I know Jay-Rod's 'one of our own', but I fear that your highlighting him as one of the players fit/capable of being included in the starting-eleven of a team hoping to finish as Champions, or at worst runners-up smacks of some tinted glasses wearing; did you perhaps intend to highlight his name in claret rather than blue?Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 9:36 amPRESENT SQUAD - STARTING XI NOW - CAPABLE OF STARTING XI WHEN FIT

None, but played a big part in both the second and third goals.

No source other than hearsay from a pal who is a palace fan and works for them. Brownhill to sign for them £7m plus add one

No way will we let Brownhill go for £7M

Don’t bite. There was a group who dedicated their lives to having a pop at Ashley Barnes week in week out, they’ve got to find someone.

I'll be well off target but get the feeling Trafford might have been seen as a possible departee but after the early rumours with Newcastle, it's all gone quiet (yes, that doesn't mean nothing's been happening). So, we've had to move other players on.
I thought Anass would stay TBH.
I'm a little worried about our wide options and we do need another central striker.
If that makes me a 'bedwetter' then that's okay with me.

Really hope this is not true but if there is some substance to it £7m could not be far off mark given his contract situation
He’s obviously worth a lot more than that to us so if we do take it this could be a good indication of where we are at financially

I’ve been happy enough with the transfer window so far but if that was to happen, that would be a real downer.

I expect him to start tomorrow but probably still 50:50 whether he ends up at Newcastle before the window closes.claretskeith wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 9:29 amIt wouldn't surprise me if Trafford starts tomorrow. I think we either need to sell or give him a full season.

We better not let him go, I had my pic taken with after the Cardiff game, first time I’ve ever managed to get a pic with a Burnley player .. besides I asked him and he wasn’t going anywhere

If you watch the second goal he actually attempted to pass to Brownhill
Brownhill then scuffed the ball and it ended up with Koleosho who scored
A legend maybe, but we should have a better starter this season
And we still need at least one if not two CM's to challenge for starts

Transfer makes no sense for us, other than get a fee while we can? Was it West Ham who wanted him last year?Guller Bull wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 12:10 pmI’ve been happy enough with the transfer window so far but if that was to happen, that would be a real downer.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I've been just about ok with the outgoings so far, but losing Brownhill would be a step too far. If there's any truth to this rumour, I would hope that Pace wouldn't even entertain bids for him... certainly not £7m. He will be an integral part of any success we have this season.TomtheClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 12:04 pmNo source other than hearsay from a pal who is a palace fan and works for them. Losing Brownhill and bringing in Hannibal could make financial sense. But it would still leave us short in the cm department.

I doubt if any PL side will come in for Josh if there is a fee of around £7m. When he becomes FREE in June, then maybe the likes of Everton, or one of the newly promoted clubs may then take him

Correct, but without his run down the right, skill to knock the ball past the onrushing defender and then calmness to get his head up, look for the incoming Brownhill, then the goal would not have happened.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 12:18 pmIf you watch the second goal he actually attempted to pass to Brownhill

I’d rather let Josh Brownhill leave for free next summer, than lose him for this season. I hope AP and SP feel the same.

Jay can do a job at this level. I was surprised that he started ahead of Amdouni and Weghorst on Saturday, but I thought he played OK.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 11:39 amI know Jay-Rod's 'one of our own', but I fear that your highlighting him as one of the players fit/capable of being included in the starting-eleven of a team hoping to finish as Champions, or at worst runners-up smacks of some tinted glasses wearing; did you perhaps intend to highlight his name in claret rather than blue?
Would I start him every game, no, but it wouldn't bother me if he played a regular part. What Jay offers most is his experience, he can make the right option, pick out the right pass, the right run.
The list was more to emphasise that we still have loads of options, and Jay is definitely an option.

Looks like Ipswich has met Burnley’s valuation of O Shea £15m
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
You think it would be wise to sell our captain, top scorer and one of the best midfielders in Championship for 7m? It would be more beneficial to let him stay and go for nothing next summer.claretskeith wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 12:42 pmSeems clear that the board will see any player if the price is right. £7m now or £0m in 12 months time?

Surely it is clear by now that the entire squad is up for sale - all good offers accepted?
If Pace gets an offer for Brownhill that he considers a good price and Brownhill is happy with the move - he'll go. Same for any other player.

There has to be a clause in O'Shea's contract at £15m if that's all it is. This will be the most disappointing sale for me if it goes through. Think we'll really miss him.

Nothing about what I think, I'm saying what the board will do. £7m when compared to promotion vs staying down, is tiny.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
But 7m is nowhere near good enough price, especially when you consider his value to the club and the fact that we have three CM available, one of them unproven.forzagranata wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 12:48 pmSurely it is clear by now that the entire squad is up for sale - all good offers accepted?

Totally agree with this, surely keeping Brownhill on the off chance we get promoted with him is a gamble worth taking if the reality that it's only 7 million if we sold him.

Doubt there's anything in Brownhill going. I can get on board with most of the departures but that would just be plain daft. We need his experience, his know-how (his goals!). We can't keep turning over the squad like we're currently doing and expect it to be successful long-term. There has to be a balance. I'm all for recruiting young players and selling them for profit but you need a few experienced heads like Brownhill alongside them.

Whats the record for successive relegations from the PL
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Selling your captain 3 weeks into a season for 7m when he is pivotal towards a 100m goal, not to mention a homegrown central midfielder, when our other starting midfielder has just left, would be the single most stupid thing I’ve ever seen by this club, so i won’t believe it.
Those saying but it’s 7m, I couldn’t care less, we are set to make one hundred and thirty million in sales without him or Trafford or anyone else.

I take it that there is at least one journalist on twitter with news of this rather than a single Palace fan who has sent a text.
If i send a text saying I have heard we are signing Grealish and Sterling on loan does it make it true ?
