To be honest, I am not even sure if Redmond's favoured position is right-wing!... We have seen him more on the left in the small amount of times he's played for us and every time I saw him play for Southampton back in the day, he played more as a 10... He certainly seemed to play just behind the forward/s for Southampton in a free role in the many times he ripped us apart anyway! We have have 2 wingers who’s favoured position is right wing, benson and Redmond. Redmond is injured and bensons injury record isn’t great. I’m just saying I can see why we might be in for a right winger

If we sign more wingers without addressing other areas of the squad then we've learnt the square root of feck all.

I'd seen it reported there was no fee for Green but there was a large sell on (around the 50% mark IIRC).

Twine being on the bench last night was really down to being home grown more than anything. McNally being on the bench was due to our current injuries at centre half.
However, I think it was also more than a ‘nod’ towards Bristol City to say these lads are ours and they’re involved - put up or shut up.

Berge to United looks like it’s hinging on Ugarte to United. Romano has just tweeted saying that if an agreement can’t be reached with PSG, they will move to cheaper target.

Still no mention of what the potential fee might be, only that we're expected to make a profit. I should hope so!!

Assuming there isn't a relegation clause fee in the contract, and I can't imagine there would be given we picked him up from the Championship to start with, what fee would you be happy with realistically? £12m?
If we were still in the prem I'd be wanting £20m+ but we're not

This is the problem with having the window close after the season starts - you get the performance the builds up hope and then players get snapped up
Would be disappointing to lose him.
He did start last season shakey but he was one of the top performers especially after Christmas

Jacob Greaves went to Ipswich for a reported £18m (£15m+£3m add ons) we should be looking to at least match that.

I'd hope for something similar to what we sold Collins for. But how much did we sign O'Shea for, £8m? Selling him for double what we paid for him 12 months ago wouldn't be bad business.

Better business is promotion and the £200+ million. We need to be very careful not to sell all of our best players.ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 3:04 pmI'd hope for something similar to what we sold Collins for. Has Pace managed to keep a single player that we would ordinarily like to keep who has been linked with a move away? The weight on the clubs neck from his loans means he will always be tempted by offers. Shocking though when he has surely seen the impact O’Shea has on the side literally last night. The player certainly doesn’t seem to be pushing for it on that evidence.

It’d be disappointing to lose O’Shea now, but if there’s one area of the pitch we’re well stocked it’s at centre half.
Beyer, Al-Dakhil and Ekdal are all terrific options to have.

As others have said, at this point, the money we’ll get from going back up and then save by already having a genuine PL centre half pairing will dwarf the fee Brentford will pay us now.
This is a real test of our ambition.

The last board did exactly the same, it will be the player that wants the move, he would likely double or even treble his money, harsh to put that on Pacejedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 3:11 pmHas Pace managed to keep a single player that we would ordinarily like to keep who has been linked with a move away? The club has been pretty clear about wanting to sell players for profit. People won't enjoy it but most of the time that will mean selling our best players. It's also beneficial to our reputation with players we will want to sign in the future if they can see players from Burnley can earn big money moves if we fall out of the PL.

Tbf before the documentary and last nights game if someone said Brentford would pay 15m for O’Shea, a good number of fans would of sold for that
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I’d imagine Parker will go for Nat Phillips as a direct replacement. Like for like and homegrown quota. While the link with Bashir Humpreys would be a replacement for McNally on the bench and also homegrown.

Every player in the Championship wants to play in the Prem. If we were in the Prem and wanted a championship centre half do you think he would want to join us ?
It is only a few months since there was post after post on here telling us how crap O'Shea is

Flipping O’Shea for double what we paid is what we’re all about. It’s our raison d’etre.
It wouldn’t be a lack of ambition to sell O’Shea, however much of a loss he would be, because we have a conveyor belt set up to replace him.

Would generally agree and it might look a lot more palatable if we didn’t have long term injuries to the three players who’d be in the frame to replace I suppose.

Be disappointing to lose Dara. Even though we are well stocked at CB, I wouldn’t call any of them leaders.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I’m not sure on that conveyor belt to replace him.
He’s one of our few genuine leaders, he’s a PL quality defender so would save us money if we do go back up, and he’s good for several goals a season. He’s one of three players we must keep or we seriously weaken ourselves for going back up.
