Seriously thoughburnley007 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 8:34 pmI feel quite underwhelmed about this, very much like I was when we signed Dara last summer.
Let's hope he's half as good as him.![]()
In January, I wasn't that bothered about Steeeve, but I was excited about Fofana.
Last summer I wasn't expecting owt from Koleosho, Odobert, O'shea etc.
There are a team of data analysts at the club, profiling 1000's of players all over the world, creating detailed shortlists.
I sometimes watch MOTD when I've had a few beers.
I'm just gonna leave it up to these guys.
Football fans are generally blinkered, opinionated fools, I am a perfect example!
Welcome to Burnley Joe

Wheres this Amdouni to Benfica rumour come from?
Edit; just seen the above link.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Amdouni obv going. He’s one of them that’ll think he’s better and after seeing Odobert/Berge get moves he’ll be pushing. Benfica ideal for him, dominate games, awful standard opposition so will look a world beater, good weather, low intensity. Hopefully we don’t cave into their weird loan deal. Fed up of players (and manager) thinking they’re above the club to be honest.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Don't see Worrall as a risk. He may not be the finished article, but I suspect he will bring qualities that we are missing. Think he is a natural leader and battler. We justify having kept players like Brownhill, Jayrod, Barnes, and Cullen for their experience and for being good guys within the team and dressing room, however I think Joe will bring more with him than these guys possess. He might be a younger version of that warrior Ben Mee

Surely this isn't legit? https://x.com/SteveParkinUK/status/1826575528226074763
Fulham signing Andros Townsend for £13.5m and over £100k per week. That's nuts for a 33 year old. Is it a parody account?

Yeah, I’d seen that, but hoping there’s not serious interest/we’re never not willing to loan and they’re not willing to buy.
Sense I get at the moment is that we’re either in far worse financial shape than we were led to believe (see earlier post re: Kompany’s comments) or our strategy is just to rid ourselves of as many Kompany hires as possible in one window.
I have nothing against the latter over time but the rush to do it (when we need to get up and many of them are very good players) seems fraught with risk. I’m all for Parker getting his chance to shape his own team but Pace is going to come unstuck with this constant player turnover.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I can't say j would be too upset if we sold Amdouni. He was fairly poor last season. I'll need to see more than a goal, albeit against a demoralised Cardiff, to suggest he'll be any better this season.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
He’d basically said post relegation that the position of needing to sell wasn’t like last time and harped on about how we weren’t a parachute team last time, implying that we would be this time.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
He said prior to leaving in one of his later press conferences words to the effect of “our financial situation this summer is different to our previous relegation, there is less pressure to sell and our sales would be more focussed around players that have outgrown the Championship”.
Which with £100m and counting (more than previous relegation) is looking like a load of rubbish… or our strategy has changed because he left.

That’s seven in and still ten days to go.
(Technically, you could add Estève and Trésor to the incoming list, too.)
There is plenty of speculation regarding possible incomings. It’s not as if nobody wants to come here.
The model seems to be working (so far).
It’s not yet time to panic or to write off our possible promotion prospects.

Once al-dakhil, O’Shea (reluctantly), McNally, JBG, weghorst, Obafemi all leave, we will have a squad of 23 if you take out the players who don’t need to be registered due to age. Space for a winger and midfielder.
If we are to sign Hannibal on a perm deal he wouldn’t need to be registered, but if it’s a loan he would have to be

Plays for Paris FC allegedly is very similar to Benson, but a bit cheaper. I haven't watched the customary youtube highlights.
Had been suggested that Leeds and poss Sheff U also interested.

Our attacking / flair players seem to be depleting at quite a rate - can we expect some exciting attacking incomings soon, LC?

If Weghorst is going too, we must be in for a couple of strikers?

Isn’t he out of contract next summer? Seems a bizarre one if we didn’t try to cash in this summer, if so?
Obviously have another striker lined up if Weghorst is leaving.
