If he stays and he's genuinely committed I believe he could be a very useful asset and offer something different up front when required. The problem is Foster is always going to get the gig ahead of him, providing he's fit, so waiting his chances on the bench isn't, I don't feel, going to suit Wout for long, or his ego.

Since we are still paying him and he hasn't, as yet, found himself another club it would surely be reasonable to play him. I still have my doubts about his effectiveness but maybe coming off the bench lster in a game puts the opposition on the back foot for a while. We had Hountondji and Jay on the bench as well as Weghorst. Parker chose to bring Weghorst in ahead of the pair of them…why would he do that if a move was imminent and he wasn’t planning on keeping him around? His first game time since the Euros to get him some match fitness. At 4-1 the natural change to rest Foster would have been Hountondji to give him his first taste of English football in a less pressurised phase of a game.

Perhaps Wout is staying .

If Parker can show he’s part of the squad then that helps our negotiating position rather than a player who isn’t involved and not getting any game time.

I still think he’ll be gone by the end of the window. Probably to Turkey and probably on subsidised wages until the end of his deal.

Playing one striker as many teams do really does limit the chances for some of these players, especially in a position like ours where we have lots of Premier League capable players who may only want to be in the Championship if they start.

I think he'll go because we will likely want to cash in and he's one of those expendable players.

But good plan to put him in the side - teams looking at him will now think that we have plans for him and will be questioning whether they'll actually get the bargain they presumably want.

Weghorst re- integrated into the squad would be a major development for this season . Personally I would be happy if it happened and maybe a bit disappointed if it didn't happen now that Parker chose to put him on before Rodrigues

He has been on about needing a long term home for his large family, the key is if he wants that to be Manchester. And what his wage is compared to elsewhere. I suppose the other key is if he chooses to see out his contract if there are few offers, and get a final payday on a free.

Every chance Weghorst is thinking a season winning most weeks and sat on a (presumably) decent salary with us wouldn't be such a bad thing considering he will be on a free transfer in a years time and be maybe quite desirable to clubs that are currently unwilling to pay a fee (Ajax etc).

I think bringing him on ahead of Jay and Houtondji was quite telling personally, says to me that as it stands he is staying and both parties are happy with that (unless we get an Ajax/PSV coming in on deadline day etc).
