Exactly. And which of our outgoings were critical to the two fantastic results we’ve had so far?clarethomer wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 3:59 pmI think the reaction on here at times is priceless.
The squad depth needs reducing. Most sensible fans will see that the time to make judgement will be when the window closes.
We have had a brilliant start to the season so far, but with the reaction on here, you think we hadn't.

What I’m going to do is wait until the window shuts, see the squad value for each team of, say, the next game they play for first XI and bench. Then if we rank teams in that order it won’t be far off the finishing positions in May.
We are currently top 2 on that metric, the key is if we slip down by selling a few more and not replacing them. I doubt we will but it would be a huge error if so.

Of the players that have either departed (or rumoured to be departing by some posters on here) I would suggest that Odobert, Vitinho, JBG, O’Shea and Brownhill were all fairly influential in gaining those 2 victories. All five players made goal contributions for starters.
I have no idea whether the rumour about Brownhill has any substance to it.

Currently ourselves and Leeds are miles ahead but that could change, I hope not.
If we exclude players not currently fit our squad value goes down a fair bit, Beyer etc. That’s why I said I’d base it on the first squad and bench after the window. Those other players we have though may still play a part later.
I use Transfermarkt and accept that can be a bit iffy.

I’m not as worried as I would have been had Clarke been playing though.
Absolutely outrageous if he goes for less than Greaves who was £15m + £3.5m.

Madness if we sell Dara for £15m with some Liverpool reserve going for £22m
Also with Ipswich coming straight back down it's not a sensible move for him

£100 million should repay some of the club debt it didn’t have pre the new owners and keep them in huge incomes, houses and range rovers for a few years yet. Maybe they might stick around for a bit longer.

Gutted to lose DOS, I think he's a top player and will be missed if we get promoted.
To put it into perspective though, last time we won the league with Beyer, THB, AAD and Ekdal as CBs. This time round we will might have Beyer, Esteve, Worrall, Humphreys (Ekdal and Delcroix probably still there as well) - better options (if they all stay).

Getting to the point now that I'm not too bothered about DOS going. If the players that stunk the place out last season don't want to rectify it this season, then they can go. Same with Amdouni

Won’t be any other centre halves coming in unless Esteve goes, which won’t be happening unless someone tables mega money completely out of the blue.
Don’t think Worrall will be in the squad tomorrow so I expect Humphrys, McNally or Egan Riley will start alongside Esteve. Think we will see Worrall from Wednesday.

That's what I thought but the fact it's now plus add ons suggests not. How we are selling him for less than Greaves is absolutely astounding unless we also have a sell on on top of it all. It has been an extraordinary week in terms of players leaving with what sounds like O'Shea, McNally, Al-Dakhil, Benson, and Weghorst almost certain to leave and then Trafford and Amdouni sounding like they might go as well.
I never thought I'd be typing this, but we need to bring some players in.

Foster is the best striker in this league yes. Teams would be begging to have someone like jay rod sat on the bench.agreenwood wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 5:29 pmI think we’ve got the most talented defence and defensive depth in the division.
Have we got the best central midfield without Berge? How much depth do we have there?
Have we got the best wide men in the division? With Tresor absent/coming back from ill health, Agyei yet to kick a ball for us and coming back from a long term knee injury and Redmond out for the foreseeable future, how much depth do we have there?
Is Foster the best striker in the division? Is 35 yo Rodriguez and an as yet unproven Hountdonji sufficient depth?
I’d say the sales of the last 7 days have left some serious questions that didn’t exist last week.

I’m not sure how selling all your best players and replacing them with cheap cack works.
Also Foster the best striker in the league? Based on what? He was absolutely useless in his first 6 months upfront for the best side in the league by a mile.
