Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
Really gutted by this. Watched him play for Iceland v England just before the Euros in a Cullen-type role and he was excellent so thought he would be good as midfield cover as well as as a wide player. A quality payer and known quantity who I thought would be a real asset this season. Scored a great goal on Saturday too. Very cheesed off that he's gone, especially after thinking we'd had a reprieve on that score.
Been a great servant and can only wish him well nevertheless.

Oh no, not Gud news.
Very sad to see you leave, but thank you JBG for your years of service. I wish you well.

Least he had a proper sendoff with a great goal in a 5-0 win.
Cheers Guddy, one of my favourite ever players. A tremendous footballer.

Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
This is one of the worst ones. Always been one of my favourites and after scoring a cracker last week I was looking forward to seeing him this season.
Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
Shouldn’t have been offered a new deal really, great business.

Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
Is there a fee involved?
Can't see one mentioned...(undisclosed?)
Actually think he'd have been excellent in the Championship.

A good deal for JBG. I guess a good deal for us, although we'll miss him a bit on the pitch. Very weird from the Saudi club.. why now?

Sad to see him go, again, but he deserves a season in the oasis.
Been a great servant to the club, despite injuries. I wish him nothing but the best.

BFC's facebook announcement said undisclosed fee, to the surprise of nobody!

He had to go as he's not a centre back.

You would imagine in the £1-2m range? Overinflated value, but pennies for the Saudis.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 2:29 pmIs there a fee involved?

Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
From having way too many wingers to very few. From my poor memory that leave us with Koleosho, Benson, Tresor (injured), Ramsey (injured), Redmond (injured) and Agyei… am I missing anyone else?
Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
Top player who’ll be missed but you can’t begrudge him a move like that.

Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
He'd have done a hell of a job for us, this year, & his experience priceless.
But guess he's looking for his last big payday.
Good luck & best wishes go with him.

Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
A great shame because we know he is a long term Claret.
I, too, say a big thank you JBG and best wishes in Saudi Arabia. You will be missed.

A great opportunity to sign a right footed right winger.
All the best to Johann, he’s been an excellent player for us.

This is strange considering we have just resigned him again recently. Can only think that he was offered a wage increase and longer contract plus whatever his transfer value was. Good luck to him.

A top prop and fella.
Someone who owes nobody anything after his brilliant service and deserves this sort of pay day towards the end of his career.

Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
Been a good player and would have been good in the Championship this season. Don’t really buy into all the emotion stuff though when re-signing and this is a money over football move. He’s probably already got sufficient to retire on and I doubt many will be following the club he’s going to . In fact I’ve never heard of them. I prefer it when players want to play at the highest level they can for as long as they can instead of just going for the money.

What the ***** he gone and do that for?!
Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
One of our best signings and re-signings albeit in the space of four months.
So who can we sign next to play on Saturday and flog before deadline day - for a profit of course?
Kerching!

Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
I think you know, deep down.

Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
Tbf if we get a fee for him ... then we have made a profit on a signature ... whereas if he had just flown out to Saudi we would have made nowt.
Good luck to JBG he deserves a payday ... cannot blame him in the slightest.

Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
It’s nothing like moving to a different company , from human rights violations to the murder of Jamal Khashoggi to links to 9/11 , plenty of others have taken blood money and I’m sure plenty will in the future ,it doesn’t make it right.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 6:44 pmAs opposed to which other profession in which you would turn down a lucrative move to another company towards the end of your career?
It’s not as though we won’t have got decent “compensation “ from his new employers.

Re: ARTICLE: JBG departs again
Some people are well within their rights to be annoyed with the manner of him turning up again & then leaving. The fees a handy bonus which makes the all sorry episode a little bit sweeter that's the only positive from it.

Forgetting the absolute garbage excuse for a football league over there, if I was a millionaire and I got offered even more money than I was currently earning to go out there and take my family with me, I wouldn’t be doing it.
