Celtic are in talks with Burnley over the sale of Mikey Johnston. The Championship side want to sign the winger, who is likely to depart this window having spent the second half of last season at West Brom, is also the subject of interest from Sheffield United.

Johnston could be used as a makeweight for Burnley to allow O’Shea to make the move to the Scottish Champions.

If he is Dara's replacement, and if he is the leader to come, I hope some of the veterans around the place, Jay, Josh B, Jack C (back coaching we believe) and Dean Marney (also coaching) point out to him how big next Saturday lunch time is at Turf Moor.

Welcome Joe, really happy with this signing, was happy when we were linked with him under Dyche, since then he has clearly developed and grown in the game and I'm sure will do a great job for us. UTC.

Glad he has signed. As has been said above: a Dyche type signing.

And also, while I'm here: this signing reminds me of when Steve Cotterill signed Steven Caldwell.

I liked the signing until I read CT's article and saw the lad's history for starting with 2 - 0 defeats; Maybe best to give him a debut against Wolves rather than Sunderland?

Also, a very classy goodbye from Joe

Those two, added to the link I put up from the Forest site says a lot about them. And that piece from him hadn't been pre-filmed, it was done at Gawthorpe.

Dean Marney is now the youth team coach at Salford - he went there just before the end of last season

proof there is flexibility and pragmatism in the way we are thinking about our transfer business.

Strikes me as the right type we needed in this squad. We have a young, talented, international group and it’s lacking many experienced types with the voice and knowledge needed to pick people up when things inevitably turn this season at times. We had that with Barnes and Cork in the last promotion but you could only really look to Cullen (and possibly Brownhill) to fulfil a similar mandate this time around.

I hope O’Shea remains though as he is probably our best defender, I’m not sure Worrall is as good as him at this level. Whatever happens with O’Shea though, this is a solid addition for the squad and he looks like another defender we can actually rely on for fitness.

Looks like we've brought a really good character into the group and some much needed experience.

Delighted with this signing. It is wrong to call him Mee Mark 2, as he doesn’t have the City background, but he does have many similarities, ones we missed last season.

O’Shea I like. But what are his leadership qualities? Unknown. Yes DOS has drive, and is a good lad, but to be captain material you need to be able to bring everyone with you, maybe he does and maybe he does not, but Worrall does. Also, organisational abilities. We were too open last season. Some of that has to land on DOS.

I’m now happy if DOS goes, if that enables us to keep one other top player, an Esteve or an Amdouni. Very happy with the dealings so far, and by extension, happy with Parker.
Makes me think of Ben as well. Will never hesitate to put his body on the line.

Significant number of very favourable comments made by Forest fans on the YT video.

I am concerned that at all times of day and night, Mr CT has to be putting fully documented transfer details on here!

Worked to a frazzle.

It does look that way. When I read everything up about him I could see why Dyche had been interested in him. Just the sort of player we needed.

Very solid signing and if we can find the right balance between solid pros and up and coming, sellable talent then we could have a much better formula for the long term.
