How long left for ALK?
Preface this as being based on nothing but my own gut feelings and opinions.
I feel that ALK won’t be here much longer, especially when they realise it’s not as simple as buying and selling for profit. Last time in the EFL we had the impact of a world renowned name helping us bring players in. Not so much the case this time.
We have a relatively talented squad but the turnaround has been huge, despite the amount of changes last time we were relegated, this time feels different somehow.
I suspect ALK will want their money back and then some, and once they have, we will be up for sale.

Re: How long left for ALK?
They will not put the club up for sale outside of the Premier League unless it looks like we're never going back. I don't think one defeat quite puts us into that territory.

Starting to think with all these sales and no real sign of spending any of it on incomings whether they are looking to sell up.

This will all end in tears. We will be lucky if we have a team.

I've had the same feeling. That they've had enough and are looking to cash out before heading for the exit. This week will probably tell us a lot. Could be completely wrong.

The for sale sign will never be down for this club. ‘We’re gonna make so much money’. 2 relegations in 3 seasons and a decimated squad, what a legacy.

We are still on more points than what we were under vk in his championship start. Let’s not go crazy but I do admit it’s worrying

Re: How long left for ALK?
The time to sell would be when the club is either back in the PL or on the brink of a return.
The value of a Championship club is so much lower than a PL club that it would make zero sense to sell up anytime soon.

Re: How long left for ALK?
He’s a very silly man if he’s going to sell every good player and replace with fringe players who haven’t performed for us at this level.
Could he not have waited till we got promoted so guaranteed another £100m+. He’s making it harder and harder for Parker with every passing day.

We have to wait until the window closes to make proper judgement but admittedly it doesn't look good.JohnMcGreal wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 5:38 pmI've had the same feeling. There was always going to be some "bumps in road" through this transitional period, we expected it last time under VK but somehow managed to steer past it.
As has been mentioned with such high player turnover you can't expect to keep a settled side and I will reserve judgement until after the window closes, even if Rovers beat us that doesn't define our season, it really is our performance in the window.
We need to recruit a few players of genuine quality back in to balance it up - QUICKLY - as we are currently out of kilter.
If Koleosho goes then that could be the "Martin Dobson" moment when the fans could definitely turn.

Pace can obviously talk a good show.
Getting VK & Scott is commendable but the proof is in the pudding. He's a shyster.
A revolving door of players, and probably managers, the way things are going will only result in failure

Re: How long left for ALK?
It's almost as if buying a football club using it's own money, then using other people's money to run the thing whilst adding eye-watering levels of debt and interest is a bad strategy.
And when I say bad strategy, I mean bad for the football club, of course. The charlatans will be just fine.

ALK are bankers. Using other people's money is what they have done for an entire career and they have been good at itksrclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 6:23 pmIt's almost as if buying a football club using it's own money, then using other people's money to run the thing whilst adding eye-watering levels of debt and interest is a bad strategy.

Re: How long left for ALK?
Despite a good season hmm with three superb loanees in the team, sacking Dyche was really the beginning of the upcoming demise.

Re: How long left for ALK?
They got incredibly lucky with the promotion season which papered over the cracks caused by buying a club with leveraged debt.
The 'model' of ownership obviously involves trying to maximise the income from sale of assets (i.e.players) to service said debt now that guaranteed income has been lost following relegation.
The level of reinvestment (i.e. the amount we spend in players during this window) will reveal a lot about ALK's ability to service the level of debt the club currently has.
Promotion is the only thing that will ease the financial pressure, and the financial constraints we're already operating under make that much more difficult.
I hope I'm wrong but there may well be a period of some turmoil beginning for the club.

Re: How long left for ALK?
The blase attitude of many posters on here over the last three years will lead to a very rude awakening when the inevitable **** goes down. There was only ever going to be a bad ending to this ‘relationship’ with their reluctance to fix their own mess (the debt used to ‘buy’ the club).
I hoped, and still hope, that we might get a few more yo-yo’s before the string broke. Possibly not judging by the fact that even after everyone sold, we still need to get Koleosho out.

Re: How long left for ALK?
Despite having concerns, I’ve been pretty tolerant of ALK over the last few years and haven’t really joined in the negativity towards them, but the last few weeks have tipped me over the edge.
The summer of 22/23, which facilitated one of the most enjoyable seasons I can remember watching, is now looking like a total fluke.
They could yet go some way before Friday to righting some of the mess, but we’re a handful of further bad decisions away from torpedoing this season and potentially our medium term future.

Re: How long left for ALK?
In the last couple of weeks it feels like a lot has probably happened. The club were top of the championship ans probably have the highest value we will have for at least the next year. If we fail to go up the clubs value will only decrease, therefore the value now could be its highest for years. They want out now. They are clearly asset stripping by selling the players for liquid money that they can use to inflate the clubs value and move it on. They will sell to the highest bidder. We could get lucky and get a Saudi billionaire, but more likely we will end up with someone from abroad who is a corrupt money launderer. We will join the list of clubs like Portsmouth and Bolton who have slipped down to league 2, but as a small club it will take longer to get back up. As it did last time it took decades but this time will be much, much worse. That is if there still is a club. This is the beginning of a dark time. Things can change very, very quickly.
Re: How long left for ALK?
Bloody hell. I know it was an absolute horrorshow today but this has taken a dark turn.

We're doomed doomed I tell ye!!!!!
Re: How long left for ALK?
Will ALK still be there if.. IF we were a mid table league One team, and they needed to pump their own money in just to keep us going (like Kilby etc)
Not an insult, just a genuine question. I sincerely don't think they would, I think they would be long gone.. they are all about the money making. Ticket and shirt price increases show this. Guess we can't blame them, almost all modern day Football club buyers are in it for the money or for the 'toy' aspect by super rich owners.

Re: How long left for ALK?
What the **** is going on?
Buy and sell to survive / make a profit but as Tony Soprano says when you're bleeding a guy, you don't squeeze him dry right away.
As a business model it more than makes sense to buy and sell but you've gotta keep the club in a healthy position to be able to do so.
What the **** it's gonna look like by the end of the week is anyone's guess...
How has all this happened in a week?
