Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
£25m for a man with a dodgy availability record and few goals, is too good to turn down. People with better records than him could be found by overpaying for centre forwards from some of the weaker Championship sides. (Probably!). If I thought Foster was good, I wouldn't be quite so blase.
Picking Saturday's team is going to be pretty easy for Parker. (Or, God forbid, Jackson.) Turn up at Turf Moor early, take a look at which players turn up (ie. the ones who were not sold the night before), and ask players to stick their hands up for who can play left back, who can play centre forward, and so on. If there are any players left at the end of it, they're on the bench.
Anyone ever read "A Prefect's Uncle" by PG Wodehouse? Most of the senior players in the house cricket team refused to play and the team had to be filled with juniors. It descended to the stage of them selecting Crowinshaw because they liked the name. Are we going to be like that?

'Injured' only applies until Friday. On Saturday the window is closed so injuries can be presumed to be genuine.

Be interesting to watch Ipswich's games this season if they field a few of our former players, that's for sure.
Re: Foster to Ipswich
I can sort of get having an expectation of a little loyalty, especially after the backing / support that he received, from club and fans.
Let’s leave the other side of things out of it though. Suggesting that he played or will play the mental health card, to suit himself, is exactly what prevents others from seeking help.

Ignoring outstanding monies owed for earlier purchases, I reckon the current sales total this window (including Kompany) from completed and
Very likely deals is circa £180m. I have assumed
Kolo, Foster and Amdouni are gone. Obviously that money will come in over several years. Still think Trafford will be gone, as will McNally and Benson. New total circa £200m.
Obviously, we have committed new and future costs this window. Nevertheless it's beyond staggering

Re: Foster to Ipswich
That Denkey bloke from Belgium would cost less than £25m, and he scores a lot more goals.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I have to say I never liked Foster as a striker. But to get 25m is staggering. I think it’s an offer we can’t refuse. Only thing is what happens if Ipswich get relegated ???
Do we get nothing but Foster back ??

It's reported as loan with mandatory fixed purchase of £25,000,000. Doesn't make any ref to conditions.
Source - Sacha Tav.
If Ipswich do go down, they are going to be in far worse shape than we appear to be.

It's heartbreaking to watch happen - but unfortunately when you have a manager like Kompany that can sell a player the dream of world class development and playing in the prem, very hard to keep them once both of those have gone.
Most of those leaving have only been with us 1-2 years, no loyalty to Burnley at all sadly. Might be a tough season but we'll come out the other side.
Kompany might have overcorrected vs Dyche - hopefully Parker is somewhere in the middle

we need to see where we are come end of the week in terms of players coming and going, one thing for sure Turf Moor isn't a happy place at this moment in time...

F**k them all mate, I wish I’d not supported the entire thing last season.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:02 pmI've tried to be as supportive as possible of Foster, but now he's off I feel I can say that I've found him to be an absolute donkey for the most part. A proper ungraceful and untechnical lump, apart from a few flashes.
Amdouni, as much as you adore him, is a weak little fart in the wind who thinks he's good but the ball bounces off him like a council estate wall.

On the plus side, Benson rumours have gone very quiet. I can see us getting a max of 3 incomings and scrabbling around trying to sign free agents after the window shuts.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I thought I read somewhere a condition was that Ipswich stay up for us to get the 25m. What sort of a deal is that. Player goes we get nothing and Ipswich has very little chance of staying up. So no 25m

Players with ‘Kompany Leaves’ clauses - remember that in the documentary? Just a thought that popped into my head. It was said somewhat throwaway at the time. Nothing shocks me anymore.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
So it's not £25M at all then, thought it sounded too good to be true.

"I thought I read somewhere"
You mean you just made it up because you feeling peed off and want to stir the pot with fake lines so everybody becomes as outraged as you are right now. It only came out about in the last few hours so not exactly hard for you to remember where you read such a thing

With regard to signings:
If we bought a 17-yr-old forward, who scored 21 goals in all competitions last season, from Italy or Spain, then this board would be ecstatic.
The fact that Vernon Masara is already a Burnley player doesn’t excite people as much as Odobert or Koleosho. Is that because he’s “just a kid filling the bench”?

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Everyone saying about the fees we are receiving, double money, great profit etc….. the problem is the club won’t profit from any of it. It will go towards paying off loans or interest on loans and the rest will go to ALK who’ve used Burnley FCs money to purchase the club in the first place. I don’t always agree with Simon Jordan but he speaks his mind and when the takeover happened he called it for what it was. It’s a shambles and dangerous towards our club.

Foster trained on Tuesday, that’s not to say he isn’t off, but he definitely trained with those expected to be involved against Wolves.
