Burnley and Lowerhouse have vastly different income streams.
Burnley benefit from their proximity to the football ground and the numbers of visiting supporters on match days using the bar facilities.
Lowerhouse generate income via membership numbers, gate receipts, functions and local sponsors.

I doubt it given the Police restrictions on public movement for our games against the B*stards.

Re: Lancashire League Cricket
I wasn't trying to make any point. There is nothing wrong with both Burnley clubs being solvent and successful.
UTH !

Re: Lancashire League Cricket
We have a lot of bickering about local cricket to say it's never been in better shape.
In the last 2 seasons
Burnley have won a league, could be 2.
Lowerhouse a cup.
Padiham a cup, outside chance of the league this season.
Read won a cup and likely league this year (although 2nd div)
It should be celebrated.

Re: Lancashire League Cricket
The number of trophies won by Burnley and Lowerhouse in the last few years is phenomenal. It’s very rare either of them are not challenging at the top end of the league.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 2:57 pmWe have a lot of bickering about local cricket to say it's never been in better shape.

I look at the leagues now and see teams like East Lancs and Nelson struggling. When I went they were two of the bigger clubs who won things.

Re: Lancashire League Cricket
Big games this weekend for Burnley and Darwen Burnley lead Darwen by just 3 points with both clubs having 2 games left. This coming weekend Burnley are at home to Littleborough while Darwen travel to 4th placed Norden in a must win game. A zero point loss for Darwen and a Burnley win would confirm Burnley as Champions. Any other combination of results except a total wash out would mean the title race would go to the final game at Darwen when they entertain Burnley. I am sure that all the Lowerhouse fans will be hoping the town team can keep the trophy in Burnley for at least another year UTC

I'd like a Burnley win - then we can meet in the Charity Shield next year.FCBurnley wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 3:54 pmBig games this weekend for Burnley and Darwen Burnley lead Darwen by just 3 points with both clubs having 2 games left. Re: Lancashire League Cricket
East Lancs has always been my least favourite Lancashire League ground to visit, irrespective that it's in Black*urn
I suppose it started at the 1981 Martini Cup Final when visiting supporters were not allowed in the bar.
In the following years the club and it's members took a 'we are superior' attitude and looked down on the other league clubs.
Over the last couple of decades I have attended most House games at Alexandra Meadows and the place is a desolate wasteland. They have virtually no local support.
My best visit was when they had a jumble sale on in the clubhouse and I managed to outbid an elderly lady for a shawl / tablecloth which was a bargain at 20p.
The walk up Dukes Brow from the train station is a killer.
