Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Having read the whole article on the 442.ch website, it sounds as though Benfica think they could get Zeki on the cheap, but are miles short of our €18 million valuation.
In an interview a few weeks ago (in French with German subtitles) on the Blick.ch website, Amdouni said, when asked, “I’m under contract, so I’ll stay if I have to, but I have my ambitions and objectives.”
If nobody is going to meet our valuation in the next 8 days, then it would be great for SP to make full use of him - then put him in the market at a higher price in January (by which time Ramsey will, hopefully, be coming into contention for a place).

There was a scroll on SSN this morning that a Paris FC player had signed somewhere and was going back on a season long loan.
Apologies for being lightweight but I wasn’t interested at the time. It wasn’t us.

If the manager turns out to be a guy who will jump ship at a better offer, unsurprising many of his players have the same mentality. I hope, but do not expect, Amdouni isn’t one of them.
I know it’s the modern game, but I think Parker sees things slightly differently.

Celtic are in talks with Burnley over the sale of Mikey Johnston. The Championship side want to sign the winger, who is likely to depart this window having spent the second half of last season at West Brom, is also the subject of interest from Sheffield United.
Johnston could be used as a makeweight for Burnley to allow O’Shea to make the move to the Scottish Champions.
......or Wolves on the not so cheap.

Just saw the Jack Clarke to Ipswich move.
Great signing for them, but fascinating how he has gone for not much more than Muric did (£20m incl add ons, whereas Muric was in the £10m-£15m range with add ons if I recall). We seem to be getting top dollar.
Ipswich now have a chance, but this is the nightmare season with two other big clubs up with them and three newly promoted all dropping. I find it hard to imagine three teams finishing below them. Could easily be a Fulham, or a Wolves. Our departing players to clubs like these may regret it sooner rather than later.

I think Ipswich will just survive (if they keep McKenna for the season).CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 11:53 pmJust saw the Jack Clarke to Ipswich move.

I raise you Everton in to that group. They have flirted with the trap door for the last few years now. After an opening day thrashing at home, I think this could be their year.claretburns wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 11:57 pmI think Ipswich will just survive (if they keep McKenna for the season).

I guess it depends if you think McKenna is as good as Dyche was. That’s the only way they stay up.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
It's the same old theme every year the same things are said about Everton & people predicting them for the drop. Of course it can happen & 1 day it might but history should tell us that everton always find a way & always have enough left in the tank to see the job out. Season after season assisted by 3 other teams that don't have the same know how or guile.mybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 12:33 amI raise you Everton in to that group. The issue with Everton is that they will invariably win games against the lesser teams in the division whilst picking up one or two results against better teams.
It’s the Sean Dyche way.

It's been slowly falling apart at Goodison for a while and I think you're right about this season. They were thrashed last week, the fans are already unhappy with Dyche for his comments about fans walking off, Dyche is saying he only has 14 recognised first team players available, they're still open to offers for DCL. They're in a complete and utter mess. Relegation would be huge for them and I don't think they'd make an instant return.mybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 12:33 amI raise you Everton in to that group. Who else is likely leaving the building that hasn’t already in the next few days.
Just trying to catch up.
Al Dakhil.
Mc Nally
Benson
O Shea
Dodgson
JBG.
Some of these are as good as done aren’t they?
Week to go and we have cleared the decks dramatically. Some decent signings made and a couple or more to come in.
Then hopefully a settled squad to grab the Championship by the scruff of the neck.
If we get promotion, can we give it someone else? I nominate PNE.

With Jack Clarke leaving Sunderland, if i was selling Benny anywhere in the championship it would be to them after todays match squad deadline so we only had to face him and that wand of his left peg once.

Shrewd bit of business to net over a million quid for a player that left at the end of his contract a couple of months ago.

I'm not sure the PL will be able to help them this season. Their starting 11 is absolutely woeful. I really hope they drop, it'd be hilarious to watch the fall out.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 7:44 amDon't worry the Premier league won't let Everton get relegated to the Championship with a brand new multi multi million pound show stadium

Have a natter with a club legend on a flight, keep him for a couple of weeks, let him score a peach of a goal then make over a million by flogging him to the Middle East. It’s a doddle this footie lark
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
The €1.5m could refer to his wages for 18 months, rather than a transfer fee.

In the past we may not have been good at getting good money for players. But by god we are now. 1.5m for a 33 year old. That was already gone. Pace brought him back then got 1.5m. Wow.

Maybe it was part of the plan all along. Come back, train with the lads, put you in the shop window, won’t stand in your way if someone comes in for you. Bonus for the club is that JBG has been embraced by the club when the embarrassing training ground footage hits TV screens.

If the report on JBG is correct and we received 1.5M Euros then this must rank as a superb bit of business by Mr Pace.
Meets JBG on the plane back from Europe. Has a natter. Confirms that the nasty Mr Kompany has gone.
Persuades JBG to sign again for us. JBG scores a cracker against Cardiff but flies off to Saudi Arabia the next week.
Burnley trouser over a £1 million for their services.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I think that might be his salary, not the fee. Hard to know with the translation.
That particular club have never paid a fee for a player, so can’t see them paying €1.5m for JBG.
I reckon we’ve either done him a good turn or he had a contract clause allowing him to leave if better offers come in.
Big loss to us though so I’m hoping we did secure some money. Would be remarkable to sign him on a free and sell him for €1.5m a few weeks later.
Either way JBG has been an incredible signing and servant for us.
Really feel holding on to Amdouni is imperative now, having lost JBG & Twine.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Benson …. Delcroix ….Trafford … Amdouni …O Shea ….Dahill…and I’d say we are done with out goings.

Burnley would obviously need compensating for JBG. It deprives us of his services for a year. The €1.5m seems normal for Saudi (about €0.5m would be normal here in that situation). Very hard to believe that is his puny wages and we got nowt so I’m inclined to believe it is a transfer fee. Quite why it is in Euros is another matter, zero relevance to either party.

Is it still the consensus view that we're going go rake in some big bucks for Trafford ?
Or are people coming round to the view that we're going to have to take a biggish hit with this one?

Do you live in Saudi?
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Having had my fingers burnt with some of the lunatic fees offered for Berge and Odobert I don't think we will take a hit, not least because the 15m we were widely reported to have spent on him isn't the right number.
You would imagine relatively decent 'home grown' goalkeepers will be a holy grail for a lot of clubs as theyre perfect for filling up a match day place with very little fuss.
