Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
If we are to sell Berge and o’Shea, then hopefully it’s not until later in the window.
It’s all one big game of brinksmanship, and we rightly should stand firm knowing clubs will get increasingly desperate towards deadline day.

It's hard to know what to believe in the press atm.
I do wonder if our players are being used by agents to get clubs to sell their players, especially in the Berge situation. Can't be good for him.

Current players linked with exits;
Trafford
O'Shea
Esteve
Berge
Tresor
Churlinov
Twine
McNally
Odobert
(probably others that I've forgotten).
Current players linked to come in;
Greene
Conway
How many of those are true? I have no idea.

My strong preference would be that we look to move on Weghorst, Tresor, Delcroix, Bastien, Churlinov, McNally and maybe Twine before considering selling any of our better players.
See how much we get for them first before making any decisions on the better players.

People writing off JRod & JBG are forgetting what influence they can have around the club and training ground.
In Mission To Burnley 1 VK said he had to change his opinion of Ash Barnes after seeing how good he was around the place and SD regularly bought players for their experience.
It’s not all about what they can do on match day.

How could I forget the infamous Weghorst. I can't believe we still haven't dumped him off yet.NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 10:09 amYou forgot Weghorst.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Why fingers crossed? It is clear we need to sell him and other assets to balance the books.
If we don't sell him to United, then we will have to sell him for a lot less to someone else.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Not sure if it has been mentioned, but I read an article stating Sheff Utd have a sell on clause for Berge - didn't disclose how much but maybe another reason we seem to be holding out for big money.

Wout has done nothing wrong to stop him being paid.

We might have to give the likes of Bastien, Churlinov and Obafemi a free transfer just to get them out the door and off the wage bill. Don't see anybody paying money for them.NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 10:09 amYou forgot Weghorst.

Seems Bastien is going out on loan. I expect a few others will find a club for the season although it might be at the end of the window when clubs need to plug gaps by bringing in players on loan.

I very much doubt we’ll do that. It’ll be loans with loan fees If no offers come in.

There will be a long list of Championship clubs very keen to take Twine, McNally and Obafemi on loan. I’m less sure about Churlinov & Bastien.claretskeith wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 10:56 amSeems Bastien is going out on loan. Hopefully to clubs that can cover their full wage as well. Lets say for arguments sake Tresor is on 40 grand a week, don't see the sort of clubs who might be interested in him covering that. Its all a bit of a mess thanks to a certain ex manager.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Doubt he’s on that after a ~50% wage cut post relegation.

You're not the only one thinking this.
There really is no need to panic. You're talking about international players with age on their side. They have plenty of value! Millions! We'll be fine.
Also, we're protected by parachute payments. It's not a stare of desperation. Our large squad will be trimmed. 3 weeks is a long time to do it.
Enjoy our interactions in the transfer market which were few and far between for years. Enjoy the ride from your armchair / deckchair etc.

Luke Cundle really impressed me last season (especially when he was at Stoke). Saw him play 3 or 4 times and technically he is very very good.
He was at Burnley in the academy during the 'Blake' years - we released him at 14.

I'm sure those in charge, and sign the cheques, could have said no at any point if they didn't agree with the recruitment

Green could be coming as number 2 or 3 depending on Trafford being here.
Not played too many games in his career but is still young in goalkeeper terms

We know from Matt Williams’ interview that he said no on a number of occasions.
I don’t think this summers signings have been all Parker’s and by the same token I don’t think last seasons were all Kompany’s either. The club hierarchy are playing a bigger role in transfer strategy than fans seem to think, in my view.

Seems there's a presumption that if Trafford stays he'll be an automatic 1st pick.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 12:12 pmGreen could be coming as number 2 or 3 depending on Trafford being here.
Parker will be his own man I'd guess. Can't see him being bound by all the nonsense surrounding JT....don't be surprised if the Ipswich lad starts with Trafford on the bench.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
The majority of our fringe players I think will go in the final few days if not on the final day of the transfer window, it just seems to be the way for many teams outside the prem. They will be working through their transfer lists, seeing what they need after the opening games, seeing what’s available and probably holding out on paying wages for a week or two. Especially when it comes to loan signings.
I’d also imagine because of the home grown quota and potential outgoings compared to any potential incomings, the likes of McNally and Twine (maybe Egen Riley too) will be held on to by us until later in the window when things are much clearer on what our squad looks like.

O'Shea declines Ipswich....as he wants Brentford.
Another of the best ones being sold off.
Keepers, Centre backs, Midfield all the best sold.
Left with a mishmash.

I don't think they are Parker's and I didn't think they were Dyche's during the time he worked for these owners, but I believe Kompany virtually had Pace wrapped round his little finger and was making those decisions.NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 12:15 pmWe know from Matt Williams’ interview that he said no on a number of occasions.

we paid £7m for him, we are not selling him for £7m. you've misread and pieced together stories.
Wont go for less than £12m i'd imagine
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Beyer, Ekdal, Al Dakhil are all decent at this level and Esteve should be good also, so I’m not too worried about O’Shea leaving.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Injury concerns over all of Beyer, Ekdal and Al Dakhil though. Think we would be daft to sell O'Shea or Esteve - both definite starters for me. If O'Shea leaves then I think we need a replacement (plus shipping one of the aforementioned out).

If reports are true we want 30 million for Berge than at least we are showing a bit more resilience and not giving players away for cheap.

My presumption was Hladky as number 1, with Trafford as 2 if he stays and Green as 3, of Trafford goes then Green is bumped up the pecking order and one of our young lads as number 3fatboy47 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 12:18 pmSeems there's a presumption that if Trafford stays he'll be an automatic 1st pick.
