Personally Sheff Utd will not be a threat to us.
QPR, Stoke and Dirty Leeds are the teams to watch imo
Sheff united have lost some players so squad depth might be an issue for them but on paper I would say they have one of the strongest starting 11s.
Obviously a long way to go and they might still lose a few

Sheff Utd signing the League One POTY from Peterborough too, Harrison Burrows - 12 goals 18 assists from left back. Also linked with Michael Cooper from Plymouth. Wilder knows the club and league, I would be surprised if they aren’t top 6 at a minimum.

I remember when we signed the league 1 player of the year who scored 20 goals and 13 assists.

Sheff Utd and Luton will both be pushing for automatic promotion, it won't be the walk in the park a lot seems to think.

You can get Stoke at 25/1 and QPR at 33/1 at present on odds checker.
Leeds are 7/2
Burnley second favourites at 8/1
Above is outright winner.

When Burnley were linked with Burrows, Nixon didn't think he was ready for a full season in the championship and he would need to drift in and out.
I've not seen him though.

When I say linked.
It could have just been Burnley fans linking him by questioning Nixon everyday for gossip.
Was about a month ago.

Guess this is semi good news, as if we were interested, it would be because Berge was likely to be off. Hopefully not the case now

I don't think the two situations were connected in that sense. I got the impression we were monitoring O'Brien in case Berge did go. O'Brien going to LA doesn't mean Berge won't be going..just that O'Brien won't be his replacement.

The talk was that Beyer, Al-Dakhil and Ekdal will miss the start of the season. Beyer and Al-Dakhil have been missing for quite some time and there are no guarantees that they will be at 100% and stay at that level of fitness anytime soon. Delcroix doesn't exactly have an unblemished injury record for someone so young either. So maybe we aren't quite as stacked in that area as it first appears.

Delcroix injured at the moment to, only fit cbs at the moment are O’Shea esteve mcnally Egan Riley, which is probably why we haven’t seen McNally leave yet

Agreed. He looked very raw early on last season and I was very unsure about him at that level, but he stuck at it, learnt quickly from experience and looked a PL quality defender in the end, despite playing in a team getting tubbed almost every week. If he does go, we'd better get some serious money (and sell on clauses!)

Beyer,Al Dakhill, Ekdal and even Delcroix are sick notes. For that reason we need to keep O Shea-he is a warrior almost in the Tarks mould. Challenges and tackles hard, but never missed a game.He is also quick and great in the air, and at set pieces. Unless the bid is for £20m-ish would keep him, as I think he could be one of the stand out centre halves in the Championship, and his value will continue to increase

What’s up with Al - Dakhil? In Belgium squad until Kompany ruined him last season at full back.
Really not that fussed about O’Shea sure he’ll be fine in Championship but we’ll be in same boat with him in 12 months should we get promoted again.

O’Shea would have benefited from playing alongside and learning from a decent PL standard centre half for a long period of the season, someone like Craig Dawson.
Different level, granted, I’m sure Gary Cahill developed a lot playing alongside John McGreal.
Having to play with different CHs who weren’t up to the standard each week won’t have helped O’Shea.

The reverse could also apply here.
I know O'Shea gets a fair bit of credit for effort, but his marking and positioning was a bit poor.

O’Shea started like a car crash but from about December onwards he definitely became one of the stronger performers in a terrible team. I think he will be key this season.

For all O’Shea is a good player and there is more to come. Would he going or Berge going affect our chances of promotion more?
Berge would be the one that I’d be keeping, above all others.

Agree on marking, positioning and that’s where an experienced CH would have helped him.
I’ll put this on the reverse, O’Shea was probably the pick of the CH’s to have the physical and mental attributes to play in the PL for a sustained period, the others weren’t.

Totally agree.
We can lose ANY other player and they can easily be replaced by others within the current squad - apart from Berge. There’s nobody else on his level.

As good as O shea is at this level, for me if Beyer is fit the cb pair should be him and Esteve. It's almost cheating to have a pairing that good at this level.

Beyer found out last season and O’Shea looked better when Beyer was ruled out. With the defenders we currently have I’d start with O’Shea & Estève.

100%
He can get us promoted
And he's shown he's PL quality. It's therefore a position we wouldn't need to upgrade. Which would cost us a fortune
He's worth £25m+ to us, easily. Probably alot more

I’d have Beyer and Esteve in the centre and O’Shea at right back. He played there at WBA several times and was very good.

I agree to an extent….but our team needs to be for now and the championship instead of talking about last season and the Premier League.
We mustn’t forget that Beyer was exceptional at bringing the ball out of defence and starting attacks off. Not sure many of our other defenders are as good as Beyer at this.
That said, it’s a nice problem to have! We genuinely have 5 or 6 centre halves who are arguably the best in the entire league.

O'Shea was as calamitous as anything I've seen at Burnley the first half of the season. He certainly improved as things went on but he played his part in us being statistically one of the defensively worst sides the Premier League has ever seen.
Nothing to say Beyer wouldn't have improved similarly, he's younger and for me has a higher ceiling and we now know he was being pushed to play through the pain which ended disastrously.
He has also played RB so perhaps there's room for both of them in the side.

The key to our promotion is O'Shea and Esteve at cb, Beyer sitting in front and 2 raiding full backs. We just have to tighten up defensively from last year's xxxx show.

Why would Beyer playing a position he has never played in his life be a good move? Cullen will be just fine playing as the holding midfielder at this level. I would prefer round pegs in round holes.
