Emery doesn't get many wrong but I thought he was a pretty poor defender. There was a goal in a home game (Don't remember against who tbh) when even a Sunday league defender would have stayed on his feet and he just threw himself on the floor and made it easy for the opposition. Was he good going forward ? Yes he was ok. Was he good defensively, not remotely.

I'd like us to be able to, though.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Luckily for you, Assignon won't be signing, there is zero chance he will sign...I wouldn't want us to sign him
Similar to my previous predictions... I predicted Viktor Gyokeres would never sign for us when our fans had delusions of grandeur about him potentially coming or Ian Maatsen, where I said it wouldn't happen after only a week with us!

Assignon is a good player, his energy is very much like Maatsen.
Would have loved to see him back, but hey ho.

Expect us to go with 2 senior keepers this year plus young lad stepping up to make the 3. Trafford still looking Newcastle bound.

With the rumours/links you have heard, do you expect us to go into next season with a very strong squad? So a lot of our best players will likely stay.LongsideClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 8:50 pmExpect us to go with 2 senior keepers this year plus young lad stepping up to make the 3. Anything in the Nixon links to Rodak and Travers as potential new number ones for us? Hoping we can do a little better than that but both seem steady away for this level.LongsideClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 8:50 pmExpect us to go with 2 senior keepers this year plus young lad stepping up to make the 3. Travers won Bournemouth’s POTY that season to be fair, despite Solanke bagging 30.

Depends what you call strong but yes. Numbers obviously need to come down thoughclaretskeith wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 8:54 pmWith the rumours/links you have heard, do you expect us to go into next season with a very strong squad? So a lot of our best players will likely stay.
Expect Trafford and Odobert to go sooner rather than later. Weghorst will go too whenever that is. McNally off to another champ club on a perm soon enough.
Expect usual suspects may be loaned/sold this summer: Twine, Obafemi, Bastien if we get suitable offers
Berge probably goes at some point aswell and who knows who else may be subject to offers etc
That still leaves us with lots of very good players at this level and obviously there will be incomings as well.

Which positions have you heard would be priorities for incoming (apart from new keeper)? I would guess a proven centre forward / target man and a central midfielder if Berge does leave.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Personally can’t see us signing another striker when we’ve got 4 (not inc Amdouni & Weghorst) and Parker plays a system with 1 striker. That would make an already unbalanced squad even more so!Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 9:13 pmReally hoping Berge can stay of all of the ones mentioned!

Not specifically yet. Would think cm would be one though, reasonably well stocked at CF currently with Foster, Jay Rod and Hounondji plus Amdouni and Obafemi who play off the striker and Weghorst still to sell.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 9:13 pmReally hoping Berge can stay of all of the ones mentioned!

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I’m not at all convinced with the physical and mental fitness of Rodriguez and Foster. We could easily see a period of time when both of these aren’t available. And Hountondji is an unknown quantity who might not even be up to it at that level. I’m assuming Obafemi won’t be here come September 1st either.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
If a lot of those players do end up going, I reckon most of our incomings will need to be home grown players? That's probably a good thing but it might be quite costly!

Can’t say I’m surprised that Odobert is on the move. We should get a fairly good fee for him too. Any news on Tresor?

Villa are throwing a bit of cash about at the moment and Diaby is about to move out to Saudi. They could do worse than bring in Odobert

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Personally I'd like to see a genuine physical centre forward option like Kieffer Moore, capable of winning the arm wrestle and creating a forward platform. I'm not sure we have that type (Foster is an all-rounder and could be break out but is better facing goal than with his back to it, Jay drops off, Hountondji is going to be raw as hell). Impossible to overstate the importance of Barnes 2 seasons ago.LongsideClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 9:18 pmNot specifically yet. We'll need another option at left back unless Delcroix is seen as a left back by Parker. Leaving aside goalkeeper, the other area we're a touch short is wide right, oddly enough, because most of our wingers and creative players prefer the left.
A central midfielder is only really needed if and when Berge or Brownhill depart.

Did we not pay him last season?

So 3 of the 4 keepers gone, and guess which one most Burnley fans would have wanted rid of.
