of spending the money on Trafford but we live and learn. I think it’s an excellent signing
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets add new goalkeeper with signing of Hladký
I really hope we keep Trafford, baptism of fire last season and he was a rabbit in the headlights. If he’d of been dropped after 4 games and used in cup games only we wouldn’t be hounding him out now. Should have done this and loaned him out in January at a decent level go help him develop.
If anyone has dropped the ball on this one it’s BFC, such a massive shame as I don’t think we’ll get to see him develop into a very good goal keeper and a future England international.

Yes, I agree. Trafford is a great keeper in the making. He needs to be nurtured under Lady Penelope's bxtch and grow into our number 1 until we sell him for big money.SirBob wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 6:24 pmI really hope we keep Trafford, baptism of fire last season and he was a rabbit in the headlights. Sorry, that's just wrong.
Everton: dithering on the ball unaware (i assume) of Calvert Lewin closing him down
Brighton: Back pass shouldn't be on target? Come on, my gran could have blocked that

add..
Spurs: Beaten at near post because he transfers his weight on to his right foot (gambles)
Muric is a very inconsistent goalkeeper to say the least. The way some people defend him is remarkable.

Not sure on this one personally. The times I watched Ipswich (got a mate who’s a town fan) he seemed to have mistake / error / heart stopping moment in him. I suppose not too dissimilar to our previous two keepers. So I’ll need to reserve judgement, but at the minute if it’s him or Trafford, I’d play Trafford as he’s younger with more potential.

Trafford is a good shot stopper he made some brilliant saves, his weakness is not commanding his area on corners and free kicks the Arsenal game a prime example

Green for sure, and weak on crosses.
But he didn't make many actual mistakes.
In fact he made plenty of very good saves.
A case of being too inexperienced for what we needed behind the weak defenders we had.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets add new goalkeeper with signing of Hladký
You can't command the area on corners if your surrounded by 3 or 4 big opposition lads because your idiot manager think it's better to mark zones. Get off Trafford's back. Also your keeper can't play out if your own players are pressed to hell because most PL managers know what they are doing.vancouverclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 7:54 pmTrafford is a good shot stopper he made some brilliant saves, his weakness is not commanding his area on corners and free kicks the Arsenal game a prime example

Hopefully we now have an experienced goalkeeper. And hope that puts an end to the weekly soap opera of rookie goalkeeper versus quirky goalkeeper. One that can confidently command his area or not feel the need to prance about it like he's Franz Beckenbouar.

Trafford made a lot of very good saves! I wasn’t his biggest fan and I think his biggest problem was not being able to command his box. But to say he hardly made any good saves suggests a clouded memory (or selective memory).
Anyway, good luck to Hladky! Hope he does well.

Good solid signing. Fully expect him to be No 1 keeper. Be good to have some experience between the sticks again ( along with a manager who sees the benefit of this).

She doesn’t need to be professional to comment correctly on this.
The back pass shouldn’t have been on target, no question. But it was Murics fault it went in. Stevie Wonder could have trapped that…. No! Wait. Andre Gray could’ve trapped that ball, it was that simple.
Muric wasn’t half the keeper Trafford is. We will see that going forward. As far as Burnley performances are concerned, Muric was perfect for our style of play when we were over-running teams. When they attacked, there was always a goal in them. Set pieces and corners were a joke. Big lad like him should be wiping ‘em out on his way to collect the ball, instead we got Brian Jensen levels of courage from the “mad kosovan”. Better at football than keeping. Can’t wait to have a look at the Ipswich board come Xmas…

Trafford no better at commanding his box but his shot stopping was way better. Surely everyone can see his potential? Not clearly better than Muric, but better all the same.
Anyway, welcome Hladky. Get amongst ‘em lad.

We’re heading towards the 2024-25 season with only weeks to go can we please move on from the Trafford -Muric debate ,the bottom line was that Trafford was too immature to be playing in the Prem and Muric was an entertaining showman who could be brilliant one minute and a nightmare 5 minutes later, it’s all water under the bridge The Ego is no longer here let’s get behind whoever’s left and smash The Championship.

When we played Brentford at home the ball was spooning into the top corner of the net and Ivan Toney was running straight for the ball with Muric on his line (couldn't get any momentum because the ball was travelling so slowly). He stood there jumped and got absolutely clattered full pelt off Toney but again, put his body on the line for the cause - fully committed.bobinho wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 10:03 pmShe doesn’t need to be professional to comment correctly on this.

We didn't see anything of the like from Traff, anytime there was a potential of contact he shirked it and as for the 'shot stopping', the save %s speak for themself.
