Let’s hope he’s replaced with someone else who can secure lucrative 2 year deals… we might need ‘em!
Re: The Man Behind the 96.com Deal GONE!
If you look at his CV on Linkdin he has never been in a job anywhere for much longer than a year. In fact we were his longest job at one year and ten months.
Another career climber just looking for the next big job.

What partnerships did he secure at his time at Burnley which generated additional revenue of any significance ?

Re: The Man Behind the 96.com Deal GONE!
Semantics but I would argue that the modern buzz word "partberships" should mean with the fans.
A company views that relationship as a partnership, it can fly. Viewing customers as a gravy train of course does the opposite. We see failures like this in business every month.

Must have had a hand in a few of these plus the Business Club. I’m sure the accounts will show some continued increase in revenue from these activities over the past few years and going forward?Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 3:06 pmWhat partnerships did he secure at his time at Burnley which generated additional revenue of any significance ?

It is much harder to hit a moving target; but good luck to the man

I too am disgusted at a member of the general public showing ambition.
People on this board are a different breed

Do staff in the commercial side have to end posts with #COYC or #COYR?
Re: The Man Behind the 96.com Deal GONE!
I was just pointing out that he has never spent long in any role. Some of us have been on holiday as long as he has been in a couple of jobs.
It’s the modern thing with some of these career climbers. And they often move on before they get found out.
Anyway good luck to the guy, I will monitor his next career moves with interest.

Yep seen some of these new partnerships announced via LinkedIn.Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 7:07 pmMust have had a hand in a few of these plus the Business Club. So far I’m yet to see any new commercial revenue lines of any significance in our accounts other than the traditional shirt sponsorship stuff (which so far themselves have not been anywhere near the revenue generated on the last big shirt sponsor deal under Garlick).
I don’t know the details of every new partnership but on the ones I have seen I’m struggling to understand the strategy or why / how they would generate revenue for the club. They seem to fall more into this holistic category of building our brand and the intangible benefits on the back of them.
We’ll see in next accounts - there’s been enough time now under the new owners to see evidence of what they said they were going to do at the outset in generating increased commercial revenues

By 'career climber' do you mean someone just trying to do better for themselves and their family.

You don’t get a gig at a PL club without having something about you. Seems like he’s done well for himself. I really don’t understand the mindset of some people.

I don't know about that, in my experience plenty of people can bull**** themselves into positions way beyond their capabilities, or have friends in the right places.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 9:01 amYou don’t get a gig at a PL club without having something about you. I don't doubt that, but people tend to stay put if they have a cushy number and I'd imagine more difficult to wing it in what I'd think is a pretty 'in demand' position.

Re: The Man Behind the 96.com Deal GONE!
My comment was not on the person - I do not know him from Adam so agree that is wrong to make judgements on somebody we don’t know. Football is a very insular industry - people tend to move from club to club and it’s not easy from other people in equivalent jobs to get into the football sector.
Having dealt with a few football clubs and their commercial and marketing department i do think that many of them would really benefit from bringing in people and skills from other sectors but my impression is that most clubs value experience at other football clubs more than they value experience and qualifications in the area of expertise (and I accept to a degree we have done that with the new owners)
My point on this thread was more a general one about the current owners and some of the partnerships they have entered into. One of their main aims when taking over was to introduce new commercial revenue streams and in general increase our revenue outside of the match day income and tv revenues.
To date I have not seen any evidence of this and whilst some of these partnerships have only been signed in the last 12 months so we will have to wait and see from the type of partnership deals we have signed I just do not see anything of material significance in terms of increasing our revenues.
Given TV money is nothing they can influence and dependent wholly on performance on the pitch then from what I have seen they have gone for the easiest target to increase overall revenue - the fans. The increase in hospitality prices and season tickets have been significant and they are here to stay under these owners. The revenues from advertising and in particular our shirt sponsor revenue has fallen under the new owners. As said little seems to be coming in from other commercial partnerships so you are left with little option other than to hit the supporters and increase match day income.
