Re: Sambo

Have to say I'm a but surprised that Sambo isn't in the thinking given the squad we've ended up with. I say that not because I think he's any good - one game on the left wing isn't enough to judge him although he did fine - or because I think we're especially short at right back (Roberts is a worthy first choice, and Egan Riley and Humphries can play there) but because he was billed as a pacey, attacking right back in a similar mould to Vitinho and the one thing the squad appears to me to lack now, particularly at the back, is express pace. If Sambo doesn't add that I'm surprised we didn't look to add that sort of pace to our ranks given we allowed Vitinho to leave.

Of course up front we have Foster and Koleosho, but the other wingers we've brought in don't seem absolutely express and neither Roberts nor Pires are notably quick full backs. One of our great strengths two seasons ago was the pace of Maatsen and on occasion the pace of Vitinho opposite. It gave us penetration on the overlap (or underlap) of the sort we missed against Rovers. It also gave us an ability to smother counter attacks before they'd got going so dominate territory. It'll be interesting to see how that translates to this team this time.

Anthony's no slouch.

Ramsey is on the list - the only player left out because of injury is Beyer
I hadn't seen the U21 list and for some reason I'd also assumed Ramsey was older tbf.

No and nor is Sarmiento. But first impressions, both are Zaroury quick rather than Tella/Koleosho quick. I don't think that's in itself a problem because we do have Koleosho, but I think when combined with relatively one paced full backs the danger is that as a whole the team gets a bit one paced.

The problem with Koleosho is he has no idea to use his pace. He should get 20 goals in this league with penetrative runs inside/behind full backs but I'm fairly sure he won't because he doesn't know how to or when to make those runs.

Cornet, JBL and Tella were all very good at it.

Looks like it from that pic. Hadn't seen it but was previously told it wasn't his knee.
Yeah that's why I thought it was a knee injury. Those contraptions are designed to limit movement of the knee and prevent lateral movement. Could have been a really bad muscle tear I guess on quads or hammy?

That’s what I thought it was - a hamstring tear
