Could Parker walk?

Post by bumba » Sat Aug 24, 2024 6:36 pm

Could he walk away from this situation?
Came in to a good squad at this level and wins two games, promotion highly likely then the board rip the squad apart and leave him players not up to standard.
That team today doesn't make top 6 regardless of who is manager.

That is a team more than capable of relegation.

Wouldn’t blame him. He took over a squad capable of walking the league at a canter even if we lost 4-5 players but now is having the rug pulled from beneath him.

It’s a joke

He's just said he wants reinforcements in before the deadline.

I wouldn't blame him, but I don't think he will do. He seems a genuine bloke and wants to give his best.

And I don't care what some of the terminally wrong are saying on here tonight. Parker would not have expected to be in this situation when he took the job. No way.

I don’t think so - Parker is now in a win/win.

He gets us promoted, it’s miraculous and against the odds now (as opposed to expected like it was a week ago).

He doesn’t, he can blame it on Alan Pace like myself and the majority of our fanbase who are actually switched on to what is unfolding and escape the criticism Scott free (sorry).

Not on water he can’t.

Though that might be needed given our situation.

Does he get a say in the reinforcements though or are ALK deciding who we sign?

Zaroury, JBG, Benson, Odobert have all been replaced by Hountondji!! With Vitinho now our only fit winger which isn't his position

Prepared to be corrected but if I remember rightly he’s been sacked from his three managerial jobs in less-than-impressive circumstances each time.

If he walks from this one he’ll be lucky to get a gig sat next to Paul Merson and the other clowns on Sky every Saturday.

His record at this level is spot on.

As for 'will he walk'? Who knows, but it won't bode well for the future if it turns out that promises have been broken and he feels he's been left with an impossible task. We'll know more by next weekend.

Sacked twice. Bournemouth and Brugge. He resigned/mutual consent at Fulham.

Fair enough, although ‘mutual consent’ could cover a multitude of sins.

Stand by my point though that if he bottles this one he’ll likely need to have a career Plan B ready to be dusted off. I can’t imagine even this last week will have been unexpected for him no matter what might have been said/promised, he’s been in the game long enough to know this can happen.

I can see your point, but I think this is really nothing to do with Parker. He made changes against both Luton and Cardiff that made us play better.

This it's down to the board, not Parker.

Far too early.
We still have a good squad, and we know a few are going, but the injuries and sickness is taking its toll.
The new recruits need time to settle in, but time isn't a luxury you get in this league.
Desperately short in the middle without Cullen and Berge, as others have said, Brownhill and Massengo are too similar, we need a def mid urgently.
It was a poor result, worse it wasn't a good performance, but wait until deadline day +1 before panicking.

I actually think the football has been dull and his team selection has been awful too.

I like the bloke and want him to succeed but he’s got to learn and quickly.

Vitinho on the wing as a secondary fullback away at Luton to deal with Doughty I understand but Vitinho on the wing at home against Cardiff?

playing Jay Rodriguez as a number 10? Shudder

Persisting with Foster when Amdouni is on the bench is a criminal offence

Hountondji? Did he sign him? Did we get duped? Are we victims of fraud? I have seen enough.

Where is Enoch Agyei?

He won’t walk, he has a good gig here and he won’t get a better one. He’s probably a bit startled though by the past week, as we all are to be fair. He’s every right to be asking Pace what the plan is now and the need to get reinforcements in immediately.

He’s had a cracking start and has had the rug pulled from under him by the chairman. If Pace ***** it up big time nothing he can do about it he’s only the “head coach”.

He got sacked at Bournemouth for saying they couldn’t compete, he knows to just get on with it no matter how many batshit crazy decisions are being made in the background.

Pace is running the club like Poundland at the minute , needs to grow a pair and support the “ head coach”.

It was about now we were signing Tella, Beyer and Zaroury…a similar week is needed.

Hang on, and this may sound like a conspiracy theory- what about the situation where Pace told Parker in the interviews that he would be changing the squad around and selling x amount of players to adapt our finances?

I know that sounds absolutely crazy but it could of been the situation?

I know I’m stretching things here, but what about Parker asking to be able to bring his own players in?

What a ridiculous thread. Why would a manager who’s just started a new job walk? Especially one who has been out of work.

All sense and logic would suggest that he’s here unless a) he gets sacked or b) he leaves for a better job after a period of success.

I find it hard to believe Parker wasn't aware of the impending outgoings when he signed on. Maybe that's why contract negotiations took so long, or the other candidates backed away at the thought of a rebuild and Parker was last man standing. Possibly Parker looked at this 'project' as a way to resurrect his managerial career? We will never know.

Why? He’s been told (probably) that he has a squad to get us back up, and it’s being sold out from under him. If this is what he signed up to then so be it, he will get what he deserves. This sale goes way beyond what I thought would happen. It’s crazy the team we had out there today, from too many players to 17/18 year olds and 2 keepers on the bench.

The loss isn’t the issue, although not ideal, but the 11 that took the field and the weak looking bench.

Did our subs bench not concern you, or lack of?

Amdouni aside, we can't change a game with the players we had today.

Would you rather rely on players on the bench who didn't want to play, to be the ones to change the game? Or perhaps the injured/ill ones?

I'll offer up that it's strange Worrell didnt get into the squad, but he was hardly likely to affect the result today.

It's not the boldest prediction I've ever made, but I doubt the bench will be anything like as threadbare as that next week.

Not half as much as the apparent poor mental health of some of our posters.
I hope they fully recover from a 1-0 away defeat at a very big club :D

I have discovered that if you watch someone speak (as I have just done with Parker's post match interview) and turn the volume off that you can really analyse their body language. Parker definitely looks beaten up. Lets pray he and the club can secure some of the key players we are missing from our team in the next 6 days
