Villa fans are revolting ...
Minimum price for an adult season-ticker holder to watch their Champions League Group games is £70, rising to £97. Cheapest seat for over 66's and those aged between 16-20, is £65 ... not surprised they're furious ...

They can afford it. Plenty of wealthy Brummies around the A34 and Perry Barr.Clarets4me wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 5:28 pmMinimum price for an adult season-ticker holder to watch their Champions League Group games is £70, rising to £97. Problem is the majority will moan and then pay it anyway. Until there's empty seats owners will just keep taking the ****.

Re: Villa fans are revolting ...
They don’t have to buy a ticket. If they’re so upset why don’t they just find another supermarket to support.
Re: Villa fans are revolting ...
Football clubs never cease to amaze me. Instead of trying to ride the wave they instead burst the balloon with a stupid money grabbing decision like that.
I think they underestimate the effect that sort of decision can have on the whole feeling and eventual success of a club.

Re: Villa fans are revolting ...
Most fans will just pay like we did with our price rises.
The only fan base strong enough to fight their owners on price hikes are Liverpool fans.

Depends how many turn up, if it's a sell out, they will think it's been a success.Goliath wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 6:50 pmFootball clubs never cease to amaze me. Instead of trying to ride the wave they instead burst the balloon with a stupid money grabbing decision like that.

I wouldn't spend £150 to stand in a field to watch a over hyped group, but millions wanted to. Somebody will always pay it, and whilst they do, the prices keep rising.

Re: Villa fans are revolting ...
Aston Villa get roughly about 40,000 home fans when it is a sell out.
If they kept it as a reasonable price, say £30 per adult it would get them £1,200,000 in revenue per Champions League game, 4 home games guaranteed at the moment so £4,800,000 in total revenue in ticket sales*
Charging between £70 and £97, let's say an average of £80, it would give them a revenue of £12,800,000 over the 4 games (so a rough £8,000,000 increase compared to the lower price) let's not forget the extra TV money, prize money, sponsorship money etc the club will make from the Champions League.
So they are willing to p*ss off their entire fanbase for £8,000,000 in revenue which would pay the wages of Boubacar Kamara for the year.
*Ticket sale revenue would be lower if you accommodate lower prices for kids and other age categories.

There in lies the problem. It might be a success financially but could come at a pretty big cost in terms of dividing thr club and the fanbase

Two European clubs have adopted the oasis pricing method. Be in the Uk next.
Re: Villa fans are revolting ...
I don't agree with the prices
But they will get away with it, because fans will pay it, they'll moan anonymously online, but will pay it.

Send some of the "Peaky Blinders" family round to the chairman's house to advise them about reducing prices back down

Even if they didn’t sell out, all you’d hear from other fans and pundits is how poor their support is. Need more solidarity among all fans to stop and change these things.

Doesn't matter what revenue the clubs make, they'll still spend it all. It goes in extortionate transfer fees, mental wages and agents fees.NottsClaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 6:53 amEven if they didn’t sell out, all you’d hear from other fans and pundits is how poor their support is. All this money sloshing around in the top flight and some clubs are still making a loss, it's abhorrent but unfortunately it's the norm.
Re: Villa fans are revolting ...
If the usual fans don't go others who can't usually get tickets, or can't go for some reason, will buy them. Clubs know this so get away with it.

Re: Villa fans are revolting ...
it does beg the question, what will be the price of tickets should they reach the knock out stages? and even the quarter or semi-final , i know this is unlikely but if they did those prices would surely have a 1 in front of them !!

They have maimed beyond anonymously. I suspect they will ultimately get away with it but it’s good to see the supporters associations at Villa condemning it.
