It’s over a decade since I lived over that way but Whelan’s chippy was always the best one in Lytham.

Seniors right on the square, eat out of eat in. Good portions and nicely cooked. Whelans not as good as they used to be (in my opinion) although they do allow you to eat in for no extra charge and dogs are welcome. If you go there, order your fish as you go in or they won't be too pleased. As an alternative the portk pies from the shop next to Whelans are excellent.

Not much in it between Whelans and Seniors, avoid Lytham Fish & Chips even if they have a sign outside saying Fish and Chips free

Not sure what the Lytham branch is like but seniors are good in bispham & Poulton.

Can only hope the other branches of Seniors are better, as the last time we had fish and chips from the Fulwood shop, it wasn't very good at all.

Best chippy we've been to in quite a while was Oliver's just down the road in Warton.

Last time I went in Whelans there was a customer giving the staff some grief saying “I come in here every week and none of you lot smile, nod hello, welcome anyone or look as though you give the time of day, I won’t be coming back”

They are a surly bunch, Polish I think.

It’s not as good as it used to be, Seniors or Seafarers.

Ah, just realised that you went yesterday!

Which did you choose and how was it?

When on Latham I usually go to seniors as last few times I have been to whelans it has been quite greasy and not as good as it used to be. There’s also a decent one just up the road in freckleton that’s called barnacle bills. Been a couple of times and was brilliant but not been for a year or two now

We went to Whelans and it was ok, a bit too greasy. Fish was quite small and thin too.

Lovely dog walk though.

You weren't one of the campers on the green were you? Locals had their pitchforks out
