If not - then obviously Bournemouth have a lot more money than they generate to spend (transfers & wages combined).
Bournemouth have recorded profits (without money from their owner) each season in the premier league. You're probably right that they're expecting someone to move on and fund this transfer. Probably somewhat similar to us buying Gibson for £15m with the expectation that Tarkowski will eventually go for much more than that

I sometimes get very frustrated at Burnleys transfer policy.

I then see Bournemouth spending 18m on a kid with 1 league goal to his name and realise we are doing something right.

Ludicrous fee. At least Abraham has a goalscoring record to go with his fee. This has Ashley Fletcher all over it.

I always get a happy little glow inside when I hear about other clubs paying astronomical amounts for players that haven't shown enough to merit anything like their transfer fee.

Bournemouth also signed defoe to a 3 year contract... when he was 34 years old, who they are shopping around. Solanke seems odd for them unless they expect wilson gone. Clyne is a good loan....

Bournemouth are to Liverpool what Middlesbrough used to be to Man Utd.

FFP is a joke Bournemouth get under 12000 because thats all the Vitality holds.
Both these signings are poor buys.Liverpool are very good at disguarding flops. They always get serious money for their castoffs.Clyne injury record is horrendous. He had a few decent games and has built a reputation on these games.Solanke is a poor buy. no output no goal striker.

Clyne starts against Brighton today, but no Solanke. Neither of these signings would thrill me as a Claret,Clyne's a low-risk loan until the end of the season, but 19 million for Solanke is madness, his record justifies nothing like this figure.

Clynes a decent signing and one I would have been happy with. Last season aside he has been a regular and consistent.

Warnock's not happy with the Scousers https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46771871 i wasn't aware of Cardiff's pursuit of Clyne, all the better for us if they can't get deals over the line.

And people still criticise the Nakhi Wells signing for a quarter of Solanke's fee.

Time will tell but i see Solanke becoming another Ibe type signing by flattering to deceive.

Plus the millions wasted in wages on Defoe, shows all clubs make bad investments sometimes.

Clyne found out by listening to talk sport on Thursday morning that Warnocks wife has control over team selection so opted for Bournemouth instead.

I couldn’t believe how bad Clyne was yesterday. Playing well for England when he got his big move to Liverpool.
As CFC says higher up, the first name that came to mind thinking on Solanke was Ashley Fletcher. Another age group star, via his size, but not ready for the big boys league.

I know what you mean, but the downside is that the more clubs pay inflated fees for average or unproven talent, then the more everyone else has to pay for players as the market simply spirals upwards.

Crikey £19m for Solanke. Surely there are better players out there who'd cost much less than that?

Bournemouth seem to be a little like us, albeit with much more money, in that they seem to rely heavily on the British market, and they pay well over the odds as a result. Ake for £18m and Ibe for £15m spring to mind.
Jesus you’ve had a stinker here, Ake at £18m way over the odds?

Solanke now on his way to Spurs for £65m, bargain at less than £20m in the end.

I've just been unlucky I suppose that you've dedicated so much time to finding them.

To show how crazy the fee is for Solanke, Barcelona have signed Olmo for a smaller fee who is light years ahead in terms of ability:

Release clause value in his contract. It officially expired a few weeks ago but club agreed to honour it under gentleman’s agreement. He’s obviously a better player but ‘light years’ ahead is a bit strong.

Imagine having nothing else to do in your life but rake up posts about players from 5 years ago, that have no relevance to Burnley, just to fill your life.

That much sh1t gets spouted can you really blame people that said I wouldn't go to them lengths. It's no different to me a few seasons ago DA unearthing my earlier predictions which have eerily proved themselves to be true we are effectively back to square 1. You can only ride a crest of a wave for so long before the tide brings you back in.

When you know you are right or almost certain you are it tends to stick. It won't be a popular opinion this but that many people on this forum so are out of the depth where footballing knowledge is concerned my only surprise is more stuff hasn't been dredged up.

Mate, we're all just fans who pass comments on footy because it's a hobby. There is no depth to it.

If people like you and KRBFC spent less time on the internet worrying about being "right or almost certain you are" I think you'd see the benefit.

I sense his frustration when people consistently talk b*llocks I don't usually say anything or get involved it's easier to let it pass by or ignore which I'm doing now. Good evening. The benefit for me is peace.

In a good frame of mind and looking forward to the new season with some optimism I seriously considered (earlier today) removing all my''foes' on Up the Clarets as some kind of meaningless goodwill gesture.

Having spent half an hour on the forum tonight my foes from the last year or so will remain firmly in place.

Here's hoping that we can cheer everyone with a win at Luton on Monday! UTC
