I don’t think it’s standard to call bids ‘laughable’ no and I think there’s a lot of logic in what he’s saying about being unable to replace him now at such a late stage.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 3:19 pmPretty standard thing for a manager to say don’t you think. Wouldn’t go down well with the fans if he turned around and said ‘yeah we are working with clubs to sell Morgan’

We will either meet what they demand or not. I can’t see them negotiating lower if that’s what we are trying, given time is running out.

My thoughts on the Whittaker deal
1. We must have encouragement to go back with a 2nd offer
2. We must be confident of meeting the valuation
3. It must just be about the payment structure

Can't see Whittaker happening if Chubs stamps his feet and says he wants him to stay. Unless they are about to financially go under and are desperate for the sale then the board will back their new big name manager.

Foster?
Whittaker is either a ten or right winger.

Fully agree and we have seen this many times BUT sometimes its better just to pay or at least get close to their valuation.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 3:26 pmMy thoughts on the Whittaker deal

As the selling club they want a bidding war, if we really want him just do the deal then he's off the market.

I am sure that transfer fees get paid over the course of the contract and not fully up front anywayTheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 3:09 pmDepends whether whoever they are buying from wants to defer their money too.

Why on Earth we cannot simply buy a player after taking in £140m is a poser. Surely if it’s possible to give a £4m initial payment now and then the rest in a year (as speculated above), there’s no need to do it as a loan anyway? Aren’t most permanent deals done in a staggered payment manner? Why do we need to badge him as a loan?

We’ve gone back in with a season long loan bid, plus Rodriguez and Hountondji moving the opposite way should we get promoted.

After signing Anthony and with still having benson Tresor and koleosho at the club with Redmond to come back to, then Sarmiento having a medical, we must think one of the wide players is still leaving to be in for Whittaker still

I would say the evidence is there that his agent is telling him it’s best to get out the club, that’s why Sacha is the only one reporting any story on himNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 3:31 pmNot sure there is any evidence at all behind that claim

Sacha is renowned for being unreliable and from what I can tell no one else at all is linking foster with a move away.

That’s why I said it’s important obviously his agent feeding information to Sacha. Doesn’t make it reliable. Multiple people have been told he refused to train on Tuesday and then walking straight down the tunnel last night isn’t a great lookNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 3:35 pmWhere is the evidence of that though?

I would guess it relates to timing of when the profits are booked in the accounts? Perhaps new sales do not affect us from a PSR perspective for this financial year?jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 3:30 pmWhy on Earth we cannot simply buy a player after taking in £140m is a poser. It’s not but the fact he’s one player that’s pulled the jersey on every game this season tells me he’s not as out the door as some say.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 3:37 pmThat’s why I said it’s important obviously his agent feeding information to Sacha. The thing is though, even if it is his agent, that does not mean Foster wants to leave.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 3:37 pmThat’s why I said it’s important obviously his agent feeding information to Sacha. A lot of agents are out for themselves and can be just encouraging bids that a club might accept even though the player has not asked to leave.

I'll be happy with the current dealings if we keep Brownhill and LK among the 1st teamers.
I can't help but feel that I'm not happy with the centre forward spot. Am I being greedy?

The only clubs he’s been successful at was ours. For what it’s worth as a striker in the championship he would bag 20 goals easy

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Really hope that is true r.e Sarmiento. Not fussed about Laurent, it’s a small fee and as long as it’s backup and not a replacement for the likes of Brownhill then it’s hardly worth bothering about. Underwhelming filler, maybe he surprises us.
Whittaker is the one we positively need - personally feel we need two strikers regardless of Foster staying or not as I just don’t see goals in our front line.

He would have to get 20 in 4 games because the rest of the season he would be out injured. Like Benson he is too lightweight and made of glass.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 3:50 pmPerhaps a bit older and wiser.
