Agree about the professionalism. Not than it’s anything less than I’d expect from any of the players. They’re professionals and good characters.Commy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 2:45 pmSky Sports now saying that Brentford haven't met our valuation of O'Shea. From what I saw on Mission to Burnley 2 with standing our ground with money for Kompany, I think we are going to do that with the players as well. About time we dug our heels in. It also looks like the players (Wout, Berge, Odobert and O'Shea) are, at the minute, being very professional about it.
O’Shea have a great post-match interview where it seemed he was fully focussed on the season and upcoming games.
Odobert has been posting club content all over Instagram.
Weghorst was encouraging Parker to do the celebrations for the fans and Parker has praised his professionalism.
Berge we’ve not heard so much from. Not sure if that’s because he uses social media least or the injury, but certainly no noises of angling for moves.
Overall I think the “player wants out” fear is overplayed by fans and as long as the club treat them properly they’re good.

That would be daft of us to sell to a rival.

you saw what winning the Championship meant to Cork and Brownhill, hopefully O'Shea will put winning something over playing for Brentford.

Would we sell Benson to a rival?

I'd sell Benson, even though I love the bloke.
He's not going to play much this season, and isn't a 90 minute player, I'm just not sure we'd get what we value him at.

No way would I sell Benny to a rival, or at all for that matter. I'd start him against Cardiff and rest Koleosho after his cramp, for one. Our strength is our squad - whilst it is too big, there are clearly players we would look to either get rid of from not being good enough, or sell due to the funds they'd bring in before our match winners.

He’s be a nightmare for teams after already facing up to Koleosho , Odobert and/or Zaroury for 60 mins a game . I think he knows that that’s his best phase of a game too, however will be keen to show his capabilities for longer periods . I suspect a rotation of wingers against different opponents , really hope he staysBurnley1989 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 3:49 pmI'd sell Benson, even though I love the bloke.

Spot on ! Start him Saturday. Let him tear them to pieces and then see if you would sell an incredible player to our biggest rivals this season.jedi_master wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 3:50 pmNo way would I sell Benny to a rival, or at all for that matter. Koleosho played on the left, surely you wouldn’t play Benson there, given he’s barely played there in his career and for us? Benson’s best trait is cutting inside onto his left foot, which you can’t do from the left wing.jedi_master wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 3:50 pmNo way would I sell Benny to a rival, or at all for that matter. I think after Mondays result, it would be madness to sell O'Shea especially with the injuries to our CB's and lack of cover. Really hoping it is just media talk and we manage to hold on to him.

We've got history of this. In the 1972-73 season we sold Dave Thomas to QPR. QPR and Burnley were easily the top two that season.

Great news. If shifting the likes of him means we can keep the ones who will actually contribute something this season then I’m all for it.agreenwood wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 2:01 pmSwiss media outlet Blik reporting that we’re trying to shift out Amdouni.
Little bit speculative, but here you go..

No idea what Kompany saw in him, but it’s certainly nothing the likes of Odobert, Benson and Zaroury aren’t capable of.

Benson is only a 20 minutes player. He doesn't play well when he starts games. He's a luxury I wouldn't be too sad to lose.

This is true, but if you want a player to change a game I do t think they come much better than Benson.
Sometimes in a game you need that option on the bench that will change the dynamic.
If you said to me we were 1-0 down, 20-30 minutes to go, we had Koleosho, Odobert, Amdouni, Weghorst, Benson on the bench and one sub left, I’d be bringing Benson on.

That Benson 1st half Sheff Utd performance was the individual performance of the season for me even though we lost. It's not often you see a full back get destroyed to that extent time and time again.jedi_master wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 4:50 pmGreat sub yes, but he can do it from the start if given the chance (Bramall Lane for example).
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I agree that he is a perfect super sub. But if it was a choice of losing Benny vs O'Shea or Berge, then i'll pack his bags for him.

Benson is one I’d be happy to let go providing we kept hold of O’Shea, Estève, and Odobert.

Benny deserves to stay his goals in the Championship are the stuff of legends the one at Deadwood.VK bullied and blanked key players and this was inexcusable.

If Leeds want him it’s to rotate him with James/Gnonto like they did last season as neither of them will be fit for the entire season.

Benson still has a few years to run on his contract which will help in any transfer negations, but he turns 28 this season and the club will probably have that in their thinking in terms of extracting the maximum fee.

Would sell Amdouni. Just not convinced he is a great fit for the English game. Would be gutted to see Benny leave and probably only to a team on the continent.

Benson has the ability to create moments of magic in this league, at a relatively small fee we paid for him I would keep him around and loan out amdoumi if we have to, as much as I would like Amdouni to stay

Benson is pure magic at this level, don't let the memory of VK discarding him cloud that.

I’m in the sell Benson camp. He’s a 20 mins player. A luxury player. And we know he can’t cut it if we get promoted. And the new manager dident think he was worth his place on Monday night

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I'd be loathe to sell Benson to a potential direct rival such as Leeds undoubtedly are, but I think there's a strong case for selling Benson if we have a suitable replacement lined up. He's turning 28, and he didn't start much for us 2 years ago and frankly, if there's a chance we retain Odobert, it's hard to argue that he's going to get even the game time he got 2 years ago.
It's hard because he scores worldies - or did 2 years ago, but I wonder how much that will still be the case this season. Teams will have had far more time to analyse and prepare for how to stop him.

Newcastle hadn’t worked that out and were unable to stop him the other weekclaretspice wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 8:25 pmI'd be loathe to sell Benson to a potential direct rival such as Leeds undoubtedly are, but I think there's a strong case for selling Benson if we have a suitable replacement lined up. As much as I love Benson, and be a shame to see him go, I don’t think we need a replacement. We’ve more than enough wingers and we need to trim the squadclaretspice wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 8:25 pmI'd be loathe to sell Benson to a potential direct rival such as Leeds undoubtedly are, but I think there's a strong case for selling Benson if we have a suitable replacement lined up. Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I think that's a fair comment. Personally, Ihink there's an argument we could use an extra option off the right wing in the Tella mould because most of our wingers prefer the left, and the problem with Benny is that if you accept he's not a starter (as VK seemed to), that exacerbates the imbalance - and so I'd not be averse to us swapping Bene for a more realistic starting option on the right, but it's certainly not an essential.
