O2 coverage in Burnley
I know there’s a thread somewhere about coverage for O2 (and Sky which uses the O2 network) in Burnley being shocking.
I’m currently on Manchester Road close to the Town Hall and I’ve got 5G and it’s working fine.
Might be worth others who are in town checking it out and reporting back.

Let's hope they've finally sorted it. It's about time if soClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 2:54 pmI know there’s a thread somewhere about coverage for O2 (and Sky which uses the O2 network) in Burnley being shocking.

Incredible isn’t it, that 4G is now so ineffective that you can barely reach the internet let alone do anything with it? Remember when it was going to be a game changer?

It's only Burnley where this seems to happen though - certainly in my experience anyway.

I'm on O2 and have been for years but seriously considering switching to another provider.
The mobile coverage and data speeds are shocking - feels like they've gone downhill over the past couple of years.

I’ve just picked my daughter up from the school bus stop next to Burnley Barracks. I was there in very good time so I’d thought I’d pass it by catching up on stuff on my phone. Not a cat in hells chance!
Re: O2 coverage in Burnley
Have you tried to report it? I reported it to them and they closed the ticket saying I was wrong and the service was fine.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 3:14 pmAfraid not. After five minutes of brilliant response with 5G, it dropped back to 4G with the usual no response at all.

I have, more than once, only to be told there is no issue.

They have it used to be the boss network. For normal texting & ringing you are in a safe pair of hands but they are the slowest network when it comes down to data.BuryClaret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 4:06 pmI'm on O2 and have been for years but seriously considering switching to another provider.

Every company phone I've had has been on Vodafone, and it's been consistently the best over the years.

I live in Rossendale and I use EE, it's about as much use as a chocolate teapot with 4G.
And finding 5G is practically a no no.

O2 is absolutely crap in Manchester city centre so no surprise it’s not sorted in Burnley.

Get within one mile of a football ground with o2 and you are buggered. Worst network I’ve ever been on.

Trouble when you strip out Chinese kit for security concerns, then discover the backlog for alternative supplier's kit. Especially where it may need to be reverse engineered to be compatible......
Good luck

5G standalone (5G SA) is on the way which should help usage in stadiums, "up to 1 million devices within a single square kilometer".

More encouraging news for us suffering O2/SKY mobile users. I’ve currently got 5G at Manchester Road station.

Re: O2 coverage in Burnley
I am with 02 due to the free roaming in Europe which I need . but coverage in the UK is poor. get nothing on the Turf on Match day. It's not brilliant in town or even close to where I live . Vodafone was the best coverage I have had off a provider

Re: O2 coverage in Burnley
I was on Tesco mobile for years but switched to voxi (uses Vodafone) because of this issue. It’s appalling. I had to go into my data settings and switch from 4g to 3G to get an internet connection on the o2 network.
