Twine and McNally cost us more than Conway is likely to leave for.

It's a deal that makes sense because the squad is so big but that doesn't necessarily make it a good deal.
What was Twine and McNally combined, 6-8 mill tops?

Not sure that 8 mill would get Conway - it's good deal for both parties.

Worth pointing out that Conway's record at Championship and U21 level compares very favourably with Liam Delap and he's just gone for a fee potentially rising to as high as £20m. It's only Conway's contract situation that seems to be significantly lowering his value. If it was a straight swap for McNally and Twine it would seem we'd be getting a very good deal.

According to Transfermarkt, when converting to £’s, combined they cost £4m (£2.45m, £1.55m respectively).

Bristol rumoured to want £5m for Conway, ooc in a year and training with the U21’s apparently. On paper it’s a small profit, but I liked Boyanno’s post because I think if we looked to sell both seperately we should be looking for ~£4m and £3m respectively so it feels we might be “over paying” a bit in that respect.

I’d much rather we were discussing Churlinov & Bastien for potential moves to be honest.

Yeah I thought it was something like a deal that 'could' rise to 5 mill for Twine and McNally 'could' rise to 3 mill. Can imagine those figures on transfermarkt are roughly correct and again, similar to Conway's fee.

Worth noting, how long does McNally/Twine have left on their deals?

Looks a good deal to me.
Boro are one of the favourites for the division like us and I think Carrick is a good manager so if they are bidding for Conway it bodes well for me.

Twine and McNally are both half way into through their contracts i’m assuming so if they are not going to be involved this season it is a good time to sell them this summer.

As for preferring to sell Churlinov and Bastien I think everyone would prefer that but neither have proven they are good enough for the championship whereas Twine and McNally have at other championship clubs. With the wages that Churlinov and Bastien are on we will be lucky to offload them on loan and get someone to pay at least part of their wages. That’s the best scenario I think we can realistically hope for both of them.

Goals get you promotion and the reality is Conway is another player we can add to a decent list in our squad that we can expect to bag us 7-10 goals. I like Twine but not convinced he’d be trusted often enough to get to that sort of return. McNally would literally never play either.

Both have been depreciating assets and will continue to be so-so makes sense, despite a small loss at present, as the loss will only worsen if we delay

It’s amazing how many Bristol city fans have suddenly turned to say Conway isn’t all that and they would be getting the better deal, this time 12 months ago they where saying Conway would go to wolves or West Ham for 15m

Got to agree.

Its a great deal for all parties. including the players.

Big lad, good on the floor and in the air and full of potential.

Perfect fit, especially with our quality wingers.

Hopefully our new Ashley Barnes.

A net deduction on the squad list and also not sure we would achieve the equivalent in terms of transfer fees for Twine and Mcnally.

Get it done

Scored a hattrick in pre-season apparently (forget who against) so I wouldn’t rule out him getting goals. I also love a dead ball taker, can be so vital in tight games. Can understand him wanting to be a starter every week though.

It'd be great if he turned out to be a new Ashley Barnes. I'd settle for a new Billy Hamilton.

At the time the fee for Twine was rumoured to be 4m, McNally 2m but of course they were both undisclosed. They were both League One players and they've both played just under 60 times in the Championship since without seemingly increasing their resale value. With out scatter gun approach under VK it might make sense to accept a deal like this in order to take a chance on another young prospect who's proven he's competent at this level.

I can see Scott Parker being more keen on a striker who can score a variety of goals including some decent headers in place of a lightweight set piece specialist who scored 6 goals in 30 odd Championship appearances last season.

Depreciating assets?

Both joined with zero championship experience. McNally had a solid year with Coventry and less so with Stoke but now has decent championship experience and is still a very good age, size, build etc.

Twine scored some vital goals for us and injuries aside has gained more championship experience to the point there is championship interest in signing him.

Both arguably should have increased in value surely?

Swap deals are always complicated to complete, even with a single player going each way. I can see this being problematic to pull off.

That's great news about Amdouni. He has an awful lot to prove at this club after last season but he should be an absolutely standout player in this league. If he is staying at Burnley it's even more reason to be content to let Twine leave.

Conway stuff is madness. We have forwards galore. We need rid of about four of them at least and we'll still be overstocked.

Imagine we’ll agree a low fee for both that ensures our profit clause doesn’t trigger with MK/Oxford, then a seperate fee for Conway that matches the other two fees. So three separate transfers.

Can’t see that would be beyond Matt Williams’ talents

Not sure about Conway and whether this is a good deal for us though. Stats aren’t the best but as someone posted above, not are Delap’s and he’s only 21.

Do we have to balance the books like stated in the mission to Burnley segment where we sell young players for profit ? We can’t surely just hope to sell muric and possibly Trafford and make around 30 million ? I think when we went down last time we recouped about 50-70 million didn’t we?

I’d expect Oderbert ,Trafford and possibly Berge to be most likely to be sold but I hope not.

If we end up selling Trafford, weghorst, churlinov, Tresor and obafemi along with muric then that will be close to 50m in sales and then when all the cbs are fit you’d expect at least one maybe two to leave

You’re forgetting the 11m for Kompany.

But also depends if we find actual buyers for those mentioned right? Tresor is suggested to be a loan. Then it’s a case of will a Champ club buy Obafemi, do they have the cash?

You would like to think both would see an increase in their value by playing in the Championship, however the clubs in the second half of that Division don't throw money around. McNally had commendable loans at Coventry (half a season), and I suspect on the back of this a full one at Stoke. To my knowledge neither have shown interest in buying him. I would not have thought a fee in the region of £2m is out of the reach of both clubs. In the case of Twine, two loans last year and I think what is going in his favour is that Manning Bristol's manager had him as a player in League 1 and likes him. But I dont see a queue of clubs for him.As the old saying goes, players are only worth what a club is willing to pay

£40 million please. I love how they say, "Berge, 26, is open to a transfer following the Clarets’ relegation" - bet it's complete guess work and they don't have a clue whether he's open to leaving.

Think I’ve accepted we’ll lose Berge. He had a good season and has done the Championship already. Just hope we hold out for a fee above £20m if not £25m. Hopefully we can keep the likes of Amdouni / Odobert.

Think I’ve accepted we’ll lose Berge. He had a good season and has done the Championship already. Just hope we hold out for a fee above £20m if not £25m. Hopefully we can keep the likes of Amdouni / Odobert.
I haven't accepted it at all.
He is so important to us, we don't have anyone else like him

Yep, I think he's worth a lot more than £25m to us this season. Keep our best players, go up, and if players still want to go then get a better price for them. Otherwise, we stay down and miss out on £200+ million.

Yet we won the league with 101 points without him. If Parker plays his 4-2-3-1 then you can’t fit everyone in. We’ve got Brownhill, Cullen, Massengo, JBG, Amdouni & Ramsey (when fit) who seem like a good bunch for this level. Of course I’d like him to stay but I think it’s unrealistic at this point.

one of the biggest (excuse the pun) things about Berge is is height, key for defensive set pieces. Out of everyone, he would be the one I'll be sad to see go but I do expect him to go. I can only hope we name the price and don't budge from it

Berge linked to man united today
Having read the article, its one of the vaguest links. Just like numerous rumour stories that appear daily for all clubs

Rovers seem to be actually signing a few players.

Yep although the quality is definitely lacking. Danny Batth would probably be about our 6th choice CB if we signed him

Cracking signings too….if the year was 2014!

Weimann next apparently. Another 33 yr old has been.

First time I’ve seen us linked to Rak-Sakyi.

Very highly rated!

You would assume this would have to be very decent money to happen……

Esteve seems pretty happy here but obv his agent is putting his name out there with Romano mentioning him a few times now. Would be a real shame to lose him but Wolves are in the market for a cb after losing Kilman, in particular a left footed one.
