When Parker got Bournemouth promoted from the Championship he had the services of Solanke to call upon who scored 29 goals that season.
When he got Fulham up through the play offs he could call upon Mitrovic.
If Parker managed to get Burnley in the top 6 relying on Foster and J Rod it would be more than a minor miracle.
How many did our strikers Foster and Jay Rod score out of the 9 we scored in the first two game's
Other players in other positions score goals to you know

That’s where I’m at, would still hope for a proper striker as well as Whittaker though, personally. Unlikely though.
We really need a player like Whittaker, I actually think we'll get him in by tomorrow, not sure why I'm so confident, but I think Parker really likes a goal scorer, (Foster has never been a goal scorer).

We’ve bought Houndontji as a striker. Signing actual wingers means we can play him in his correct role.

Can see Ben Doak at Liverpool being one of those names, right winger at Liverpool

We didn’t do too bad with THB Maatsen Beyer and Tella last time we were in the Championship.

How many did our strikers score in our promotion season? I seem to remember us weighing in from all different positions, and predominantly Tella who was plying more of a winger/10 role.
Didn’t Tella score 17?
That’s the sort of striker contribution needed with others weighing in.

My worry now is if Foster stays we dont have another No 9 to compete with him.We saw last night and on Saturday v Sunderland that Jay is absolutely finished in even the Championship. Hountondji -well I cant make him out but he seems well off the mark, and the way Foster has been behaving he could come out, if he stays and says "he is in a dark place" and can't play until further notice. I may have misjudged the guy and he could in fairness put
his head down and give us performances which we remember him for ie Villa away. Lets see and hope for both the club and his well being

Good! Rightly so as well, it should have been Odobert level at least due to the time. Good on the club/Pace with that.
A lot if dickheads on X are saying how can a Burnley player be worth 40m
Not the player himself but the fact he's a Burnley player, if he was a Brentford player that only scored one goal and was relegated that'd be okay he'd be worth 40m but not a Burnley player

Not sure where this has been said. But they're absolutely correct that Koleosho isn't worth £40m. We signed him for £2.6m, in what world is he worth £40m 17 games and 2 goals and 1 assist later.

That’s interesting if true, with Whittaker being a loan, that would make it 6 loans with Sarmiento and only 5 can be named in each match day squad
Don’t know about those mentioned, but the two someone told me about would be in match day squads I think.

Jay is finished as a striker in the Championship because he's played a couple of games, two of them out of position, and not produced.
Love that logic.
He knows where the net is. If we had a single winger or creative player on the pitch it might help.
I can understand criticism of his injury record, but he's capable at this level.

I’ve read detailed reports on him from professional scouts including one who spent a full season scouting him. Given how optimistic he was over this signing I’ll give him more than 2 games playing out of position in 2 poor team performances in seriously weakened squads.

Over the past 10 seasons in the Championship the leading goal scorer has finished with a tally ranging from 20 to a ridiculous 43.
Ideally to have a promotion winning season you need a striker bagging around 15-20.

Of course nobody can judge the player and he needs to be seen in his actual position. I would still twist on someone like Tom Cannon as a further striking option, personally (in addition to Whittaker who I assume we see playing wide right).

Folk seem to have forgotten that he was VKs chosen one last season with Odobert getting splinters on the bench. He was also impressive regardless of goals and assists. £40m would be too high but if we got £30m for Odobert he has to be similar.

Regarding Hountondji, it is worth remembering that Foster looked like a pub player in his first few appearances in 2023 so he may just need a bit of time to get up to speed with things

£40m is a scare off price and it’s good to see us adopting those tactics. Hes not worth that but with the timing of the window and how much upheaval we’ve had, he’s worth an awful lot to us right now.

The thing with Koleosho is it's his potential. He's got more raw tools than Odobert, just less end product at the moment. Koleosho, IMO, is very similar to Doku - the type of player those wanting to emulate Guardiola will want and will pay massively for.

If Tresor is still here after the bell strikes then he needs a clean slate. He will know as much as anyone else that he’s been crap for us so far, but it’s a lower league and he’s got no weight of pressure on him. Who knows, he might be the saviour.

Have to disagree and my opinion that is largely confirmed this season, is also based on a steady decline in Jay's performances that started in the second half of the 2021/2022 season under Dyche. Whether he is in or out of position this season, I cannot recall anything he did Saturday or last night and was singled out by a neutral presenting the game on SKY. He was almost running away from any potential challenge. McDermott contributed more in the second half than Jay has in the past two games.

I still can’t believe that there isn’t a player in there (somewhere).
The Championship certainly won’t be a forgiving league for him, but it might, just might allow him to adapt to the English game, settle in and show us what he can actually deliver.
Plenty players coming in from abroad have needed a season or so to adapt - for whatever reason(s) he’s not even had that.
Hopefully he’s given a fair go, if he does knuckle down, and aims to work his way into the first team reckoning.

I don’t think we’ll ever see him play
But we can’t just let him be here, but not actually be here, and 13mil be wasted

Exactly - it’s in our interests, as well as his, to try get him firing.

Still don't get how football transfers work really.
If I go into my local used car dealer and he has a car that I would like to purchase with a sticker price of £8k and I go in and offer him £4k he tells me "No" in whatever polite way he can. If I go in and say £7k and he wants to sell it then then we haggle a bit and agree on £7.5k and he chucks in a free service.
If I offer him £8k he says "ta very much there's the keys!" No negotiation
If he puts a sticker price of £8k on the windscreen and you offer £8k then he says "No actually I want £12k" then you tell him to $"%^ off and recommend that none of your pals buy from there.
I get it's not motors or slabs of meat but a bit of transparency ffs

It won’t be here
We’ll have to loan him and hopefully he’ll perform and will be saleable

If Tresor is still here then let's have a look at him and see if he can produce what we expected. Absolute clean slate
