I was referring more to the recent speculation r.e Conway. Maybe it’s an imminent thing.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 7:12 pmI think most are probably aware they were never going to feature this season

My God this thread has it all.
7 degrees difference.
It's a friendly in abnormal temps vs WC Final.
We've had three variants of one player's surname: Wilson Odobert.

At least the Cadiz tackling is getting us used to the treatment our players will get in the Championship.

Enjoyed that - great to just watch a match again. I imagine it was a really good fitness exercise and we’ve seemingly come through unscathed. Great confidence boost for Lyle too.

Decent enough performance on a poor pitch in high temperatures. Could have been a lot worse. Looking forward to the season now.
Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Pires looks a good footballer, but I would be mindful who we play in front of him.
Roberts is bobbins.
Surprised how many balls the CB’s lost in the air.
It’s a nothing but a fitness game.

Must admit I was a bit disappointed with the first half.
But we were a hell of a lot better in the second half showed some real signs of promise for this season.

My attention was split between watching our game and the olympics, but we seemed to show much more in that second half.
It's been great watching some of the world's best athletes on one screen and some runners on the other.

Esteve wasn’t great first half
Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Decent second half that. Controlled the game improved in the areas we needed to at half time and had some opportunities, to score again.
Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Those saying it was a good fitness run out, will recall that in one week's time, 3 points are at stake. A little late for just a fitness run out.
The good news is that we showed more composure, 2nd half. 442 for the Championship.

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Enjoyed that. Pires looked decent, Koleosho lively and Odobert good in pockets. Great finish by Lyle who also looked fit. All without Berge, JBG & Zeki.

Only caught the last 30 mins or so but thought we looked OK.
It's a friendly. If anyone has played football, you know it doesn't really mean much other than fitness and getting to know each other's styles.
I thought the new striker had something.

Great workout. Just back from Spain yesterday and it’s bloody hot so fair play to them. I was knackered after walking half a mile for some breakfast pastries every morning! UTC.

Pires looks like a left fullback, whilst Vitihno doesn't. Overall not a bad runout, still not great watching us tapping it around at the back, we're not good enough for that.

I dunno, I thought there were a lot of positives to take from that.
I liked that we have definitely tweaked our system (not afraid to go long when required).
I really liked a few of the subs performances also.

Do we know if Trafford got any game time at all during pre-season? From what I can gather it looks like Hladky plays most minutes which would probably indicate he's number one in the goalie pecking order.

I managed to watch the first half on the train, but the buffering meant I missed the second.

Thought the kit looked good 'in the flesh' so to speak.
White shorts make all the difference and I thought the blue socks complimented the trim on the shorts/shirt. Decent.

After watching that I played Ian Dury and the Blockheads "Reasons To Be Cheerful" . After an indifferent start we really grew into the game. Hope Scotty learned a lot from both the camp and this fixture. Some really good individual performances in trying circumstances. I think also we learned a lot of who may now be surplus to requirements and am expecting a few departures in the next few weeks

Seems Cadiz are the Spanish Luton same alehouse brawler style.
