Away Kit at 5
Re: Away Kit at 5
The third is very similar, but white with claret and blue collar and cuffs. It's lovely

Re: Away Kit at 5
That’s how I’m imagining I’ll look in the new away top
The reality could be a little different
Re: Away Kit at 5
You say that, but look at Schalke, they are from a big mining area, and their tunnel is formed to look like a mine shaft, and it was commented on a lot during the Euros how ace it was as a nod to the history of the town.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 7:29 pmEvery kit in modern football seems to be paying homage or reflecting something from club or towns history. Nobody is going to look at the shirt and think ‘oh aye yes Burnley’s mining history’.
It’s still a nice shirt though

I’m not saying there’s an issue with shirts having a meaning I was replying to the post that asked what relevance the collar had. The answer is nothing. Re: Away Kit at 5
When they said black and pink I was expecting something a bit less dull than what they've gone with. Will probably get the shorts though for footy.
All this tying kits back to some heritage or whatever is total ********. Looking forward to a kit release where someone just says they've gone with these colours/design cos they like the look of them.
Both kits this season have been released with a load of absolute guff about what they mean. They mean jack, lads, they're just football kits.

Nice kit and don't mind the attempt at some back story, even when we all know it is just spin.
Still, I'd rather a black shirt attributed to mining, than a bright orange kit attributed to the colour of vomit on Hargreaves street.

Not really a fan of round collars, but this is definitely a nice shirt.
Big fan of the badge in pink and black too, really works.

Has anyone contacted Castore to ask what shade of black the kit is?

Did you want them to have a lump of coal on each shoulder and the player to wear a miner's helmet for the night game's, would that of made it more obvious for you123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 10:51 pmI’m not saying there’s an issue with shirts having a meaning I was replying to the post that asked what relevance the collar had. Why does it have pink in it? Why not black with claret? I think that would look very smart!
Shirt is ok. Daughter likes it. I’m a bit ‘meh’ about it.

You are completely taking what I am saying wrong, I like the shirt and don’t care that I can’t see a reference to mining in it. I initially replied to a poster who asked what relevance the collar has, which I said it doesn’t.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 6:30 amDid you want them to have a lump of coal on each shoulder and the player to wear a miner's helmet for the night game's, would that of made it more obvious for you![]()

Pink is trendy, a few teams have pink away kits this season.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 7:22 amWhy does it have pink in it? Why not black with claret? I think that would look very smart!

I predict we will have a full pink away kit next season or the one after.

Re: Away Kit at 5
The classic football shirts home kit was the first I've bought for years. But half tempted by this away kit. Waiting for the third kit to be released to decide between the two though. Think similar to the p3 computers kit from the early 00's.

I really like the colour of this pink, I prefer it to the 22/23 3rd kit pink which was too bright by comparison.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 7:22 amWhy does it have pink in it? Why not black with claret? I think that would look very smart!

Agree with the general point that introducing subtle touches of claret and blue would look good also though.
I’d still like to see a version of that off white Arsenal shirt they did with claret replacing the ref ‘veins’ running through it. That was a quality alternative strip.

You'd never get it so straight from a distance!jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 5:14 pmI like it but the collar looks like a pearl necklace from a distance.

It does, the shape on the collar represents these
Re: Away Kit at 5
Just had a look at it in the club shop. Nice shirt, little lighter in colour than I anticipated.
Two nice shirts so far this season. The huge sponsor in the back does spoil them though. No need for it to be so big.

Right, Ok. I'd rather not have pink or black at all, it's rather naff to be following trends.

Re: Away Kit at 5
Agreed... it sometimes seems like the back story is how the manufacturer lures in whoever makes the decision on the kit. I mean the home kit is fairly decent except it is obviously a stock shade and not our traditional colours (or even close) Nothing says "We are the Longside" like having an almost random purple colour instead of Claret.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 5:05 pmCoal = black shirt. Not sure where the pink comes from. They don't half come up with some shite. Mining isn't even the industry we're most famous for.
Edit: I don't mind the shirt BTW, just find the "back story" a bit unnecessary and very tenuous.
The mining symbolism is tenuous at least... and the strange slightly pink trim doesn't go with any other part of the supposed "story". What next... will the team be wearing the traditional wears of an 1800's cotton mill worker? Just give us a decent kit and stop with the marketing BS.
That said... if the team win the league, I won't care what the kit looks like...

I do wonder what comes first; the story then the shirt design or vice versa.Hanoverusaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 4:06 pmAgreed... it sometimes seems like the back story is how the manufacturer lures in whoever makes the decision on the kit. Re: Away Kit at 5
I'm a bit disappointed in it.
When I saw the teaser I expected a lot more pink.
But you can't please everyone! I was in the minority of liking the yellow one last season.

Popped into the club shop the new away kit looks pretty good up close, still lots of umbro stuff in there.

That’s a surprise. When we switched from Errea to Puma in 2010, Puma hit the roof when they saw we were selling off the Errea stuff and demanded it be removed immediately.

Castore have purchased part of Umbro sports license so I think it’s probs in their best interests to keep the Umbro gear thereClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 6:21 pmThat’s a surprise.
