If you are owed money by BFC, why should you wait a year ? Some of these people could put us into administration, I think we have to sell first and foremost to get the squad to the permitted level, but also to get creditors back on board to show wr are a responsible business that pays our dues, you don't know when you'll need them again. We've enough of talent to go up with or without Berge.
What do you mean ?
You think we won’t be able to meet our contractual payment commitments ? Which creditors you think could put us into administration ?
Paying what we are due to pay in the next 12 months will not be an issue and it will not be the reason we sell players either. The reason we will sell players is the same reason we (and many other clubs who get relegated) sell their players. As we know on many occasions it’s because a player wants to leave (or has it in his contract that he can) which will be the reason we sell a player after relegation.

If we were in real danger of defaulting on paying our debts or bills that would be reasonable. But I believe that isn't the case at all. That is why we can stand up to those teams making lowball offers for our players. We WANT to offload some players to bring the squad size down but we aren't looking to hold a fire sale.

Can't remember who said it might have been Mooney but in thr documentary someone talked about having liquidity with this strategy of buying talented youth and I think it was a really good point. Even if we don't sell in this window and got into a sticky situation in Janusry, we can immediately offload a bunch of talented players for good transfer fees. There would be buyers all over Europe.
That is a huge advantage this strategy has over the old one where we had a really small aging squad so if we had to sell anyone it would have to be one of our most important players.

We have obligations that have to be met,we all agree that, I was questioning why a poster thinks we don't have to sell players until the end of yhecseason then.pay debts then, ginance isn't that simple.

Agree with this.
I don't want to see any of our stars leave. I want to win this league and clearly keeping them inproves the chances of that. However I believe we have a black hole to fill, I don't like it, but if we have to move a big player out for to continue liquidity then so be it, especially if the player wants to go. (Not saying any players want to leave) Should point out though this squad is absolutely full of quality for this league.

Watching 'highlights' of last season, amazing how often Berge and Bruun Larsen were our better players.
To not buy one and to sell the other is seriously bonkers.

Didn't we play an entire Championship winning campaign with just Dean Marney and Dave Jones?
Brownhill and Cullen's injury record are great and we've still got Massengo to come in.
If it's experience we need, bring back Cork as an experienced backup.
IF we sell Berge it's going to be a Cork-type signing or a cheap one from abroad.
We need to recoup some money. We've got loans to pay.
Times have somewhat changed though in terms of squad sizes and our squad has about 10 wingers for two positions, so going in to a Championship season (where we have one chance for an immediate return or a real financial armageddon) with 3 players for 2 roles would be a bit precarious to say the least.
I’m guessing we’ll have potential replacements lined up and know we have at least one CB lined up (not sure if that is linked to O’Shea leaving or other departures) but given we are so well stocked there I find it hard to think we won’t have equivalents for central midfield.

A bit gutted, but got to be pleased with the deal we got. And we've got so many attacking players with more than enough quality to excel in the championship. Amdouni may stay now I guess.

we still have 31 players over 21 on Jan1st 2024 and can only name 25-so we really have to loan out or sell 7 of the 31 to be able to sign anyone unless they were under 21 on NY day
